Chapter 480: The Old Man In White

Third Person’s POV

As they watched from a distance, the battlefield now resembled a scene straight out of ancient myth, as if legendary creatures had descended to wage war upon this land.

The huge fiery demon roared in response, its voice shaking the sky, and it opened its cavernous mouth to unleash a towering pillar of blazing flame toward the red thunder lion and the vampire Lady Raven beneath it.

In answer, the thunder lion let out a furious roar and raised its massive head.

In the next second, streaks of lightning from every direction gathered into its open jaws and condensed into a glittering, pulsing red sphere of condensed thunder.

Just as the pillar of flame was about to strike, the thunder lion fired the lightning orb forward.

It shot out like a divine cannon and tore through the air, smashing directly into the raging column of fire.

The resulting explosion was so immense and blinding that the world seemed to turn white for a moment, while an invisible ripple of destruction surged outward and tore across the entire square.

Buildings were reduced to rubble in an instant, and what remained of the black tower was completely vaporized into drifting ash.

Students and professors alike screamed in sheer terror as they felt the approaching wave of annihilation racing toward them.

This time, they were convinced that there would be no escape from the devastating storm that threatened to swallow them all.

But it was at that exact moment that a warm wave of white light suddenly spread across the entire battlefield and wrapped around every single person present, shielding them from the coming catastrophe.

Soon, everything outside that luminous veil was instantly annihilated, yet all those within it were spared, as if reality itself had bent to protect them.

The survivors looked around in stunned disbelief as their ears were still ringing and their vision blurred by the afterimages of lightning and fire as they desperately searched for the source of this miraculous intervention.

As the blinding glare began to fade, the scenery slowly became clear once more.

To their shock, the enormous red thunder lion was still there and was running through the sky itself as if it were solid ground, its massive paws leaving trails of crackling lightning behind.

It let out a series of thunderous roars, each one vibrating through the air like rolling storm clouds.

In the next second after it gathered sufficient momentum, the thunder lion transformed into a streak of crimson light and dove toward the ground at terrifying speed.

At the same time, the gigantic fire demon clenched its molten fist and hurled a devastating punch from below, with fiery meteors accompanying its fist from the magma domain below.

Just as the two titanic attacks were about to collide in what would have been a final, world-shattering clash, the ground beneath them suddenly began to tremble violently.

A towering white obelisk-like pillar suddenly erupted upward from the lava-covered ground, forcing molten rock and ash to explode outward in all directions.

With its emergence came a crushing wave of pale white pressure that spread across the battlefield, suppressing both the blood lightning domain of Lady Raven in the sky and the magma domain of Solomon on the ground in a single overwhelming sweep.

The two devastating attacks slammed directly into the massive thirty-meter-tall white obelisk, yet to everyone’s utter disbelief, it did not shatter.

Instead, it stopped them, and though deep cracks spread across its surface, and chunks of glowing white stone rained down like falling stars, the pillar remained standing in a firm and unyielding state.

A new shockwave of destruction rippled outward from the two points of impact and obliterated what little remained of the surrounding terrain.

Once again, the students and survivors were protected by the same mysterious white light, though everything outside it was reduced to dust, ash, and drifting fragments.

Half of the huge, sprawling black castle of the Abyssal Sanctum was now destroyed due to this battle, with a large portion of the forest outside also being burned to the ground.

Even now, the forest fire continued to spread unnaturally, carrying with it the intent of incineration from Elder Solomon’s Devil Flame and annihilation from Lady Raven’s blood lightning.

Ethan couldn’t help but reach out and touch the white barrier that surrounded him.

Beneath his fingers, it felt solid, like cold stone, yet at the same time it carried a strange living warmth.

He could tell at once that it was not ordinary earth based elemental energy.

Instead, it felt like some kind of hybrid attribute, something far rarer and more refined.

Staring at the towering white obelisk that had halted two world-shaking attacks, Ethan felt a chill run down his spine as he realized that a real player had arrived.

As if confirming his thought, a beam of pure white light descended from the sky next and struck the top of the obelisk.

The light slowly faded to reveal the figure of an elderly man standing calmly upon it.

He held a crooked, wrinkled staff made of pale white wood, and long white brows drooped down to his cheeks like ancient curtains.

His eye sockets were sunken deep into his skull, within which only two faint, turbid yellow eyes glimmered with unreadable depth.

His back was hunched with age, and two small white horns curved from his head, unmistakably marking him as a member of the demon race.

Seeing him standing there so calmly with not even a single wrinkle on his ancient face, twitching and not even the faintest ripple of emotion passing through his gaze, the two titanic combatants gradually halted their assault.

The raging heat in their eyes dimmed little by little, like dying embers, and both Solomon and Lady Raven slowly descended from the sky.

They finally lowered themselves to the level of the white-browed elder who still stood motionless atop the towering white obelisk.

Even now, he had not uttered a single word since his arrival, but the moment the two of them floated beside him, still wrapped in their battle states, something terrifying happened.
