Chapter 618: Chapter 618: Seven Primordials

Charvi knelt on the ground, letting the blue gown she was wearing be stained with dry dirt from the ground.

She looked at the little peacock chicks running about the land; she smiled. It had been a long time since she had seen such a serene scene.

Behind her kneeling form, the current Caste Leader of the Peacock race was standing respectfully with his hands behind his back.

This was a very significant moment for him. He was watching the Primordial of his race and his future replacement play with the young ones of the Peacocks.

He had mixed feelings. He was glad that the Primordial Peacock was finally here, but he was also feeling bad that he would soon have to let go of his position.

The current caste leader couldn’t see it as Charvi was facing his back, but Charvi’s veil was stained with blotches of tears.

Charvi never knew that she could be so emotional, so vulnerable. So many scenes flash in her head.

What could she do?

Nothing.

What had happened had happened.

Even if she didn’t follow the Dragon Empress to heaven on that fateful day, it wouldn’t have changed anything as the planet she was living on was under the direct administration of the Dragon Empire.

One event led to another and she now found herself under the mercy of the All-King.

She could not tell whether this was a fortunate or unfortunate event, as she had not worked with Kael.

She didn’t even know what Kael wanted her to do.

Not just her, most Primordials didn’t exactly know what Kael wanted them to do besides exist as they were. Sure, he followed Kael’s orders and knew a little bit about his vision.

But as for what Kael actually wanted them to be doing, they didn’t really know.

"Are you dissatisfied?" Charvi suddenly asked as she pressed her palm on the ground to stand up.

The veil covering her face danced around but didn’t expose her face.

All around, different male and female peacocks, some in their humanoid forms, were watching Charvi seriously, especially the males who had familiar fires glowing in their eyes.

The land of the peacock chamber world was plain and flat.

"Dissatisfied?" The caste leader asked, unsure if she was talking to him. His heart beat faster when he heard that sweet beautiful voice, it reminded him of the first time he experienced his mating season.

So wonderful.

Charvi nodded, confirming his guess.

"I’m not dissatisfied," The caste leader said.

"You’re not being honest, little one," Charvi said.

The caste leader winced at being called a little one, but he didn’t protest.

He wasn’t aware that Charvi was by many magnitudes older than him and any other senior he knew.

Although she wasn’t aware of the four hundred years or so that passed when she was in that forced slumbering state, she had been brought up to speed.

Not to mention she had already been more than ninety years old before that and was already approaching her first century birthday.

"It’s not that I’m dissatisfied, I just wish there was another way," The caste leader said with honesty.

"Another way?" Charvi turned around to look at Charvi. Although the veil blocked her eyes, she could see very well as if there was nothing in front of her.

"Does that mean you enjoy what you’ve been receiving? Is the role of caste leader that good?" Charvi asked, tilting her head.

The caste leader nodded his head, "Well, it is. It’s the only position that gives you authority to decide the direction of your whole race. It also allows you to vote on joint laws and policies.

Hehehe, forget about the pay, it goes way beyond that..."

Charvi looked at the caste leader carefully. She could easily read his mind.

With his position as caste leader, this peacock had probably never encountered a single competitor when it came to getting the females.

He was thinking of the status downgrade too.

"So, there is nothing...wrong?" Charvi asked.

"Wrong, in what way?" The caste leader asked.

"No downsides, no issues, no corruption, nothing?" Charvi asked, searching for something that would validate her trust issues.

The caste leader thought for a moment. He leaned to the side and shifted his weight from one leg to the other.

"Uhm, there are flaws but that should be expected.

I mean, is there anything in this universe that is exempt from corruption?

Hehehe."

The peacock leader spoke like someone who was benefiting seriously from the corruption so it’s natural he wouldn’t have many bad things to say.

"And you all are satisfied with having the lion’s lord over you as the ultimate authority?" Charvi asked again, narrowing her gaze to look for cracks.

The caste leader shrugged his shoulders and sighed, "At first, it was weird, but we got used to it.

The lions are strong and they rarely work alone. A race that is not only very powerful, but also very social with each other...

If not anything, they deserve respect for that.

But that is also the reason why they are so impressive.

Defeating a single lioness is already a hassle, imagine going against the whole pride.

But I personally don’t see anything wrong with it.

As a matter of fact, for those of us who hold status in the caste, our authority gives us legitimacy.

With the lions standing above us, they can be the higher power for us to fall back on. Even against an uprising, we can be sure that unless the lions don’t want us, there’ll be nothing to fear."

The caste leader spoke, subconsciously trying to console himself about the fact that he had lost his autonomy long ago.

"You know the lions are very racist right?" Charvi asked.

This time, the caste leader didn’t respond, he refused to respond.

"Hmm, since I’m here, I might as well take over everything that you have been enjoying.

Do you mind being my advisor?" Charvi then asked the caste leader.

This was going to come around sooner or later, it was only a matter of time.

The caste leader’s eyes brightened, "It would be my pleasure," He said.

If not for the fact that this was an order straight from the All-King, the caste leader peacock would have never let go of his position.

Charvi could tell.

She was curious to know just how good it felt for these peacocks to be under the rule of the lions.

"Are you done here?" A deep authoritative voice came from behind Charvi, causing her to flinch.

The current peacock caste leader opened his eyes wide and subconsciously stepped back, "Your Majesty...!" He stammered.

When did Kael get there? He didn’t know.

He had been looking at Charvi all this time and had not noticed or seen anyone moving or teleporting to appear behind her.

He quickly bowed.

Charvi turned around to see Kael, the blonde-haired, golden-eyed Primordial, staring intently at her.

"All-King," She addressed him by the name she was used to.

"Are you done here?" Kael asked again.

He wanted to get this over with and move on to other things. In his eyes, Charvi should be thankful that he did not try to force her.

He could have done that.

He could have beaten her to a pulp and disfigured that beautiful face of hers. Kael was very much capable of such violence.

Charvi might be tier 6 but even she could tell from the weight of Kael’s aura, that she would not stand a chance at all.

Fortunately for her, Kael had found her in a vulnerable state which led to Kael deciding to learn about her past. This temporarily deactivated Kael’s desire to break anything that didn’t bend.

Now, he was waiting for Charvi to bend, if not...

"Yes, you’ve taken good care of them," Charvi nodded and said.

"And? I’ve already told you what is required of you.

Do you agree?" Kael asked, not beating around the bush.

Charvi nodded, hiding a smile behind her veil, "Yes," She said.

A golden stack of paper appeared in front of her, she signed it before looking back at Kael.

Kael nodded in satisfaction.

One more.

Now he had the Death Primordial, Hunting Primordial, Strength Primordial, Fire Primordial, Charm Primordial, Freedom Primordial, and Connection Primordial.

A total of seven.

That was very low compared to the desired number of three thousand.

But it was progress.

The number was sure to increase exponentially as long as everyone put in the work.

Kael needed to find all of them as they all held keys to his future dominance.

At the same time, Kael could feel his dominant Conquering Essence starting to interact with the other Law Essences, just as he predicted.

Kael turned to Charvi suddenly with a peculiar gaze, "Charvi, join the others and prepare yourselves."

"For what?" Charvi asked. She was unaware of the chaos going on in heaven and the universe.

"Soon, I’ll leak information about you to the dragons. I’m counting on Elizabeth to do something rash."

After that, Kael disappeared, leaving no explanation at all.
