Chapter 42: A good sin

Kain Locke

I was hard,

"Shit."

I practically stumbled out of bed, nearly shoving him off in my scramble to get away. My legs felt weak, my skin burning, but I forced myself to move straight to the bathroom.

The door slammed shut behind me.

I gripped the sink with both hands, leaning into it as I sucked in a shaky breath. My chest was tight. My pulse was out of control. I turned the faucet on, splashing cold water onto my face, but it did nothing.

The heat was still there. The feeling of him, his touch, his breath, his body pressed against mine was still there.

I closed my eyes, trying to steady myself, but the moment I did, it all came rushing back.

And worst of all? My body refused to forget as I felt bubbling heat in the pit of my stomach.

Why the hell did I react like that? Just why the hell!?

My fingers tightened around the sink. My reflection staring back at me, flushed cheeks, wide eyes like I didn’t even recognize myself. My body was still on edge, all feelings of his touch refusing to fade even though it was just for that brief moment, but dammit! It felt like eternity!

He’s my enemy. My enemy for goodness sake. So why the hell did it feel like that? Why did my body respond to his touch and this...

My eyes went down to the visible dent in my trousers.

Fuck!

I let out a slow, shaky breath, but it didn’t help. Nothing did.

And now, I have a new problem. Or problems...

Firstly, I have a visible bulge,

Secondly, I’m growing hot and hotter,

If I tried to take care of the first problem right here, he’ll definitely catch a whiff of it, unless I spend the night in this tub which would be the most horrible idea.

And if I go in there with how unstable I am right now, I could explode. After all, the disadvantages of being an Omega is that, not only are Omega sensitive to touch, their heat could also be induced by an Alpha!

Exactly the reason the previous base consisted of only Omega until five years ago when betas were brought into the picture, and of course they pose no threat, because they’re not different from a human, they have no scent, just as they can’t smell one.

And Kael? Who happens to be the only Alpha in this base that I knew about... well the other crystal gun Alpha didn’t count right?

Kael was simply too bored and arrogant to an extent of spreading his pheromones everywhere, but why exactly is he making matters worse for only me?

Not only could I go into heat any moment from now, my suppressant was also out there right beside the bed he was on.

I needed it, but walking out and grabbing it with him sitting there? That would be so embarrassing,

If only there was another Omega here that would be willing to help me. If only Bella was healthy enough to help, I would’ve gone to her and used her suppressant instead.

But there wasn’t. And I was on my own...

Wait a minute... an Omega who can help?? Of course, there’s Audrey! I just have to get to him and borrow his suppressant.

I didn’t waste a second as I opened the bathroom door I made for the door leading to the hallway without a glance at the bed where I was sure he was.

The moment I stepped out, I bolted down the hallway, my feet hitting the floor faster than my thoughts could catch up.

This time, I didn’t care about keeping my head down as I grabbed the nearest person I could find. "Audrey, the pink haired Omega room. What number is it?" My voice came out breathlessly.

She blinked at me, surprised, but answered anyway, perhaps due to being cut off guard or how disorganized and restless I appeared.

"A14. Just down the hall." She stammered as she pointed to the next corner.

Notwithstanding, I barely waited to mutter a thank you before I was moving again, weaving through the corridors, not stopping, not thinking as I scanned the number on each door, but why was the number not organized accordingly!

And at long last, A14 was right there on top of the third to the last room across the hallway.

I did no such thing as hesitating before going to knock on the door and it actually took a while before the door opened and what first caught my attention was his pink hair, then his faint red rimmed eyes. Like he was crying but trying to hide it, I could see by just how hard he wiped the eyes to the point where it was all red.

"It’s you .." he said, holding out the door as he strained his head, glancing up and down, "No one said you’re coming." He muttered,

Definitely yes because I invited myself, but instead of saying that, "Are you okay?" I asked, staring at him and for a moment, his shoulder went stiff before softening and he flashed a faint smile.

"What? Do I look not so okay?" He joked,

"You just..." I trailed off, remembering myself that sometimes, prying what someone was obviously trying to hide was even more uncomfortable than the very unpleasant situation they’re in, and how do I know this? It’s because I’ve been there before so I said instead, "Your eyes are a little swollen... and the lids are red."

He nodded, flashing another strained smile, "Yeah.. spray got into it." He responded quickly, "I was washing it in the restroom while you’re knocking. Didn’t have any idea it was you though." He murmured the last part then sighed, looking up at me again, "What brought you here anyway?"

That right, I was here for a reason. I flushed a little as my fingers interlocked on an instinct, "Umm... can I borrow your... umm." I pursed my lips staring at him,

"My what?" He raised his eyebrows at me, letting go of the door as he stepped outside, shutting it just in time before I could look inside, I wasn’t even planning to.

"Umm.. yeah.. can I borrow your suppressant?" I finally said feeling like the ground should open and swallow me.

Audrey blinked at me, his lips parting slightly as if he hadn’t heard me right.

"My suppressant?" he repeated, his voice softer now, his gaze flickering over me. Then his nose wrinkled slightly, like he caught onto something.

I looked away, my fingers tightening into fists. The last thing I wanted was for someone to know I was getting into heat.

"...You’re close, aren’t you?" Audrey’s voice was quieter now, less teasing, and more understanding.

I swallowed hard. "Just...just let me borrow it, please." I added.

He didn’t answer right away. His pink hair fell over his eyes as he stared at me, like he was trying to figure something out.

Then, without a word, he opened the door and quickly shut it behind him, only to come out sooner after and pulled out a small silver vial. My eyes locked onto it instantly,

He held it out to me, but before I could snatch it, he pulled it back slightly. "This won’t last you long."

I exhaled sharply. "I know. Just give it to me." I still have just enough in my room, it’s just the uninvited trouble stopping me from using it!

He hesitated again before finally pressing it into my hand and let out a small sigh, rubbing the back of his neck. "You really should’ve told me earlier. And here I thought you’re here for something serious. But damn," he let out a breathy laugh, shaking his head. "He has been a menace since the first day I got here, but this is a new record."

"What record?" I asked, not understanding what he was saying. "He?" Who’s he?

"Nothing. Just that..." he laughed finally, then he leaned closer and whispered, "You’ve got his smell on you, you know?"

Dammit!

Heat crept up my neck. I turned away before he could see my face.

Now I understand why he was glancing up and down earlier. He must’ve thought I came with him. After suppressing it, I looked back at him,

Rolling my eyes, as I stuffed the suppressant into my pocket. "Thanks for the help. I’ll get going now... be good."

Before he could say anything else, I turned around and hurriedly made my way down the hallway.

But even as I moved, I could still hear Audrey mutter under his breath.

"...He’s definitely going to ruin him."

I got back to my room door.

When I pushed the door open and stepped inside. The ceiling light has been flicked off, Maybe it was instinct, but my eyes went straight to the bed

However, the sight that greeted me was not what I expected.

Kael was lying there, sprawled across my bed but that wasn’t the worst part.

His shirt was gone.

And the dim light from the bedside lamp cast a warm glow over his bare skin, highlighting every sculpted muscle, every sharp line of his toned chest and abdomen. His body looked like it was carved from something unfairly perfect, the kind that made you do a double take before realizing just how wrong it was to look.

His arms were lazily resting behind his head, making his biceps flex just enough to be noticeable. His abs? Defined in a way that made it impossible not to see the strength beneath his skin.

And his collarbones were sharp, and prominent, leading down to the smooth expanse of his chest, where a thin layer of sweat glistened under the light, looking like a good sin.

I swallowed hard.

I should not be looking.

I should tell him to put on a damn shirt. To get the hell off my bed.

But my mouth refused to work, and instead, all I could do was stand there like an idiot, my grip tightening around the suppressant in my pocket.
