Little did Jin know that the old man he bumped into held the same thought as him.

"I'm really getting older." the old man helplessly shook his head. He fails to sense Jin's presence and ends up bumping into him.

What's more embarrassing is, unlike the young man, he failed to stabilize himself and fell onto the ground.

The old man felt ashamed to consider himself a spy.

"Then again, those graceful and fluid movements that young man displays, his swift reactions...It is not a feat that ordinary people can achieve without undergoing training."

Old man Dunn didn't dwell on his thoughts for long. His mind quickly shifted gears as he continued on his way back to the Klover Estate.

When he arrived at the entrance, he was greeted by the guards whom he was already familiar with.

"Welcome back, Dunn," one of the guards greeted him kindly. "Already done with your outing? Did you find anything interesting?"

Old man Dunn returned the guard's smile and shook his head in response. "There's nothing new in the city today. What about you? Same as always?"

"Aye, nothing much happening aside from me standing here," replied the guard.

But then, he recalled something, "Oh! Demin's butler had returned. I guess there's something different today."

Dunn's eyes lit up with curiosity, "Oh? Did he return alone?"

The old man naturally knows about the butler's departure. He wasn't sure for what purpose or where the butler went but he guessed it was probably related to the letter he sent not too long ago.

"Yeah, why'd you ask?"

Dunn waved off the question with a casual gesture, "Oh, nothing at all. It's just me being curious."

"I see," The guard didn't press further with questions.

Over time, the guards had grown accustomed to Dunn's frequent visits to the city and were familiar with his behaviour.

It wasn't a surprising response coming out of Dunn's mouth.

In the past, many who worked related to the security of the estate harboured a suspicion about Dunn.

The old man was on their watchlist because they thought he was a spy sent by someone to gather information about the Klover Estate.

After all, what need did a mere gardener have for his frequent trips to the city? Everything was already provided by the employer.

It seemed logical to assume that Dunn was transmitting valuable intelligence about the estate's activities to unknown parties.

Yet, those suspicions had been dispelled after a long observation.

Those who followed Dunn soon realized he was nothing more than an elderly man who enjoyed touring the city.

There's nothing suspicious about Dunn's activities outside or the location he went.

Dunn obviously knows about this. Rather than escaping their eyes, Dunn let them follow him until they were no longer suspicious of him.

Due to this reason, he couldn't send any letter back to the headquarters.

However, this much hard work is worthwhile.

He gets to befriend the guards at the gate and because they are already familiar with Dunn, he can easily make them spilt out valuable information.

"I'll get going now. Let's talk again next time," said Dunn to the guard.

"Alright," the guard replied.

....

That night, Dunn tossed around on his bed but couldn't get himself to sleep. Perhaps due to his curiousity, he kept thinking about the matter of Demin's butler.

Feeling a need to satiate his curiosity, Dunn slipped out of his bed and moved silently to the outside. He's being careful not to disturb the peaceful slumber of his fellow inhabitants. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

His destination— Demin's mansion.

He will just go and see the situation first.

If circumstances allow him to infiltrate into the mansion, the old spy will do it. If not, just forget about it.

As Dunn approached the location, a faint movement caught his attention. He immediately freezes in place and ceases all of his actions.

His senses immediately went on high alert. His eyes cautiously look around to discern the source of the disturbance.

Since it was dark, Dunn had trouble seeing clearly. He could only guess the general direction of the sound. However, that was enough. Once he pinpoints the location, it will be hard for the other party to escape his sight.

Moreover, the other party didn't even put an effort to fully conceal it. Maybe because there is no reason to do so.

Dunn squinted his eyes for a better look. He couldn't get any closer. There's a limit to it before the other party notices his presence.

Also, Dunn is not willing to jeopardize his advantage by revealing his presence prematurely.

Once his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he kind of recognised the person who caused the disturbance.

"That young man... Isn't he the one I bumped into in the city?" Dunn muttered to himself. "What was he doing here? Did someone send him to mess with Demin?"

Contrary to his initial assumption, the young man moves away from Demin's mansion.

Dunn continued to watch and follow from behind. He kept in mind to put a considerable amount of distance between them.

"T-this direction! Isn't this Johann Klover's mansion?!"

The pieces of the puzzle clicked into place in Dunn's mind. This young man was hired by Demin!

Demin's intention was definitely not a good one. The question is for what purpose and how far Demin's willing to go?

Anyway, whatever question Dunn had in mind, he would eventually get the answer.

From the shadows, Dunn continued to watch the young man approach the mansion.

The young man was circling the mansion a few times. It was clear that the young man was not merely wandering aimlessly. Rather, he appeared to be searching for a point of entry and figuring out the layout of the mansion.

Most likely nothing big will happen tonight. All Dunn sees is the young man doing reconnaissance work.

"This is getting interesting." Dunn smiles.

It may take a few days before anything happens but Dunn is patient enough to wait.
