Chapter 280: Chapter 280: Beating

A while later, they finally arrived at the law court, and there, they met Wu Tang and Tang Mei exiting their car, and it looked like they just had a fight.

Xin Yan and Li Qiang exchanged glances. They wondered what might have happened between both of them.

"Tang," Li Qiang waved to Wu Tang.

Wu Tang smiled when he heard his name, and he walked towards Li Qiang and Xin Yan, followed by Tang Mei who had a bitter look on her face.

"What is wrong?" Xin Yan asked.

"Cam you imagine? Wu Tang did not inform me about my son being kidnapped, he left me in the dark," Xin Yan’s question was like a trigger as Tang Mei poured out all her frustration.

Xin Yan smiled. Well, she had a feeling that Tang Mei’s mood was totally owing to this particular issue.

"I understand how you feel, I just found out about the issue today as well, but we can deal with them later, right now, we need to send the bad person to jail," Xin Yan patiently explained to her, and Tang Mei had to force herself to take a deep breath.

"There, shall we head in now?" Xin Yan asked gently, and they all nodded before walking into the court, which was surprisingly filled up.

One would wonder how the masses got to find out about today’s hearing.

"Did you inform the Press about today’s hearing?" Li Qiang questioned as he spotted some reporters with their cameras as both couples made their way to their seats.

"Of course not, I will be daft if I made such a stupid mistake, I wonder who let them in," Wu Tang refuted, while giving the reporters a confused look.

"We will worry about that later, for now, let’s focus on this," Li Qiang pursed his lips before the four of them took their seats.

The judge arrived a few minutes after they had settled down, and the hearing went into full swing.

Both sides had convincing statements, but there could only be one winner, and it was obvious who would win and who would lose.

"After looking at all the evidence, and listening to the statements of both witnesses, and victims, it is the court’s decision to sentence Li Beichen to life imprisonment since he is found guilty," The Judge announced, his announcement caused an uproar in the courtroom.

Li Beichen sat in the witness box with a blank look on his face.

He raised his head up when he felt a shadow over him. He sneered when he realized who it was.

"You finally got what you wanted, isn’t it?" Li Beichen asked with a scoff.

"It is not my fault, I am not the one the court found guilty," Li Qiang replied with a nonchalant voice.

"Is my father around? He should, after all, I broke the promise I made to him," Li Beichen smirked as he played with his sleeves.

Li Qiang became interested in his words as he stared at his Uncle who seemed to be stuck in his world.

"What promise did you make to him?" Li Qiang asked, his voice was unable to hide the interest he had in the matter.

"Your Grandfather hasn’t told you?" Li Beichen asked, feeling shocked by the news.

"Well, let me tell you, your grandfather was aware that I killed your parents, he was about to send me to jail, but I begged him, and he had no choice but to let me go, do you know why?" Li Beichen asked, his face having a mysterious look.

"That is because I am not really a member of the Li family, I am just a responsibility handed over to your grandfather," Li Beichen did not bother to mince his words as he directly spoke the truth.

Li Qiang took a step back in disbelief while staring at Li Beichen. He was unable to believe what he just heard. Everything seemed confusing to him.

"What do you mean by what you just said?" Li Qiang decided to take a deep breath. He needed to thoroughly understand what Li Beichen was saying.

Li Beichen sighed in annoyance.

"In plain terms, I am not your Uncle, nor your Grandfather’s son, I am just a liability handed over to him, and you know how much he values his responsibility," Li Beichen explained in clearer terms.

"You really deserve to be jailed, after everything my Grandfather had done for you, you decided to kill his only child," Li Qiang was irate.

His loud voice gained the attention of the remaining three people, and they rushed to his side at once.

Li Beichen did not feel remorseful as he raised his head to look at Li Qiang, a loud laugh resounding throughout the empty courtroom, except for all five of them.

"You are a beast!" Li Qiang yelled as he furiously dragged Li Beichen out of the witness box.

"How could you have done something so despicable? And yet, you act like nothing happened," Li Qiang was blinded by rage as he punched Li Beichen.

Li Qiang had lost consciousness of his surroundings as he continued to punch Li Beichen.

Xin Yan wanted to stop him, but she was held back by Wu Tang, who shook his head.

"It is best he let go of his anger, he won’t listen to you now," Wu Tang advised.

"But he would kill him," Xin Yan protested.

She was not against him beating up Li Beichen, for his Uncle absolutely deserved it, but Li Qiang was presently angry, and he could kill someone in such a way

.

That would be disastrous, as it would be horrible for his reputation.

"You are right, but at least, let him vent his anger, Li Qiang is smart enough, and will know where and when to stop," Wu Tang had complete faith in his friend.

Since Wu Tang had put it that way, Xin Yan had no other choice than to step back while she watched Li Qiang beat up Li Beichen.

The only annoying part was that Li Beichen was laughing all through the ordeal, not concerned about the beating he was given.
