Chapter 494: Radiant Dawn Lights Up The Abyss (3)

Third Person’s POV

Though many sensed that the originator of this power was not directly targeting them, their terror and instinctive reverence for such an unfathomably powerful existence surged to unprecedented heights.

Meanwhile, at the heart of the confrontation, the dark figure’s coal black eyes flickered subtly for a brief second.

Then a rough, hoarse voice rang out from the black cloth covering his face, sounding like a chorus of multiple voices layered atop one another, with each whispering through the same throat. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Don’t even think about it, Miss Little Duchess... or I will instantly snuff out the life of our little friend here..."

The voice carried a strange, corrupting resonance, and if an ordinary person had heard it, merely hearing it would have been enough to shatter the mind, yet neither of the two women flinched.

Still, their expressions shifted instantly and started to darken with restrained anger and calculation.

The massive, screaming red lance continued to shriek as it hovered in the air and refused to dissolve despite the threat that demanded its dismissal.

However, it halted in place and froze while being just short of unleashing its destructive force.

At the same time, Altheria’s expression twisted slightly, and a trace of ugliness surfaced on her features, yet beneath that outward reaction, which was actually fake, her mind remained eerily calm.

Silently, she sent a message to the white dragoness, Isha, who had yet to reveal her true form and currently existed only as a radiant white shadow beside her.

’Do your thing, Isha, or we could lose Ethan at any moment, as, judging by this cowardly old dog’s attitude, I can tell he is prepared to fight tooth and nail to achieve his goal this time.’

Seeing how the fearsome little duchess appeared to hesitate under his threat, the dark figure relaxed marginally.

His posture eased, but was just enough to betray a hint of satisfaction.

He finally turned his attention toward the shimmering white figure beside the little duchess, who radiated an equally terrifying aura, yet even then, not for a single second did he halt his actions.

Deep within Ethan’s mind space and body, his Void Breaching Dark Tentacles continued their relentless search, probing and invading without pause as he hunted for the legendary Overlord Origin of Darkness.

To his growing surprise, what he had initially considered to be a simple task was becoming increasingly complex.

Even after a considerable amount of time had passed, he still had not been able to locate what he was searching for.

His Void-Breaching Dark Tentacles continued to probe and scour Ethan’s body and mind space, yet they found nothing that matched his expectations.

To be honest, this difficulty was not entirely unexpected as Overlord Origins existed only within myths and long forgotten legends.

They were spoken of in fragmented records and half-erased scriptures, and he did not know what such an Origin truly looked like, nor did he know where it resided within a person’s body, or even if it possessed a fixed form at all.

It could exist as energy, as consciousness, or as something far stranger, and that uncertainty gnawed at him, and yet, despite all of that, he had still chosen to act.

He had rushed from his capital city to the very centre of the Continent that housed the Abyssal Sanctum in an absurdly short amount of time.

Using every method available to him as a Heaven Connection Realm expert, he had bypassed the Dark Abyss and avoided countless layers of detection that might have revealed him.

He had infiltrated Ethan’s prison chamber in secrecy, his sole intent being to achieve his objective swiftly and without interruption, but now, what he had feared from the beginning was becoming reality.

The interruptions had arrived, and they were far more dangerous and far greater in magnitude than he had ever anticipated.

He had never expected that this insignificant boy would be protected by the Duchess of the Vampires herself, who also happened to be the headmistress of the Sanctum.

Initially, he had only aimed to stay out of her detection, but who knew he would have to face her directly.

And as if that were not enough, there was also this second presence, a mysterious expert whose identity he could not discern, yet whose aura alone unsettled him deeply.

From the faint outline of her figure, he could tell that she was a woman.

Outwardly, his gaze remained calm and seemingly relaxed as he looked toward her, but inwardly, anxiety was beginning to coil tightly within him as he felt that something about her was profoundly dangerous.

His instincts screamed warnings, and his inner dark realm recoiled instinctively from the divine aura of light she emanated.

In a mere few moments, he realised that it was a fundamental aversion, one born from the clash of opposing existences.

So, he remained extremely cautious toward both of them, but it was at that precise moment that Altheria’s eyes suddenly widened, and a bloody crack appeared on her forehead.

The instant it formed, his attention snapped fully toward her.

The crack had opened only slightly, yet from within it burst a multitude of glaring crimson rays.

The bloody light flooded outward violently and blinded not only his vision but also his soul sense, drowning everything in an overwhelming bloody radiance soaked with killing intent.

The effect of it was immediate as a powerful wave of nausea surged through his body and mind, twisting his insides violently.

At the same time, his dark energy went berserk and slipped beyond his control as the blood within his body seemed to revolt against him.

Thick, blackish-red blood streamed from his nostrils, and the blood vessels around his eyes ruptured with sickening force, making his already ghastly face appear even more horrifying.

But the damage did not stop there as almost all the nerves and blood vessels throughout his entire body began to burst in unison, one after another, spraying blood as agony tore through him.
