Reborn ghost seeing lady is pampered by her ex husband-Chapter 580: Demon kissed.
Hastily with her feet stomping on the muffled fur rag that run across the hallway, Morgan led the group to a quiet room with minimal furniture, only three chairs were available, yet Morgan did not care that it was less than the people in the room.
She did not send for any new furniture and simply sat in her chair, gazing on her company as if they were insects.
"Rebecca you can have a seat; I do not want you fainting because you stood for too long. We would not want to hold a second funeral now, would we?" Morgan's voice was smooth yet full of sarcasm.
A scoff came from grandma Mayfair before settling in one of the chairs. "Do not worry yourself about me, I am in perfect health, my funeral will not be held for another eighteen years at least. Don't let this walking cane fool you, it's a weapon that I use to strike old blabbering fools that think they can outsmart me." As she spoke, her eyes remained fixed on Morgan as if to say that she was the old blabbering fool.
Secretly, Maureen gave her mother a thumbs up. Morgan Montgomery needed to be taken down a peg. The woman thought she was royalty or something.
Morgan's jaw twitched with tension. "Why did you bring that cursed child to my house Rebecca?" Her words dripped like poisoned honey, soft and lethal. "Do you think that it is a myth or some hateful rumor we made up out of the blue? A curse follows that girl just like it did her mother.
Why do you think that she is the only one that came out of the accident alive? She was demon kissed for sure. For old times' sake I advise that you keep her far away from your family just like I prefer to keep her away from mine." She ran her fingers in her raven black hair, visibly frustrated.
There were a few meanings of demon kissed. One meant the child was marked by darkness, possibly blessed or cursed. Two, it could mean the child was gifted with forbidden powers. Three, it could refer to a child being destined for greatness or ruin. Four, demon kissed was used to refer to children that survived demon encounters but carried a scar or magical imprint from the event. The last meaning was that the child could be a vessel for a demon, hiding inside them, waiting for the right moment to awaken.
From the facts at hand, Rekha was number four as far as the Mayfair's could guess.
"If I am demon kissed then you are demon loved because evil becomes you. Believe me I did not come here because I wanted to." Rekha retorted, speaking up for herself. "And if there is anyone evil here, it is the cruel black-haired witch that I am staring at right now." She added, insulting her grandmother.
Morgan released a loud sneer. "You can defend yourself all you want but my words remain as clear as the sky today. I want you gone as soon as possible so state your reasons for your presence here today. Why did you come to my house after all these years of not hearing your squeaky voice plead with me to take you back? Not that it would have mattered anyway." Her words were a slow slap across Rekha's face, letting her know that she was still unwanted.
Old lady Mayfair pinched Maureen and Andre's hands, urging them to remain calm. There were some battles that Rekha needed to fight for herself and this was one. She needed to scream, shout, insult or slap any Montgomery she came across as she wished.
Old lady Mayfair nodded at Phoebe. The battle of words could wait for a while.
"Obed Montgomery does not want to be buried instead he wants to be cremated. We are here to fulfill his last wishes so that he can move on to the afterlife." Phoebe spoke up.
A hollow sound came from Morgan__ not quite a laugh, neither was it a choke but it was as sharp as a broken smile. "You are crazy! How dare you tell such a lie? Obed knows the rules of this family and our customs....."
"Yeah, sick customs that he does not want to be a part of. You people make me sick and you will be hearing from the council." David threw in rudely. He had no room for politeness because he was tired of being there. Something about this Montgomery manor was suffocating.
Morgan let out a heavy sigh, her sharp gaze shifted from Phoebe to David. "What do you mean by that?"
David growled to the skies, "Really...are you going...."
Phoebe gestured at David to keep his calm about what they already knew and take it slow. Rather than stand around here exchanging words and listening to denials, she would rather to explore on her own and handle the case. "Excuse me I need to use the rest room." She turned to leave and so did the guardians.
"No_no_no," Morgan screeched, slapping her desk angrily continuously, "If you are leaving this room then it is to the parking area. I do not trust any of you and I don't want you all meandering freely in my house spreading such stupid lies. If Obed had a message to pass on from the beyond the veil like he wanted to be cremated he should have approached any Montgomery of his choice.
Why would he come to strangers instead of family? Do not think that I will give you the opportunity to ruin us the way you have ruined other families with your nosiness. You Mayfair's have become troublemakers on the lane. Obed will be buried, show yourselves out." She spoke nonchalantly.
Word was already spreading, if you had problems and needed Phoebe Mayfair's help, better go with an NDA lest Rebecca and Jennie would spread your private problems everywhere. They were more efficient at spreading gossip than any paparazzo or blog.
Maureen let out a dry, mirthless chuckle. "You old shameless woman what are you hiding? You are obviously afraid that we will find something, so you don't want us looking around. Unfortunately for you, I am senior guardian so that won't work on me. Why are you so determined to bury a man that does not want to be buried?" She probed; her gaze narrowed at Morgan.
Morgan sprang to her feet, her venomous eyes glued at Maureen. "Get out of my house all of you, leave now before I call my security to throw you out!" Her finger pointed at the door, calling for security.
"We cannot leave just yet Obed...." Rekha paused when the spirit appeared suddenly and told them it was time to leave.
Phoebe blinked rapidly, confused. "We have not accomplished the mission; I'll just knock her out and we can get to work." She moved to cast a spell.
"There is no need, we have what we came here for. There cannot be a funeral if there is no body." The spirit voiced to her.
