Chapter 1132: Safe...or not?

Jin woke early in the morning just as was decided. Seeing a sleeping Alix adorably wrapped up in his arms melted his heart. It looked like she finally managed to get decent sleep.

He softly cleared his throat. "Alix. I have to leave."

When she didn’t respond, he poked her shoulder but she only furrowed her brows in return.

"Sshh."

He whispered. "I need to go. It’s morning only."

She only hummed groggily and he sighed. He moved just a bit to release her when she pulled him back on the bed in further annoyance.

"Alix-"

"Sshh."

"..."

He felt poking her any further would only incur her wrath.

What am I supposed to do now?

Mui yawned and stretched her arms as she walked in the corridor. She was a late morning bloomer but thirst broke her sleep.

"How come you are awake?" She heard a shocked gasp from her mother, who had just stepped out all showered and ready.

"Yay, Mom is here. Please bring water for me? I’ll head back to date my sweet sleep~"

"Go fetch water yourself! You are at the height of being lazy!" She glared.

"Aaahhhhhh!" She cried in frustration. "Fine! Nobody loves me here anyway!"

She saw her heading towards Alix’s room and asked, "Sis wakes up even later than me. What’s the point?"

"The wedding is hardly a day away and there are still so many things to do! Especially trying out her bridal dress and jewelry."

Mui’s sleep began to wear off.

Brother-in-law must have left, right? There’s no way he would still be in the room, right? Obviously, he won’t. Who will my sister marry then? A dead body?

She scoffed.

He won’t be that stupid.

She was proved wrong when her phone buzzed urgently.

’Your mom is knocking outside the door! Please get her away!’

Her gaze darkened by several shades.

Is he an idiot!? Why the hell is he still here when I clearly instructed him to disappear without a trace!

She angrily typed back.

’You are on your own!’

’I knew it! You are awake!’

Fuck, I shouldn’t have replied.

’Just hide in the bathroom!’ She typed out in frustration.

’I cannot because Alix is asleep. She will turn into a demon if I force her awake!’

Her expression twisted further.

’So go sacrifice yourself, who cares? Better than getting fried alive by our moms! They are the real deal, not sis!’

’I don’t have the heart to wake her up. She is snuggling me like a koala bear.’

Her expression, at that point, was unbearable.

Was I really scared to death of this man until just a few months ago? Did a parasite take over his brain? Has he completely lost it!?

"Mom!"

Mui ran over to her side and sheepishly grinned, wrapping her arms in hers.

"Mui look, Alix is not opening the door even after I knocked for so many times."

"Mom, just let her sleep. Don’t you see how tired she looks everyday with all the dark circles? If she has finally gotten some good sleep, then let’s not disturb her. She can try on the dress later!"

"But there are so many things to do," she pursed her lips.

"We can adjust the schedule later. Let her have some good rest for now. The wedding day is gonna be super tiring anyway. She should reserve her energy, especially for the wedding night-"

"Shush!" She smacked her hard. "You don’t need to go into so much detail!" She cleared her throat, slightly embarrassed.

She grinned. "Anyway, let the sleepyhead sleep! Let’s talk about my dress and jewelry in MY room!"

"You decided upon it ages ago, didn’t you?"

"I feel like changing my look here and there so come with meeeee!" She started to drag her far away from Alix’s room.

Then she sneakily typed back. ’You owe me so much more than you did last night! Both of you! Got it?’

Liu villa.

Jin scanned his surroundings to be completely sure that the path to his room was without any obstacles. It wasn’t exactly the ideal time to return home but it was what it was. He held his back straight and walked in, quickly but confidently, as though he had no relationship with guilt whatsoever.

"Jin?"

He had almost made it to the top of the stairwell when he cursed out.

So close!

He slowly turned and saw Liu Chunhua approaching him.

Calm, be calm. You just don’t have to look like you have killed someone...

"You were outside somewhere?" She was surprised. "I thought you were in your room."

"Grandma!" He grinned. "I...was out for a jog."

She scanned him top to bottom. "In these clothes? Not your comfortable gym ones?"

He waved his hand in dismissal. "I was just too lazy to change..."

"Not lazy to jog but lazy enough to change?" Jun and Ai, passing by and who heard the conversation, joined in. It was Jun who had asked.

Jin stiffened upon his brother’s pointed stare as if he was already standing for trial. He nervously chuckled. "It’s not like that, Bro..."

"Does getting into the right clothes really matter?" Ai harrumphed. "You are just bullying my brother-in-law."

"But he..." his eyes narrowed further, "smells different. I feel suspicious. This jog...where did you go for it?"

Does sleeping with Alix give off some kind of a scent? His heart dropped.

"I-I don’t know what you-"

"It’s the fragrance of beautiful flowers and sunshine!" Ai put her hands on her waist, glaring at Jun. "Why are you being so mean to him today? Look, how tired he is. Jin, you should get showered and freshen up. We have the bridal chamber ritual today! So many things to do. Go, go!"

"Yeah!"

Jin felt her hard stare at him and he gulped.

Does she...know?

He quickly hopped away to escape Jun’s questioning.

Liu Chunhua said, "I will go and see how far things are coming along."

As she left, Ai nodded too. "I have so many things to do too."

She was about to hop away too when she was promptly pulled back by her husband.

"Where are you going?"

She pursed her lips. "This is a wedding house. Where else will I go?"

"To comfort your brother-in-law that he is safe?"

"Safe from what?" She looked nothing different.

He smiled. "Yeah, that feigning of ignorance reminds me of the time you seduced me."

"I don’t know what you are talking about. Does it suit a respectable elder brother like you to bully your little brother? I have some concerns about that."

"More so than where your dearest brother-in-law was last night?"

Her brow threatened to twitch. "What do you mean where? Tossing and turning sleeplessly in his room, where else?"

"You-"

"Shush! So many things to do! Bye!"

Seeing her scurry away like a squirrel, he snorted. "The two are getting sneakier these days..."
