Chapter 1792: Floor 37, Gemmetria

-----

Upon the defeat of the Four Machine Overlords, Maria received no Divinity Throne. She realized this world either possessed none or its true owner was absent.

The world was called Mechthrone. As the group explored and visited one of the few intact bases, they discovered it was a vast wasteland where machine factions waged endless wars for territory and resources.

Humans had gone extinct roughly two hundred years earlier, wiped out by these very machines.

"This world is like the bad future from Terminator, huh? Crazy."

Her family found the barren wasteland dull and unappealing, so after an hour of wandering, they chose to proceed immediately to the next floor. They had heard it was a beautiful place currently facing some difficulties.

"Terminator? I have no idea what that is, but it sounds great if you like it, Mother of Sorrow!" Anubis said cheerfully.

"Hey, is the dog going to hang around with us now?" Lucifer asked, crossing his arms with a grumpy frown.

"Hahaha, well, he doesn’t have much choice," Maria laughed. "He’ll behave."

"Hmph. I don’t really like him," Lucifer muttered angrily.

"Me neither!" Partner added.

"I think he’s funny..." Emeraldine giggled.

"Wow, a lot happened..." Alma said. "Hey Maria, are you okay though? Like... you took several nukes."

"I’m alright," Maria replied. "I neutralized the radiation anyway, and all of you are tough enough to resist it too."

"I don’t think I could take a nuclear bomb to the face..." Alma said.

"I think you could by now..." Maria answered.

"EH?!" Alma gasped.

"Anyway, I’m already used to her antics," Arthur sighed. "Is that the portal?"

"Yeah, me too, Arthur," Jonathan nodded. "And I think it is!"

Everyone approached the portal, surrounded by a small city where machines and robots moved freely in every direction. These belonged to the rogue faction that refused to serve any of the four Machine Overlords. They welcomed Players and were generally peaceful.

It was fascinating to see machines govern a world independently, yet to Maria it felt hardly different from one ruled by humans. In the end, they fought over the same things—power, territory, survival. It was painfully obvious they had been created in humanity’s image.

"It’s like some ironic twist of fate for these robots. In the end, they’re all so similar to humans and embody every flaw that led to humanity’s extinction."

Maria quietly marveled at the countless worlds she had visited, each carrying such strikingly different destinies.

"All right, let’s go."

She stepped into the next portal with her family, passing through shimmering membranes until they arrived in a vibrant, crystalline world filled with dazzling lights. A rainbow sky stretched overhead, dotted with more than five different moons and three suns.

"Woah, it’s hot here..." Alma sighed. "Oooh!"

"W-What is this world?!" Nyx asked in wonder.

"It’s so pretty compared to the previous one!" Celes smiled brightly.

"But it’s really hot, eugh... three suns?! You have to be kidding me..." Partner groaned, already drenched in sweat.

"Hm, I like the heat here," Lucifer smiled, basking in the sunlight.

"It’s nice, I agree," Emeraldine nodded. Branches sprouted from her body, drinking in the radiant energy.

"Ah, well, it’s around the same heat as the desert I come from," Nia shrugged.

The world was composed entirely of colorful crystals. Mountains shimmered with diamonds, trees rose from spirit crystals, and the ground glowed with crystalline glass. Flowers, grass—everything sparkled like jewels.

Six moons gleamed above the rainbow sky, crystalline and radiant like sapphires, emeralds, and rubies.

Three suns of varying sizes burned brightly: a large yellow one, a small red dwarf, and a medium white sun.

Life flourished rapidly here. Beyond the crystalline "vegetation," small creatures resembling jeweled centipedes with butterfly wings fluttered away. Deer-like beings with multiple legs and two heads roamed, grazing on crystal plants, their bodies also forged of pure gemstone.

It was a world of crystals, a breathtaking, glowing realm of endless color.

"Amazing," Maria smiled, gazing around in quiet awe. "Ferleen, you didn’t tell us it was going to be so beautiful!"

"Aaah, of course—it would have ruined the surprise," Ferleen replied with a grin.

"Heheh, despite how hard climbing the tower can be, every time you reach a new world, it feels so rewarding to see what another realm looks like!" Melianna said.

"Hmm, this is a wonderful world," Anubis appeared in a smaller form at Maria’s side. "Shall we loot it all of its jewels?"

"What?! No!" Maria snapped. "Why would we ever do that?"

"A-Ah... I apologize... I jumped the shark, as humans say," Anubis lowered his head in shame.

"Okay, let’s head to the town nearby!" Maria said.

According to Ferleen, they had arrived in an area known as Diamond Peaks, home to a single large city governed by the intelligent inhabitants of this world.

"This world is called Gemmetria," Ferleen explained. "And as you can see, everything is made of gems and follows geometric shapes."

"Its inhabitants are... ah, there’s a group of them over there," he said, pointing into the distance.

Near a valley stood a group of tall creatures composed of glowing gems arranged in geometric forms—cubes, cylinders, rectangles, triangles, and more.

They possessed large, luminous eyes framed by long, jewel-like eyelashes. They looked surprisingly cute as they used psychic powers to levitate and collect glowing crystals rich with spiritual energy.

"Hiiii!" Nyx waved enthusiastically.

The Gemmetrians turned, moving in response and emitting a series of buzzing sounds generated by electromagnetic fields around their bodies.

"BBZZZTT! BZZT, BZZ!"

No one could understand their language.

"Ah yeah, they don’t speak languages like we do," Ferleen said.

"They talk like buzzing radios..." Alma remarked.

"It’s so weird..." Arachne said. "But they’re pretty. I wouldn’t mind collecting a few in my hoard."

"What are you, a dragon?" Arthur asked.

"I have my hoard... I don’t have to be a dragon for that..." Arachne blushed, feeling a little embarrassed.

Everyone marveled at the stunning beauty of this world, but the heat intensified as the day progressed. Alma and Celes created a refreshing icy aura around the group, while Maria summoned shadows to shield them from the direct sunlight.

"Much nicer~"

In that way, they walked for about half an hour before reaching a nearby town. The portal lay in a farther city, but since they were exploring, the detour felt worthwhile.

The town, naturally, was constructed entirely of glowing jewels in every color. Gemmetrians made up the majority of its population. Restaurants served gems and jewels as food, while others offered "alien cuisine" for visitors from the Tower.

They wandered, enjoyed themselves, met various people and Gemmetrians, and Maria bought a large quantity of Magic Gems, Jewels, and Diamonds at remarkably low prices.

Afterward, they had lunch together in a restaurant, sampling the truly terrible food the Gemmetrians had worked so hard to prepare. They ate it politely—they didn’t want to shatter their little crystal hearts.
