Reborn as a Transcendent-Chapter 755Book 3: : This One Is a Threat!
Seeing this entirely expected change, Yae-hime’s expression remained calm, yet inside she was practically bursting with excitement.
‘Wonderful, simply wonderful!’ This golden bead could absorb life energy, which meant it could store life energy. It could even store other forms of energy as well. ‘Even though I don’t yet know how to use this little bead, the fact that it can store power alone already makes it incredible!’
In the game, Yae-hime never had to worry about running out of energy. Out in the real world, however, things were completely different. She had no items that could rapidly replenish her mana.
Relying solely on passive energy absorption was far from sufficient. If she ever ran into a dangerous situation, that shortfall could be fatal. Now that she could store energy inside the golden bead and take it with her, it was essentially the same as obtaining a recovery item.
As for how effective it was, she had not tested it yet, so she did not know. She also had not figured out how to properly use it. Still, anything obtained for free was always a delight.
“Mmmn…”
Just as Yae-hime was about to study the golden bead more closely, the young girl suddenly let out a lazy, muffled groan.
Her eyelashes trembled, and she slowly opened her eyes. They were pitch-black eyes, deep like an abyssal pool, exuding an indescribable allure.
The moment she saw this, Lili’s entire body tensed. Her small hands clenched tightly as energy surged within her, ready to erupt at any moment. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
“You’re awake,” Yae-hime said calmly, her tone casual and unhurried. She had only restored the girl’s bodily functions. Not a trace of her strength had returned. In other words, the girl was harmless in her current state.
Still groggy from just waking up, the girl heard the voice and instinctively looked over. The fog in her mind cleared the instant her gaze fell on Yae-hime, and her thoughts began to move again.
She stared at Yae-hime without saying a word.
“Do you feel unwell anywhere?” Yae-hime asked.
“……” The girl did not respond. She blinked, her expression full of confusion. ‘Who am I? Where am I? And who is this pretty older sister in front of me?’
As those thoughts formed, a dull ache spread through her head. Fragments of scattered memories surged chaotically, as though they were about to tear her mind apart and burst free.
“Do you feel unwell anywhere?” Seeing her suddenly clutch her head with both hands, her face contorting in pain, Yae-hime asked again. This time, concern was evident in her voice.
Lili grew even more vigilant, her beautiful eyes never leaving the girl for even half a second.
“*¥%…&%…” The girl’s headache intensified to the point of agony, and she began muttering meaningless sounds.
‘It looks like her brain has suffered serious damage.’ Yae-hime’s eyes instantly turned emerald-green as she once again saw through the girl’s body, immediately pinpointing the problem.
Traces of lightning energy were raging violently within the girl’s brain.
‘This wasn’t present while she was unconscious. It must have appeared after she woke up.’ With that thought, Yae-hime condensed a thin green needle and, in a flash, pierced it into the girl’s head.
She immediately extracted the lightning energy from within. The entire process was incredibly swift. By the time the girl could even react, it was already over.
“All done. You’re fine now,” Yae-hime said as she withdrew her hand, a gentle smile spreading across her face.
The girl continued holding her head, her small face filled with confusion. Then, as realization dawned on her, she looked up at Yae-hime. ‘She helped me? That’s strange… this person makes me feel very comfortable, very close.’
“Do you feel unwell anywhere else?” Yae-hime asked softly.
The girl shook her head.
‘That’s odd. I clearly couldn’t understand what she was saying before, yet now I can…’ No matter how much she thought about it, she could not make sense of it.
“That’s good to hear. By the way, what’s your name?” Yae-hime bent down slightly and asked in a friendly tone. She felt there was something off about this girl, as if she was not quite all there mentally.
“Na… name…” The girl’s delicate brows knitted together as she tried hard to recall it. Her mind was filled only with scattered fragments, and very little usable information. After searching for a while, she finally remembered her name.
“Zerene.”
Aside from her name, everything else remained a blank. It felt as though, unless those fragments were pieced back together, she would never be able to recover her memories.
“Zerene, that’s a lovely name,” Yae-hime said with a smile. She then asked, “Where are you from?”
Hearing this, the girl who called herself Zerene tried hard to recall it again. Yet the only thing that surfaced in her mind was terrifying heavenly lightning. Bolts of thunder had rained down upon her again and again, like divine punishment, relentlessly tormenting her.
“No!” As the memory surfaced, Zerene clutched her head with both hands, her entire body trembling uncontrollably. It was clear that she was genuinely terrified.
Such a reaction left both Yae-hime and Lili utterly confused.
“She looks… kind of strange,” Lili said in a low voice.
“Yes, something’s wrong with her mind,” Yae-hime nodded lightly.
“Her mind is broken?” Lili asked in mild surprise.
“It seems like amnesia,” Yae-hime replied.
All the symptoms Zerene displayed were consistent with memory loss. Combined with what she had just seen through her earlier inspection, it was essentially confirmed.
“So her brain was probably damaged by the heavenly lightning,” Lili said, instantly relaxing. Severely injured and having lost her memories, this version of Zerene posed little threat to them.
“Don’t worry. No one here will hurt you,” Yae-hime said softly as she looked at Zerene.
For some reason, upon hearing that voice, the fear in Zerene’s heart suddenly diminished by a great deal. She lifted her head and looked at Yae-hime, the sense of closeness growing ever stronger. It was as if she were looking at a family member.
“I remember something scary… but I can’t remember anything else,” Zerene said pitifully, tears welling up in her eyes.
Even so, Lili remained somewhat on guard. Until she was certain the other party was harmless, she could not completely relax.
“It’s alright. I’m here. Nothing will happen to you,” Yae-hime said, reaching out to gently pat Zerene’s head.
Zerene blinked her watery eyes, suddenly feeling an overwhelming urge to cry. She desperately wanted to cling to the stunningly beautiful girl in front of her and burst into sobs.
No, she already had. She threw herself into Yae-hime’s arms and cried without restraint.
Lili tried to pull Zerene away from Yae-hime, but the latter stopped her.
“She’s very unsettled,” Yae-hime said softly. As she spoke, she gently stroked Zerene’s back.
Watching this scene, Lili felt a sour sensation rise in her chest, leaving her deeply uncomfortable. ‘This Zerene is a major threat!’
Crying and crying, Zerene eventually fell asleep.
“She’s just like a little child,” Lili said unhappily.
‘You’ve cried before too.’ Yae-hime rolled her eyes.
After placing Zerene onto the bed, the two of them stood off to the side.
“Do you think she could be acting?” Lili asked quietly.
“No. I know her physical condition very well,” Yae-hime shook her head.
“I see,” Lili said softly as she looked at the sleeping Zerene.
Compared to before, her sleeping face was noticeably more peaceful.
“At this point, we don’t even know if she’s an enemy or an ally. That’s troublesome.” Lili withdrew her gaze and let out a quiet sigh. If Zerene had shown hostility or goodwill the moment she woke up, things would have been easier to deal with.
But now she had amnesia. No one knew whether she would regain her memories. And if she did, whether she would become an enemy.
“Let’s wait and see,” Yae-hime said optimistically. She was still inclined to trust her own instincts. “Enough of that. It’s getting late. Let’s rest.”
As she spoke, Yae-hime lay down on her side on the bed, her pale hand lightly patting the mattress as she beckoned Lili over.
“All three of us sleeping on such a small bed?” Lili said indignantly, glancing at the sound-asleep Zerene.
