Reborn: The Return of the Villainous Mr. Liu-Chapter 1133: The Bridal Chamber ritual
The bridal bed preparation was a ritual done on the groom’s side where they would prepare the couple’s bedroom before the wedding to welcome the newly-wedded couple. An auspicious hour was chosen to perform this ritual where a ’good luck man’ and a ’good luck woman’ installed the new bed.
It didn’t involve literally installing the bed. Since Jin’s room already had a grand bed, it simply meant that the good luck man and woman had to merely move the bed slightly. The bed would be decorated all in red - red fruits and red flowers.
Nian, Jing and Ai were thoroughly impressed with their own artwork. They had left no stone unturned into preparing the bridal bed with everything red that they could find.
Jing wrapped his arm around Jin’s shoulder and grinned. "Somebody’s going to have a lot of fun at their wedding night huh~ Come on, praise us! Didn’t we do such a good job?"
Jin glanced around his room, dumbfounded. "It’s too...red."
"That’s the whole essence of traditional weddings. Everything must be in red!"
"Isn’t this a bit too much?"
"Nothing is too much!"
He leaned closer and found a heart struck with an arrow drawn on the bed with red rose petals.
Nian and Ai looked very proud. "It was hard to get the shape right."
Liu Chunhua sighed. "You do know you would have to redo it, right? When the children would jump over, it would be all messed up. That’s why I told you to just scatter the petals for now."
Nian and Ai gasped and were heartbroken. They got so lost with the decorations that it didn’t occur to them that some part of it was supposed to be done after the ritual.
"Noooooooo!!"
A scoff came. "Tsk. This is how the groom’s side is. So forgetful and irresponsible!"
Nian sneered. "What are you doing here, Grandpa? Shoo. Go shine your non-existent skills at the bride’s house."
Liu Hai sneered back. "It would be a hundred times better than you!"
With that arrived Jinhai and Nana - the good luck man and woman. The simple requirement to choose this particular couple was because out of all, they had many children. It was generally couples with many children who would move the bridal bed as part of the ceremony.
Who was there to compete Jinhai and Nana? So there wasn’t a speck of doubt in anybody’s mind as to who would install the bridal bed.
Nana shone and clapped once. "Oh my it’s so beautiful! Clearly, everybody went all out with the decor."
Nian and Ai stood tall and proud again.
Nana bent and chuckled, seeing Jun-kun and Ai-chan already perched on the bridal bed quite haughtily. "And who do we have here?"
*Meow*
Ai-chan enjoyed her ruffling pats while Jun-kun yawned lazily.
Liu Chunhua chirped. "Now, now, let’s start! Jinhai. Nana. You can move the bed now."
Jinhai’s brows furrowed a bit. "The bed is heavy. Nana could get hurt. I will move the bed."
Jin, who was video-recording the ritual to show it to Alix later, chuckled. "I knew Dad would say that."
Nana said, "I will be fine, Jinhai. It’s just moving it a bit."
"You had a heart surgery a few months back. What if this stresses you out? I will do it," he said with all seriousness.
Nana puffed up her cheeks. "It’s just nudging the bed a little. I’m not so fragile."
"But-"
"You want to sleep outside tonight?"
The warning was more than enough for Jinhai. Sleeping away from Nana was like a death sentence to him. His face dropped.
Nuo, who also helped from the groom’s side, patted her father’s shoulder. "Don’t look so sad, Dad! Everything will be fine!"
His daughter’s pats restored the lost light in his eyes.
They placed their hands on the bed and were ready to push when Jinhai poured 99.99% of the strength and nudged the bed to the side.
"Yaaayyyyyy!" Everybody clapped in delight.
Nana was dumbfounded. "It didn’t feel like I moved a muscle at all!"
Jinhai nodded. "You helped me a lot." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"It was all your strength!"
"No, it wasn’t. Half of it was yours."
"You are lying right to my face! My touch felt as light as a feather. It barely amounted to anything."
"Your feathery touch is more important than my strength," he nodded again.
Jun scratched his chin.
Ah, well...
Nana’s cheeks puffed up like two small balloons once again. "You are sleeping outside tonight!"
If the Liu Corps crashed in its entirety right now, even that wouldn’t cause Jinhai’s expression to twitch a single bit as much as separation from Nana did.
While Jinhai tried to comfort his angry wife, the next main characters of the ceremony arrived.
The children.
"Go, go, jump and play on the bed all you want," Liu Chunhua warmly said.
Children were invited on the bed as a good omen of fertility and married life. The more, the merrier. Part of the fun was children hopping around for the fruits the bridal bed was decorated with.
Needless to say, Ailun and gang leapt at this golden chance and poured all their hyperactivity into making an adorable mess of the bed.
"I found a red date!" Taio happily raised his hand.
Ruwen shyly said, "I found an orange!"
Ziyi was already munching on the pomegranates.
Aang, Yina and Ailun were all over the red rose petals, giggling and laughing as they rolled over them.
Added to the gang were also Ziyi, Ruwen and Muyang, which meant that Chyou, Guiying and Nuo were there to witness the ceremony too. Since Baihu and Muyang were still toddlers, they were only made to sit and crawl on the bed with extra attention.
Nian sniffled. "The heart and arrow were difficult to shape but it’s all worth it if Yina is rolling over it! It’s your Uncle Jini-boy’s heart anyway. You can crush it all you want~"
"Should I crush your heart right now?" Jin’s gaze darkened but he somehow managed to hold the phone steady.
When the ritual came to an end, Jin happily sent the video to Alix and he had captioned, ’The verdict is out. Dad is sleeping outside tonight.’
---
When Alix watched the video, needless to say, she was thoroughly entertained. The Liu family always made every event a delight.
Her gaze then followed a particular person in the video. Guiying had dropped a visit too for her son, Ruwen to be a part of the ritual. There were shots of her laughing and having fun with everybody.
Alix stared at her for a long time. She recalled what Jin had said to her during the trip.
’I think you should tell her.’
She rested her head back, staring at the ceiling.
Guiying...
