Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 606: The Sacrifice Of The Elders
Ma’abu was dead, at least, that was what his former allies thought.
It had been a long time since anyone heard from him. No one knew if he was still dead or alive somewhere.
Many speculated that he should be dead, and even if he wasn’t, he would probably be enduring horrifying torture beyond their comprehension.
After all, it was now a known fact that Ma’abu, leader of the Anti-Primordial Coalition had been captured on the Battle Planet during the miracle resistance against Ibadon.
Details of what had happened that day were lost to many and most of his allies didn’t care.
All that mattered was that Ma’abu had disappeared, and omg with him were the plans they had.
Ma’abu had never revealed the full extent of his plans.
The Creation Dragons were supposed to be at war with the Destruction Dragons so that they could distract Ibadon and prevent him from interfering.
Now, that purpose was lost.
Chen was supposed to perform a coup to seize power from the Primordial Tiger. That was also unlikely to happen without a sudden miracle.
The tortoises had kept their intentions to themselves even as they showed support for the existence of the alliance.
The Phoenix only wanted to capture the Primordials of the Fox and Peacock races for some unknown reason as it was said that they would be able to get a Primordial if they did something.
It wasn’t clear.
The only faction right now with the greatest motivation to keep moving is the Phoenix.
The Phoenix have been existing for a very long time and the reason they were partly mysterious was not that they didn’t want others to know about them but because of their low numbers.
At least, the Phoenix had a legitimate driving force that was a bit selfish but at the same time, it wasn’t.
That was why ever since Ma’abu disappeared, they had taken matters into their own hands and began to hunt viciously for the Primordial Fox and Primordial Peacock.
They had done a little digging and found out that there was a little charm essence snuggling ring going on in heaven.
Since the Leonine Heaven was now the de facto territory of the very racist Primordial Supporters, the Phoenix had to leave that piece of information alone for now.
They were not ready to go almost just to fight the lions and retrieve the Primordial Peacock.
But the Primordial Fox was another thing.
They had found it, they had found her, finally.
It had taken so long, so long, but they finally found her.
Eleanor and the elders of the Phoenix race had merely been resting their wings on a particularly small planet close to a star.
They had been basking in the light and heat as they prepared for another birthing season.
A time when they would have to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the continuation of their species.
They had no choice, this was their curse. It was a natural season that they couldn’t control at all.
Only for them to suddenly sense the presence of something familiar, something akin to a long-lost loved one.
This feeling that grew in the fiery hearts of the Phoenixes did not make them want to bow and show adoration for the cause.
Rather, it made them anxious.
Their texts had only spoken of two sources of that feeling welling up in the hearts of the Phoenixes.
The Primordials they were related to.
The Primordial Peacock was probably in the custody of the lions, so that would mean that the cause of this feeling in them at the moment was most likely from the Primordial Fox who had not yet been confirmed from many sources to exist.
Irrespective of the cause, the Phoenix elders were aware that they had to hunt down this being wherever it was.
This was their chance..
And so the hunt began.
From the surface of a tiny planet that lay at the closest orbit of a young star, multiple flashes of light could be seen, turning into beams that raced into the starry void.
Their destination, the edge of the galaxy where a new arkship had just arrived, oblivious to the gigantic flaming birds coming after them.
But how would these Phoenixes reach the edge of the galaxy from where they were? There was no arkship of theirs in sight.
How did they even reach here?
"Elders, flap at the ready!" Eleanor, the current overall leader of the Phoenix race, spoke with command and authority oozing out of her beak.
Her massive body which would easily span an entire standard human country soared through the void.
Every flap of her humongous wings created terrifyingly hot flares that propelled her forward.
Behind her, the elder Phoenixes also flapped their fiery wings hard with fierce will brewing in their minds.
This was the closest they had ever been to catching their desired Primordial.
There were a total of three hundred and thirty-three Phoenix elders here, all of them were at the tier 6 equivalent of power level.
That was the most basic requirement to be an elder, if not there would be way more than just three hundred and thirty-three.
Another requirement was the mastery of a certain technique that the Phoenixes had been using to fight off their rivals since they existed.
This technique was the reason they did not travel with arkships. It was the reason they could contend with powerful civilizations despite their low population.
Suddenly, Eleanor spun around, sweeping her wings into a fiery tornado that enveloped the elders behind her.
The bright and beautiful flames, which looked like a mixture between Original Fire and something else entirely, swarmed all the Phoenix elders.
They did not resist.
They allowed themselves to be bathed in the purifying flames of the cursed race.
Gradually, little by little, their bodies began to tremble and dissolve, merging with the fire coming from Eleanor.
Their feathers, then their flesh, blood, bones, their beaks, their eyes, and their consciousness. It was all merged into the spreading flames of the Phoenix.
Three hundred and thirty-three Phoenix elders had been sacrificed. Such was the brutal reality of the race.
Such sacrifices were necessary.
Now, it had been performed as they had seen the perfect opportunity.
Eleanor, the leader, had to bear the burden of this sacrifice.
The flames which were spreading suddenly stopped spreading and converged again, condensing around her body.
Her fiery wings became thicker and the light she emitted became very bright.
She was initially tier 7, the strongest the Phoenix race had. But now, her power level has been pushed to the edge of the immortal tier.
Albeit, this was only for a very brief period of time. She had to make good use of the Sacrifice of the Elders before it wore out.
Now, after the sacrifice, Eleanor who had once been the size of a standing human country was now the size of a small planet.
Her power lever soared in all directions. Her aura was so strong that space and time began to warp around her.
Eleanor turned into a stream of fiery light that moved at warp speed, crossing thousands of light-years in a few minutes.
As Eleanor hurled her superpowered body across the galaxy in pursuit of this mysterious Primordial Fox, the other Phoenixes could only wait behind.
They were cautious by nature. They knew that every one of them who died was going to push their race toward extinction.
If not for the greater good of their race, then at least, for their individual self. Not all Phoenixes were born with the righteous urge to bring their entire race to glorious heights.
Meanwhile, as Eleanor rushed past countless stars, the voices of the elders resounded in her mind.
The voices were loud, very loud. They were maddening, crazy enough to force molten tears out of Eleanor’s tear glands.
She had merged with the residual wills of those Elders and must pay all the price needed to maintain such power.
As she warped the space and time around her, Eleanor soon got close to the source of that strange feeling of peace and adoration.
She felt a connection.
A connection that shouldn’t have existed.
She didn’t remember such a connection existing in the ancient records.
But Eleanor utilized this mysterious connection to lock onto the exact location of the being she was looking for. She was even able to glean some information about what this being was.
"The Primordial Fox!" Eleanor screeched. The sound of her voice goes beyond the physical and ministers directly to the soul.
And this ministry was received by the adolescent mind of Ivana on the Arkship.
The screams, cries, and anguish of all the elders rang into her little soul, echoing over and over again.
They were many.
Indeed, they were.
But they were one too.
They were all Eleanor.
And Eleanor had just laid her scalding eyes on the arkship.
A quick scan and she discovered that there was no entity on this vessel to stand in her way.
Today, she would acquire the Primordial Fox, dead or alive, and she would rid her race of their curse.
