Chapter 550: Chapter 550: The Gauntlet: A Warrior’s Sacrifice

Down below, far below the surface of the planet, Exalon and the remaining kings had finally arrived at the core of the planet.

Floating in the empty space before them was a gauntlet, its form hovering between a paw and a hand.

It was big, it was black, and it was intimidating.

It seems to be made out of a metallic glass material that was also coarse like hard heated brick.

It just hovered there, in the darkness, its edges blending seamlessly with the void around it. It was unclear if it was there or not there at all.

"There it is," Exalon said, drawing close to the hovering black Gauntlet. He could see it with the help of the naturally enhanced vision of a lion.

"King Exalon, we need to hurry, it seems like the All-King is in trouble," One of the lion kings said in a panicked manner.

He and the rest of the lion kings present were starting to notice the abnormality in the lion system.

The group chat which they had shifted to the edge of their vision constantly glitches in and out of existence.

Something bad had happened on the surface.

"I’m aware," Exalon said, not wasting time, he flew toward the Gauntlet and stretched out his right paw.

All the lion kings watched, not willing to for it themselves. They all knew that to use the gauntlet, one would have to sacrifice a piece of themselves.

On a normal day, the gauntlet would have just been handed to the All-King and he would have thought of a way to use it.

But today was not a normal day, all that this day needed was for one single thing to go wrong for the lion race to be doomed forever.

"I will use it," Exalon stated with a firm will. Nothing could have prepared him for the sacrifice he was about to make. But as the lion king most loyal to Kael, he had to step up.

Kael was depending on this.

With a firm will and determined eyes, Exalon moved closer and closer to the black ancient gauntlet.

Suddenly, the gauntlet began to move, sensing the presence of a warrior.

It aligned itself where it was so that Exalon’s approaching paw and the vacant inside of the gauntlet could be facing the same point.

Exalon’s bulky figure inched infinitely closer. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

Then, his paw slid in.

The Gauntlet, which was quite large, began to adjust. The different parts and components of its being shifted and folded before unfolding again.

The transformation continued for a few seconds until it had fit Exalon’s paw perfectly.

Exalon was surprised, feeling that it was actually a lot less painful than he had imagined.

The gauntlet shifted into a form that mimicked the size and structure of Exalon’s paw, blending perfectly with his limb.

"It’s not that bad..." Exalon wanted to say before he was smashed into a different world of pain.

Forget that he was a warrior, forget that he was over a thousand years old, the pain he felt was divinely insane.

Exalon arched his head back and roared out loud in pain.

Needle-like things stuck out from the gauntlet’s interior, stabbing into his limb and shredding the flesh and bones.

The Gauntlet began another round of adjustments, gradually replacing all the organic parts of Exalon’s limb with the metallic glassy material of the Gauntlets.

*SHICK!*

The gauntlet released a sound and holes opened up on different sides of the weapon. Out of these holes, blood mist and bird of flesh poured out excessively.

Exalon tried his best to endure the pain. He could feel strange tendrils growing out of the gauntlet and entering his muscles to fuse with his nervous system.

At first, Exalon had to endure the pain of losing his arm, then he had to endure the pain of gaining another one.

One that every movement felt like he was being pricked by needles.

’Wait...’ Exalon opened his eyes in shock, ceasing his roar of agony.

He realized that he could move his paw.

He looked down to see that his original paw and forelimb had been replaced by a black glassy metallic half-limb and paw.

The new black claws reflected light like the surface of the hardest obsidian armour.

It was incredible, Exalon could feel the immediate jump in his power level. He was quickly approaching tier 7 and was soon to break through in a few seconds.

The stored power in the Gauntlet left behind by Jin was now flowing endlessly into Kael, nourishing his body and filling him with strength.

But Exalon wasn’t happy. Although he could feel himself getting stronger, he could also feel his connection to the lion system getting weaker.

Not to mention he felt a slight resistance from the Gauntlet, as though it had not yet accepted him as the through wielder.

The gauntlet needed blood. It required blood.

But Exalon also never intended to keep the Gauntlet for himself, even though he had lost a limb in the process.

If he could, he would give the treasure back to Kael and let him decide who to give it to.

Alas, if Exalon didn’t act fast, then he would have to hand the gauntlet to the cold corpse of the All-King.

Exalon’s grey fur and mane pressed tightly into his body. Black cracks and veiny lines spread from the base of the gauntlet to the rest of Exalon’s body.

"Let’s go!" Exalon roared, ignoring the pain.

*BOOM!*

His body tore back to the surface, surpassing the speed of sound in a single second and creating a massive shockwave that rocked the core of the planet which was suddenly starting to heat up.

Now that the Gauntlet was no longer where it was, the Battle Planet was now existing on a limited time.

The destruction of this world was imminent.

The final battle that the grand maestro, Jin the Purger, had foresaw.

Unfortunately, Jin never imagined that the current Primordial of this era would be besieged from all sides by his enemies and their schemes.

All at once.

The next few moments were meant to be grand and should determine the fate of the entire lion race.

*BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!...*

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!...*

The rest of the lion kings followed Exalon’s lead. They burst through the sound barrier, crushing and smashing through all the earthen barriers to get to the surface as fast as they could.

They could only hope that they would get there in time.

Their hopes were probably useless as a group of dragons and a frustrated demon horse had just made it to the battlefield above them.
