Chapter 749: Chapter 749: They Won’t Let Us Leave

"You know the founder of our clan?" Daniella asked, her face filled with an excited expression.

Kael raised his eyebrows, "He was the founder of your clan?

I’m talking about Uriel, the Celestial Lion who was with Jin the Purger," Kael said.

Uriel was not exactly a common name but in the span of millions of years, one never knew just how often the name could appear.

"Yes," Daniella nodded and turned to face her front. The light from the environment was reflected off the surface of her glasses.

"He is my Ancestor and the founder of our Uriel Lion Clan.

How did you know about him? I assumed no one would be able to recover any information from that time period outside the Original Heaven..."

Kael smirked, controlling his facial muscles to create the desired expression even though he wasn’t really feeling it inside.

"You’d be surprised," He added, "But I thought he was in the mortalverse, I never knew that he came to the Original Heaven." He said.

"He did, he didn’t stay long outside after Jin’s death.

He felt that the world was too corrupt and desired to seclude himself from everything.

Unfortunately, no one had told him that once you enter Original Heaven as a lion, your chances of getting out are close to none," Daniella said.

"Is he still alive?" Kael asked. It would be amazing to find someone from that era still alive.

Daniella shook her head with a sad expression, "No, unfortunately not.

He killed himself after seeing what Derylia had done to the lion civilization that Jin had built up. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

He couldn’t take it and ended his own life, lamenting that something like that wouldn’t have happened if he were there."

"Oh," Kael lowered his voice.

He could imagine how it felt. Uriel had probably been with Jin for a significant portion of his life. Although he was a Celestial Lion, he had contributed to the purging and ruthless cleansing of the weak ones, for the sake of the lion’s future.

He had helped transform many weak lions with potential into strong kings.

He had built the lion civilization with the Primordial Lion. One could only imagine how he felt watching Derylia tear down everything.

It was heart-shattering, especially for a Celestial Lion who was not as indifferent to these things as the others.

"But why?"

"Huh?" Daniella turned to look at Kael. The more she glanced at him, the more she had this urge to rub her fingers through his mane.

But she didn’t. Just standing beside Kael caused her to feel a faint pressure on her shoulders.

She was far stronger than Kael and was confident in being able to beat him in one strike, but it didn’t change the fact that some things were better left untouched.

Plus, Kael wasn’t exactly being open with her. She could sense that Kael was merely being polite and extracting information from her, even though it was being framed as a regular jovial conversation.

Every time she glanced at his face and caught a glimpse of his eyes, she could see the terrifying coldness hidden within those beautiful irises.

It didn’t surprise her, she was an inhabitant of Original Heaven. She ate and laughed with the most dangerous lions and lionesses daily.

Kael’s hidden nature did not shock her or make her feel fear. She simply acknowledged it and carried on with her own mental exercises.

"Why can’t you guys just leave?" Kael asked what was on his mind. He knew why but he wanted to hear it from their mouth by himself.

Although assuming Daniella was the highest authority here would be wrong, it should be assumed that she knew enough.

"I know that only Immortals can leave Original Heaven.

I also know that the lions have been trying to leave for some time now. But why haven’t you?

I have heard tales of how terrifying and troublesome you guys are in Original Heaven. But it seems they don’t fear you enough if they still dare to stand in our way."

Kael’s time dropped really low. So low that the marble floor vibrated just from his voice.

Daniella felt the tense atmosphere. The aura of a lion who was thinking of doing something drastic.

Daniella shook her head, "Who told you that? Was it the Primordial Dragon of Creation?"

"Kind of," Kael admitted.

"Well, he didn’t tell you that the Creation Dragons are also participating in keeping us here, did he?" Daniella asked.

"No, he did not," Kael said with his eyes narrowing.

Well, it wasn’t like Emperor Zain did not warn him about coming here. So, he could not really say that Emperor Zain tricked him. He was probably just protecting the image of his race.

"Well they are..." Daniella thought of something then decided to tell Kael.

"You see, when the Original Heaven was first discovered, someone had just claimed it as well as the Law of Origin and had ascended to true godhood.

This was even before the time of the monkeys, I don’t know if you know of the monkeys..."

"I know, carry on, please," Kael said. Daniella continued with what she was saying.

Over time, many creatures discovered that Original Heaven was not occupied by its owner, nor was there a dominant race here.

But this place was overflowing with Origin Essence.

Anyone who stayed here had a greater chance of achieving great power than in the real world.

At least, tier 7 equivalent creatures were ten times more likely to become Immortals here than anywhere else.

This place was the go-to place for power.

You would think that even if anything were to happen to prevent this place from being overpopulated, it would be to block the entrance.

But no, that’s not what happened.

The Highest Will stepped in one day and locked it from the inside. Only Immortals could leave, and even that was troublesome.

But it didn’t really matter. As long as they could leave to exercise their power in other places, they didn’t mind.

Many had assumed that the Highest Will didn’t know what it was doing.

How wrong they were.

The Highest Will always knows what it’s doing.

Always.

It came to pass that the immortals in Original Heaven started acting as their own wardens.

Not because they wanted to, but because they realised the danger of allowing immortals to leave and do whatever they wanted.

They would tear the universe apart, or worse, let those things beyond the universe come in.

The Highest Will must have known that its rules would be broken, it always happens.

The best rules are those that are enforced by those for whom they were created.

No one is trying to break into Original Heaven now, you’re all free.

But try to leave and you would see just how nasty it can be."

Daniella sighed at this point. She too had tried to leave Heaven at one point, she was tired of Original Heaven.

She wanted to go and help her civilization prosper.

Unfortunately, on that day, she was barraged from all sides by different factions.

Even with hundreds of powerful Immortals protecting her and giving her enough time to try and break through the barrier of heaven, she still failed.

It was so bad, in all her years of being an immortal, that day was the closest she had been to certain death.

"It’s not like there aren’t a few immortals that make it out once in a while. They do go out, under strict permissions and guidance as well as agreements.

It is we lions that are being bullied and forced to stay at all costs!"

Daniella squeezed her palm into a fist, crushing the space and time between her fingers into tiny reality dusts.

She kept a smile on her face, but her heart spoke otherwise. This celestial may not be so angelic after all.

"Are they that many?" Kael asked.

Daniella pressed her lips together, brought her hand up to push her glasses up her nose bridge, and nodded.

"Yes, there should be about ten million or more immortals in heaven at this moment.

All of them are divided into thousands of factions and races.

The lions are very strong though, as we have been here for a very long time and are also one of the most social creatures around.

The number of Immortals we have in Original Heaven should be close to fifteen thousand.

It’s a lot, yes, I know. But that’s if you put them in the outside world.

Not all of the races are trying to suppress us, but you can expect about one million Immortals to have beef with the lions on a good day.

At least, seventy percent of that fifteen thousand are low-level immortals.

Imagine fifteen thousand trying to fight against one million. It’s impossible.

We can’t even divide and conquer.

We can stand our ground, that we can do very well.

It’s just that in this place, losses are not easily forgettable.

During the time of Noel, our leader had rallied us to break out so that we could help him.

We didn’t succeed. We even lost five thousand or so Immortals in that standoff.

This was three million years ago, right before I was born. We have barely recovered after that.

They are all just afraid that once we get out, we are going to oppress everyone with the resources we will have access to.

They are not wrong. That is exactly what we are going to do if we get out. But still, it’s a pity that we will probably be trapped here for a while.

Who can blame them?"

Hearing Daniella, Kael had to resist the urge to open his mouth in shock.

Did she say ten million immortals?

Kael was even more shocked that the lions had managed to hold on for so long.

What manner of power and determination was needed to fight against such forces for so long?
