Reborn As A Ghost: Time To Build My Undead Army!-Chapter 1789: Saving The Toykin
-----
Seeing the Toykin celebrating, Lucifer felt a flicker of irritation as he noticed movement below.
"We can’t declare victory yet," he said. "Look down there! They’re trying to escape!"
The mecha dragon glanced downward and spotted Prince Ameth-Ra still alive, slowly crawling out of the rubble, supported by two desperate survivors who dragged him free from the debris.
"Nnnggh...! No, we can’t leave Lord Anubis here!" he growled in fury. "W-We have to bring him back home! Father will kill me if I don’t!"
He lunged toward the Divine Tomb, reaching out with his Divine Aura, but the dragon descended swiftly.
"Prince, watch out!"
"Please run!"
"That thing’s coming!"
His subordinates shouted warnings, yet Ameth-Ra’s face twisted into a frantic, despair-filled smile as he struggled to haul the massive golden coffin attached to its glowing crystal core.
"No, no, no! I can... I can do this! I can do this!" he screamed. "Just let me—!"
CRAAASH!
A colossal dragon claw slammed down, crushing his body onto the pavement. Blood sprayed across the stone in vivid red streaks.
The surviving subordinates gasped in horror, collapsing to their knees in utter despair.
"T-The prince!"
"He’s dead...!"
"No... Oh no!"
As their cries echoed, the giant dragon reverted to its pyramid form. A ghostly aura surged forward, seizing Ameth-Ra and the dozens of fallen subordinates.
"Arise."
Their bodies knit together, infused with new "life"—or rather, undeath.
Ghostly chains bound the souls of those who still lived, claiming them as Maria’s subordinates.
"Uugh...! My head...! What happened?!" Ameth-Ra stirred, only to find himself inside the pyramid.
Maria had already retrieved the remaining debris, storing it within her Shadow Realm—including the slumbering God Anubis sealed in his Divine Tomb.
"Hey, Ameth-Ra, right?" Maria greeted him with a gentle, almost serene smile. "I’m Maria. I was the one who killed you. But since these Toykin hadn’t yet made you pay, they’re going to keep torturing you for a while. I hope you don’t mind."
"W-Wha...?!"
Ameth-Ra’s handsome face contorted in raw horror as he saw Bobby, Christine, Wrecker, and Itsy surrounding him, their bare hands blazing with Dream Flames.
"Hey, so you’re the bastard who killed hundreds?" Wrecker asked coldly.
"We watched you die, and even then, it didn’t feel enough," Bobby said.
"Although we’re known as peaceful beings, when someone truly evil walks among our people..." Christine added quietly. "We punish them severely."
"We take away their limbs!" Itsy declared. "So we’re taking yours!"
"H-Huh?! Wait, wait...! We can talk this out— WAIT! AAAAAGH!"
Maria walked away calmly, leaving Ameth-Ra to his fate. She could hear every sickening tear as they ripped off his limbs, blood splattering everywhere.
She stored the pyramids in her Shadow Realm and moved toward the Thebes Army outpost.
There, with her family, she demolished their fortress, slaughtered everyone inside, and raised them as undead under her command. She welcomed them into her Soul Realm while extracting every scrap of information she could.
"Well, this day brought a lot of unexpected gains! I even claimed the slumbering soul of an Egyptian God sealed in a Divine Tomb... Oh? They’re finally done?"
While Maria rested with her family inside the pyramids, the group of Toykin finally emerged, drenched in Ameth-Ra’s blood.
She glanced at his condition. It was gruesome: limbs torn away, forced to suffocate on his own arm, then carved into pieces.
"We’re done..." Bobby sighed heavily. "I hope our lost friends can finally rest in peace."
"Indeed..." Wrecker nodded solemnly.
"Whew, we’re all soaked in blood. I bet we look terrifying, haha..." Christine laughed nervously.
"Well, we’ve seen worse," Emeraldine said with a sigh. "You should go take a bath. There are even baths inside here." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"Before that... we wanted to thank you all for what you did," Bobby said earnestly. "It happened so fast, but it’s all thanks to you. You’ve not only earned our friendship—you’ve won the loyalty of every Toykin."
"That sounds wonderful. Thank you, Bobby," Maria replied with a nod. "Let’s return to the Abandoned Manor for now."
The team headed back. Maria asked if she could "keep" Ameth-Ra, explaining he was a valuable asset. After what they had done, the Toykin showed no objection.
She revived his undead body once more, though his mind remained shattered by the torture. He stared silently at the floor.
"Huh, they really did a number on you," Maria teased lightly. "You and I will become great friends. Rest for now."
She patted his head before walking away. King Snugglion III greeted everyone warmly with his knights, and news of the three pyramids’ destruction spread rapidly.
"All hail our saviors! Hahaha!"
Celebrations lasted through the night. Maria decided to stay with her family. They chose a charming little hotel outside the couch, an oddly delightful experience like living inside a dollhouse.
When morning arrived, Maria prepared to depart. She met with Snugglion, Bobby, and the others for a final discussion about Thebes’ plans for their people.
She revealed the scheme to revive the God, the true power of the pyramids, and how their technology functioned.
She promised to modify the pyramids into powerful tools to aid her—and to help these people fight the tower’s threats.
Even better, she had successfully redirected Thebes’ aggression toward herself by possessing Anubis. She had overheard through intercepted transmissions how they intended to hunt her down.
She shared her broader plan to destroy the tower, and they agreed wholeheartedly to support her.
"On behalf of our people, I will stand with you without hesitation," Snugglion said firmly.
"Count on us!" Bobby declared. "When you return, share your plans. We’ll follow you to the end of the earth."
"You even granted us a wonderful power. We owe you more than words can express," Wrecker added with a nod.
"Please take care!" Christine said warmly.
"Yeah! Good luck!" Itsy cheered.
After a hearty breakfast, Maria and her family stepped through to the next floor, this time free from distant spies or hidden watchers.
FLUOSH!
Maria moved steadily through the dimensional membranes separating one world from the next.
Upon reaching Floor 38, she and her family found themselves surrounded.
Hundreds of gigantic machines, dozens of floating pyramids, and a colossal mechanical god loomed in the sky.
"She’s here! I can feel the power of Anubis within her! Retrieve the Divine Tomb! Avenge Ameth-Ra!"
Thebes had not forgiven what she did to their prince.
Maria, however, smiled calmly.
"Good. I needed a warmup."
