Sacred Flame: His Enemy, His Mate (BL)-Chapter 38: When are you coming home?
Kain Locke
"What are you doing!" I yelped, jerking up immediately to grab a towel from the wardrobe, but no, the universe was also against me so of course it wasn’t there, and now I’m remembering I kind of spread it on the bathroom hanger to dry.
Kael’s eyes dragged over me, slow and deliberate, and a smirk curled at the corner of his lips.
"Well, this is a nice surprise," he drawled, locking his eyes on me, "Didn’t think I’d be getting such a good view this early in the morning. What should I say... I wasn’t expecting something like this sincerely." He kicked the door shut behind him with the back of his leg.
"Didn’t you know how to knock!" I snapped, trying to angle my body away while reaching for the bedsheet. "Get out!"
However, Kael didn’t move. If anything, his smirk deepened as he looked down, his gaze fixated on my lower body, "Now, why would I do that? You’re the one who left the door unlocked, sweetheart."
I finally yanked the sheet off the bed, wrapping it around myself in record time. "You! I wasn’t! Just get out!"
"Relax, and why act all as if this is any big deal, besides it’s not anything I’ve not seen before."
I swore my soul left my body. "I will fucking kill you."
"Really?" he hummed, "I’m looking forward to it."
I pointed to the door. "Out. Now," My face burned so hot as my fist clenched by my side, "pervert!" I could’ve screamed the whole damn house down.
"Save your voice, sweetheart. No need to strain that pretty throat over me. And we definitely can’t risk this place crashing down. Can we?"
I huffed in response, ignoring him as I matched to the door, swung it open, ready to throw him out even if that would be almost impossible, however i was too blinded by my annoyance to reason that, but before I could, he tossed something straight at me and I moved quickly out of reflexes, catching it before it hits the ground.
I had done it before realizing what I had just done, I frowned, glancing down at the tablet in my hand. "What’s this for?"
"He wants to talk to you, why do you think I was here anyway?"
It was only then that I turned the screen to see Brian’s face on it, he was on mute all along, and it seemed like he was saying something.
I glanced at the screen, then at Kael’s face, "Go away." I whispered.
He raised his hands in surrender, laughing as he turned away. But before stepping out, he glanced over his shoulder, flashing me a lazy smile.
"And, I gotta say you look so darn cute down there, and to be clear, the head is a shade of pink." He whispered the last part and I swore my soul left my body with what I couldn’t tell whether it was the rage or from embarrassment, but I just want him out!
The door clicked shut before I could throw something at his head.
I cleared my throat and waved a little at the screen before putting him off mute,
Brian’s little face scrunch up on the screen, "Mama, why aren’t you wearing clothes?" His question jolted me back to the realization that I only have that thin piece covering my lower body.
I nearly choked on air. "Just had a bath, baby," I said quickly, gripping the sheet tighter around me. "Can you hold on for a minute? I’m going to put something on."
He gave me a slow, suspicious nod, like he wasn’t sure if I was telling the truth.
Setting the tablet down, I scrambled to my bag, yanking out the first shirt I could find, a plain white tank top. I pulled it on in record time before picking up the tablet again. "Okay, I’m back, baby," I said, settling onto the bed, which bounced a little under my weight.
Brian’s big eyes blinked at me through the screen. "Is uncle Kael gone?"
My fingers twitched. "What do you mean?"
His little lips pursed. "I saw him leave through my iPad screen." he pouted.
Of course, he did.
I forced a smile. "He just came to give me the tablet."
"Is he coming back?"
"Not exactly" I sighed, running a hand through my damp hair. "Are you good? Hope it’s not bad over there?"
Brian nodded, "I ate plenty of fishes and meats and chocolates, I even kept some chocolate under my pillow till mama came back."
"You’re the best, baby."
"Yeah," he said, puffing out his tiny chest. "I am. And if anyone ever bullies mama I’ll beat them up."
A laugh bubbled up in my chest despite everything. "Of course, my baby is the strongest."
"Mm." He hummed, but then his eyes dimmed. "Mama, I miss you and Uncle Felix. When are you coming here so we can go back to him?"
My heart swelled with guilt. I missed him terribly too in a way that seeing him on this screen is not enough. I trailed my fingers on the screen, "Soon, baby." I paused, ensuring that he was following me, "Mama’s just taking care of some things here. But I’ll be home before you know it." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
He nodded, seeming to accept my answer. "Okay, Mama."
A knock came at the door followed by a woman’s voice, "Are you in there Brian?"
"Who is that?" I questioned him.
"Lyra. My caretaker." He said to me then glanced back and answered, "I did not lock the door. Come in."
His door clicked and opened. I couldn’t see it because his face was occupying 90 percent of the screen, so I couldn’t see anything else but his broad face.
"Playtime is over, your lesson teacher is here little one," the woman said and Brian answered her,
"Give me one more minute, okay? I will come outside now."
"Don’t be late." She remembered and the door closed after her.
Brian shifted his attention back to me, "Talk to you later my teacher is here, I love you." He said and I chuckled, feeling a warmth in my heart.
"I love you too baby," I whispered, blowing a virtual kiss. "Take care." I whispered as I ended the call. I glanced around the room, ensuring I was alone, before letting out a deep sigh.
Now that I was alone, I climbed off the bed, I slowly pulled off my tank top, just as I put on a sky blue sweatshirt that stopped above my knee,
I was preparing to wear my trousers when a voice came from the speaker I had no idea was attached to the left hand side of the room,
[Announcement! Announcement! Every member of the base should show up outside within two minutes.] It says on repeat.
I quickly threw on some pants, and then rushed out of the room, making sure to lock the door behind me and throw the key into my pants pocket. Yeah, I don’t want someone I can’t drag out claiming the bed like he did the last time.
I stepped outside the base to see a crowd of people, not as large as the one from the other day. But what caught my attention was the purple hair, he was standing silently among them. People were avoiding him like the plague and to think I hadn’t seen him since the pheromone attack.
It was as if he noticed me staring at his gaze turned to my direction, his eyes locking unto mine.
