Chapter 142: I take it back

"I told you to let go of me, didn’t I?" Dora snapped.

"Do you want me to thank you for your stupidity?" She added and James’s jaw clenched in anger at her insult.

"What did you just say?" James growled in a low voice.

"I said you are stupid and dense. I just came here because my lady wanted me to call over the prince," she snapped.

"Do you take me for a fool, I had clearly seen the surprise on your face and how you began to stammer because I caught you in the act. Do you dare to deny it?" James’ tone was stern and full of reprimand.

"That’s because I saw you, you idiot. I don’t know what is wrong with me and why my heart is always drumming in my chest anytime I see you. I have not seen you for four days now, and I was just caught by surprise because you appeared in front of me just when I was thinking about you..."

The more Dora spoke the more James felt like his heart was beating fast in an abnormal way. When he heard her say, "I don’t know what is wrong with me and why my heart is always drumming in my chest anytime I see you", everything else became a blur; he could only see her large, innocent eyes glistening with tears as they glared at him and her moving lips which spouted such words.

Her lips, which looked soft and moist because she had been biting on her lips earlier, caused his adams apple to move up and down, and before he realized it, he had captured her lips.

Dora’s eyes widened when she felt James’ lips on hers; her first instinct was to push him away, but she felt so strange feeling his lips on hers which felt so novel and sweet at the same time that her curiosity got the best of her.

She tried to imitate his movements but that even gave him more access to explore her warm mouth.

He plunged his tongue into her mouth like a starved beast, tasting every nook and cranny, and Dora, who had no experience, began to feel suffocated under how intense everything seemed.

She could feel his breath on her face but she couldn’t even breathe.

James realized she was becoming limp in his arms and pulled away.

"Breathe," he warned, and as if she had received a command from the gods, she began to take in large chunks of air. James smiled at how naive she looked, he could tell it was her first kiss. The thought that he was the first to taste such sweetness made him more happy than he expected, but his happiness was short-lived.

In the next moment, he felt something hard connecting to his groin and let go of Dora, caught off guard by her action. She had kicked him in that spot with her knee and she smirked at him.

"That is for stealing my first kiss without my permission," she said and began to walk away but saw James’ face contort in pain as his knees buckled, he looked like he was in severe pain.

’But she didn’t kick him too hard. Why did he look like he was on the verge of dying or did she?’ Dora wondered.

Dora began to feel worried, thinking she had taken it too far; she worriedly rushed back toward him. She crouched down to his level and realized just how close their faces were to each other.

"Are you okay? Sorry, I didn’t mean to, I shouldn’t have..." her remaining words got stuck in her throat when he held her wrist and forcefully yanked her towards himself again.

’She had been tricked!’

"Let go of me before I hurt you again," she warned, realizing how close their faces were, their breaths mingling.

Their proximity gave her a closer look at his striking features; he was handsome, and his eyes looked even more beautiful up close; Dora could imagine herself looking into those eyes all day long.

"Have you seen enough?" he whispered huskily and she blushed.

"I was thinking about how ugly you looked," Dora spat, causing him to chuckle.

"Then woe unto you because you must take responsibility for me after seducing me," he said and Dora’s eyes widened.

’Why was she the one who was supposed to take responsibility for him? Shouldn’t it be vice versa?’

James saw the hesitation in her eyes and his eyes darkened,

"What? You don’t want to?" he asked in an overbearing voice exuding an overbearing aura. Dora had no idea James had it in him to be so intimidating.

"Erm...No, no, responsibility... yes take responsibility..." Dora stammered out the words not even paying attention to what she was saying.

"Good, you’re mine now, don’t you dare act close to other men again," he said domineeringly.

Dora’s heart skipped a beat at his straightforward words, but after she allowed his words to sink in, she puckered her lips in anger and glared at him.

"I hardly leave these palace grounds but you act as if I go out and meet men whenever I please," she complained.

James recalled seeing her smiling at something Amirion told her the last time at the banquet and his mood soured.

"Stay away from Amirion," he said simply. Even though that man looked trustworthy and had proven himself for the past few weeks, James still had a feeling there was something mysterious about him.

"Are you jealous?" Dora said her lips, which looked slightly plump after their kiss a moment ago, curved up into a shy smile.

"Stop doing that, I’ll be tempted to kiss you again," James warned.

Dora’s eyes widened at his shameless words and she glared at him.

"And who gave you the permission to kiss me?" She asked.

"You are mine, and you agreed to take responsibility for me, so I don’t need your permission," he said domineeringly.

"You...I...I will complain to the princess that you made me say those words under duress and took advantage of me," she threatened but he only smirked at her words.

"Well, I’ll just take you as my wife then."

"You...you brute."

"Should I show you how a brute acts?" He said with raised eyebrows as his hands effortlessly wrapped around her waist and yanked her towards him, caging her in his embrace.

"I...I take it back!" Dora begged.
