Chapter 481: Impeachment

Third Person’s POV

Two sharp, luminous yellow gleams suddenly shot out from the old elder’s sunken eyes, but they were not mere beams of light.

Instead, they were pulses of overwhelming soul energy that soon showed their effect.

In an instant, a profound and tranquil pressure spread across the entire battlefield, and the suffocating fear, panic, and terror that had strangled everyone’s hearts began to melt away like ice under warm sunlight.

The trembling in their limbs eased, their frantic breathing slowed, and the chaotic storm of emotions inside their minds settled into stillness.

Even the wild excitement that had arisen inside them from witnessing such a rare, apocalyptic battle between two supreme experts was swept clean, leaving behind only clarity and calm.

It was as if an invisible hand had brushed across everyone’s souls and smoothed out their turmoil in a single stroke.

And they couldn’t help but feel that someone had given them a thick, fluffy quilt in freezing winter.

As this warm, calming effect washed over the crowd, Ethan’s heart went cold, and a chill ran down his spine as he realized just how monstrously powerful this old man’s soul was.

This was not brute strength derived from a strong body or mana pressure emanating from powerful magic, but rather complete dominion over minds. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Looking at the decrepit figure before him, Ethan could already imagine that if his own devil bloodline reached its peak and he fully mastered its abilities, he too might one day be able to manipulate emotions, thoughts, and even wills of entire crowds like puppets on invisible strings.

He might become even more powerful than this old man.

While everyone calmed down, they finally noticed that the crushing white aura that the obelisk had released earlier had already dispersed Solomon’s magma domain completely.

The spreading inferno and rivers of lava had vanished, leaving behind nothing but cracked, scorched earth and blackened residues that smoldered faintly.

It also revealed that the extent of damage this battle had caused, such as the fact that the lush green forests about a kilometer in radius around the Sanctum Castle had been reduced to nothing but a black, smoky wasteland.

As they observed the destruction, the crimson glow around them slowly faded, making them look up where they noticed that the ominous crimson clouds that had shrouded the Sanctum like a blood stained omen had also begun to break apart.

Still, the sky did not brighten, and a blanket of dull gray clouds still lingered overhead, casting a somber, heavy atmosphere over the ruined castle.

It was then that the old man finally spoke.

His voice was hoarse, yet it carried an undeniable authority that resonated through the air like a verdict from heaven itself.

"How could you two do this, Elder Solomon and Lady Raven?"

His tone was neither furious nor loud, yet it cut deeper than any thunder.

"How could you unleash your full power in such a sacred space and defile its sanctity?

You have not only destroyed ancient structures of this academy but also endangered countless lives, including students, deacons, and professors alike.

Half of this ancient Sanctum has been reduced to nothing because of the reckless actions you two committed."

He paused for a brief moment as his faint yellow eyes swept over the devastated surroundings.

"Considering your crimes, I, Garuman, Vice Headmaster of this academy, hereby order your suspension from the Abyssal Sanctum and its sacred grounds for five full years."

A murmur of shock rippled through the crowd, but ignoring that, Garuman continued, his voice unwavering.

"Furthermore, Elder Solomon, if you wish to return to the Sanctum after these five years, you will no longer be Enforcement Elder.

Instead, you will be reduced to the position of a mere deacon and will also lose the right to compete for the top authority of the Enforcement Hall of this Sanctum that you have defiled with your actions."

His gaze then shifted to Lady Raven.

"And you, Lady Raven, will be demoted to the role of an assistant professor upon your return."

As his voice faded, silence fell like a hammer as everyone present was stunned to their core, and even the most naive student understood what this meant.

For beings of their stature, such a punishment was tantamount to exile, and no one could imagine why experts of their level, individuals who commanded fear and respect across the continent, would ever accept such humiliating demotions when they could clearly get better positions, more resources, and the respect they deserved somewhere else.

Yet Solomon and Lady Raven showed no outrage, no protest, and no defiance at this command.

They merely exchanged a brief, unreadable glance and then, in perfect unison, they lowered their heads slightly and spoke with restrained respect.

"As you command, Vice Headmaster."

Their voices were calm and almost resigned as both of them knew that even without being told, they could not challenge Garuman.

His personal strength was overwhelming, and behind him stood the full authority of the Abyssal Sanctum, including the terrifying and mysterious Headmistress herself.

Not to forget the fact that this time, they were undeniably in the wrong.

They had turned a sacred academy into a battlefield, shattered half of an ancient castle, and nearly killed numerous young students, and considering all this, even they could not escape the consequences of such reckless destruction.

But just as Ethan inwardly breathed a sigh of relief, believing that the chaos of the battle would allow him to fade into the background, something icy pricked his instincts.

Solomon suddenly turned his massive head toward him.

His copper-skinned face twisted, and with a sudden, violent motion, he pointed directly at Ethan while a thunderous roar tore out of his throat and reverberated across the ruined square.

"But what about that brat, Lord Garuman?!"

His voice boomed like an erupting volcano, carrying both fury and accusation.

"He is the root of all this chaos!

As the Enforcement Elder, I would never have unleashed such destruction had my rightful attempt to punish him for his crimes not been obstructed by this Lady Raven here!"
