Chapter 708: Chapter 708. Breaking Through the Windy Defense

"HAAA...!!!"

Zhang Daofeng pumped his energy into the yin-yang symbol below him. However, he couldn’t push the symbol down. There was as if an immovable object down there, and there was. In terms of raw power, he was indeed not Mu Qin’s match. No matter how much he exerted his power, he couldn’t push it down further.

"Hierophant, let me help you!"

He heard a voice from behind. A giant hand made of sand came past him and pressed into his yin-yang symbol. He turned and saw that the sand hand came from Huang Ti.

Zhu Yao had his palms on Huang Ti’s back. He was channeling his aether to power up Huang Ti’s sand hand. As he did, he called with a loud voice, "Echos soldiers! Answer your king’s call. Lend us your strength!!" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Upon his call, many Echos’ soldiers came over. The ones who arrived first pressed their hands on either Huang Ti or Zhu Yao’s body. Those who came later pressed their hands on those who came earlier. All of them channeled their energy, which flowed and converged on Huang Ti.

The old king felt the accumulated energy entering him. If not for his Lord Stage cultivation, such a massive accumulation of energy would have blown his body apart. He expertly recycled the energy into something he could use and injected it into the sand hand.

The sand hand shone brilliantly from the infusion of power. It pushed down with incredible force.

Mu Qin felt the power pressing down on her multiply. Her altitude slowly lowered. All the while, the attacks coming for her never stopped. Her wind shield easily blew away weak attacks, but stronger ones required her hair to parry or repel.

When Mu Qin exerted energy to fight back against the power pressing down on her, Hou Huang and Dim Loog sensed a slight decrease in the energy powering her hair. Seeing this as an opportunity, the two immediately propelled their energy to the max.

Dim Loog’s white spear was infused with bright light. He stabbed the spear of light forward. As for Hou Huang’s whip, she spun it in a spiraling roll. Hardened by her metallic element, the spiral whip turned into a drill that stabbed forward.

Mu Qin didn’t expect the sudden surge in her opponent’s penetrating power. She could have blocked them if she had spared more threads of her hair to block those two’s attacks. Sadly, a large portion of her hair was blocking and countering other attackers. Hence, the spear of light and the spiral whip broke through her hair defense. The tip of the spear of light stabbed into her right shoulder blade, while the spiral whip dug into the left side of her waist.

Blood spurted from the point of contact. Her defensive energy managed to cushion the piercing power, so they didn’t immediately impale her. The pain jolted her to quick action. A scream escaped her mouth, followed by a powerful shockwave.

Members of the Temple of Divinity who joined the fight were more shocked by her scream than by the explosive power she discharged. In all the time they had known the Holy Mother, never had they heard such a voice from her.

The scream she let out took form. The air around her erupted into a violent tempest. Countless tornadoes were scattered in all directions. These tornadoes were as if comprised of innumerable sharp blades. Those unlucky enough to get caught by these tornadoes were swiftly shredded into pieces.

Even Zhang Daofeng’s yin-yang symbol was blasted apart. The two chakrams that formed the symbol were flung far away from the impact. Zhang Daofeng himself was forced to switch to defense. He used the Xin Lai Palm to redirect the incoming tornado that was about to engulf him.

Huang Ti’s sand hand was similarly destroyed. All the soldiers who channeled their energy to power the sand hand received a backlash and vomited blood.

"Zhu Yao!" Huang Ti exclaimed. He saw several of Mu Qin’s tornadoes headed their way. He erected an earth wall to protect Zhu Yao. As for him, the Beta Puppet erected a giant energy shield and covered him.

Hou Huang and Dim Loog didn’t fare much better. They were close to Mu Qin. They executed their best defensive art to protect themselves, but they still suffered multiple cut wounds from Mu Qin’s tornadoes.

When all the raging winds finally quieted down, Mu Qin was visible again. Two punctured wounds leaked blood from her body. She was still inspecting her wounds when she sensed someone approaching.

She turned and saw Xan Chi right above her. The brutish man was filled with a reddish aura. His muscles, covered with red veins, bulged unnaturally. He swung his hammer down. Torrents of rocks followed that swing.

The defensive winds that constantly swirled around Mu Qin had vanished, but her hair that actively defended her remained. Xan Chi’s hammer clashed with her hair. Under normal conditions, her hair would have easily shoved the hammer away. But after the explosion of tornadoes she unleashed just now, her energy was at its lowest. The collision blew both Xan Chi and her hair away.

It was at this time that Amon and Sura Yao charged in. With Xan Chi breaking her last defense, she was momentarily without protection. Amon’s ceremonial dagger and Sura Yao’s scythe snaked in before her hair could regain strength.

Nevertheless, even by relying only on her raw defensive aura, she could still shake off many attacks from Spirit Stage cultivators. She wasn’t too worried about these two enemies breaking past her defenses, or so she thought at first. She was alarmed again when she saw the target of Amon’s attack.

Amon controlled his ceremonial dagger with perfect precision using the Xian Cloth. The dagger went straight for the wound in Mu Qin’s waist, the one caused by Hou Huang.

Mu Qin’s defensive instinct kicked in, and she forcefully focused her defensive aura on that spot. The energy she released prevented the black dagger from touching her wound.

When that happened, she felt a sudden stinging pain behind her. Sura Yao’s red scythe had pierced into her shoulder blade, where Dim Loog had wounded her.
