Chapter 649: Chapter 649: The Firmness Of Her Intent

The next time Wei opened her eyes, there was something different about her.

Although there was no one present to be a witness, if they were, they would notice that there was now a firmness that she had previously been lacking after spending a long time in this place.

But at the same time, this caused the fear that had been passive within her to react harshly, slamming into the gates of her heart, rushing to squash away whatever it was that was trying to give her confidence.

The firmness in Wei’s eyes was a result of a mysterious yet familiar power that she had not felt in a very long time.

The last time she felt this power was when she was little and still a consort in training on Eridoria.

Back then, she had the privilege of having an extra power pool exclusively for Conquering Essence.

That was the last time she felt Conquering Essence moving actively within her besides the application of the lion system.

And now she felt it again.

The Conqueror’s Intent brushed against the back of her mind, making her eyes firmer and causing her brows to furrow slightly.

She was still feeling a great sense of fear, but as the milliseconds passed by, that fear was becoming less and less significant.

So what if she was afraid, her desire for conquest was becoming far greater than any fear she felt.

Therefore, the fear was acknowledged, but it was also becoming irrelevant.

As though it had not existed, the cold and moist breath she had been feeling on her neck disappeared.

The fear in her heart was rising fast by no means of her own. She couldn’t control it.

It would have taken over if not for the Conqueror’s Intent, which was present to not only suppress but also override its effects.

But how?

For close to a year now, she hadn’t felt the comfortable presence of the lion system, until now.

As if it wasn’t enough, she could still feel a pill at the back of her mind, as if something much greater was supposed to come but it was being blocked by something else.

A flash of gold appeared in front of Wei as she raised her head and began to stand.

A golden screen.

A chat prompt.

And the sender of the chat was not her mother, father, sister, or anyone she had expected.

It was the All-King himself, the person she was going through all this struggle for.

///

Kael: Where are you?

That was the first message she saw. This was also the first time she was going to engage in this type of system-based conversation with the All-King.

Wei was both skeptical and excited. She had suffered too much and was holding steadily on to hope, unwilling to believe that this was a hallucination.

///

Wei: I don’t know.

///

She truly didn’t know where she was.

Did this place even have a name?

As Wei was getting her sense of self back to full capacity, she was realizing that something must have happened in the outside world for the All-King himself to chat her up.

Did the others find out that they were missing? She asked herself.

Well, they should have, it’s been many months now and none of the lionesses were able to send messages through the system.

They all came from different clans.

Not to mention that her father was Prince Burdo, the brother of the All-King. Kael was bound to find out.

She didn’t have time to think about why Kael was interested in helping out as Kael sent her another message.

Kael: Relax and focus on your Intent, I’ll strengthen the connection from here.

Wei read the message carefully. It was vague but she understood it well.

Wei was standing at the edge of a sand dune, overlooking the vast dark desert with her enhanced vision.

There were very few sources of light, most of which came from activities far in the distance, and none from the shadow sky.

She took in a deep breath, breathing in and out and steadying her mind, allowing her consciousness to be open to what she actually wanted to come.

It was working.

That foreign feeling as though she was growing another power pool inside her was getting stronger and stronger.

Her eyes were starting to show flashes of gold and she could feel a knock on the back door of her consciousness.

Just then, the world seems to become darker, as if that were even possible.

The sands of the desert vibrated, steering from the rise of a monstrous entity.

Wei’s hair was blown back and she pressed her feet on the ground, resisting the sudden violent wind that was threatening to blast her away.

There was a nasty smell that reeked through the air after the wind blew.

It smelled like death and agony, literally.

Wei’s eyes were focused on the distance as they continued to flash gold.

Something was coming for her, it was sensing the arrival of a being that should not be in this world and it was coming for her.

///

Kael: Run!

////

That was the last message Wei saw before her body instinctively moved on its own.

She blasted off in the opposite direction, sand and tiny stones blasting into the air as her legs carved deep fissures into the desert ground.

She ran, blurring her body ever so incredibly. As she moved, she became wet with streams of water flowing mysteriously over her blue skin.

Soon, she pushed her legs in front of her, riding a large wave of water and increasing her running speed.

There was a loud bang and Wei looked back to see a mound of sand chasing after her from behind.

Her heartbeat spiked. She couldn’t see what was chasing her, all she saw was the moving sand indicating that something was rushing underneath the sand.

There was also that nasty clicking sound as well as the snarls that caused the water wave she was riding to vibrate.

The closer the entity came, the closer Wei felt to the very personification of dread. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

This thing that was chasing her was faster and much stronger than her, it was closing the distance between them very fast.

After all, this was the same entity that had shaved off the lives of all those lionesses. Those times, it had treated them like playthings, mere life forms to be toyed with till they were scared to death.

Now, it was actually serious as it casually crossed thousands of meters, weaving through the sand in pursuit of Wei.
