Signing-In: The Lazy Moon Goddess-Chapter 759: The Monk
Welcomed by the surprise that his uncle had ascended, Ru Yunlan was amazed and a bit disappointed. After all, he wasn’t here to witness how his Uncle Xiao had ascended. If only he witnessed it, he would know what he needs to do when it is his turn. His father-in-law, Han Yoonjun, had also welcomed him back.
Han Yoonjun said, "Son, you are back. Unfortunately, Haerin-ah still hasn’t finished her own transformation. Are you back for our ascension as well?"
They were surprised that Ru Yunlan is back. After all, he promised the Moon Goddess to do his True God Ascension in her presence. The reason for this is simple. Ascension of Gods who will inherit a Primordial God’s seat was never an easy one. It is the kind that had effect in their whole cosmos as Primordial Gods are the highest god rank in existence. Their ascension even only at the realm of the True God can affect all the daos in existence.
Yue Xuexia asked Ru Yunlan to return because she plans to isolate his ascension so no other Gods aside from Primordial Gods would realize that a new born Primordial God is born. This is also what her system had advised her to do if she truly wanted to protect Ru Yunlan.
Ru Yunlan upon hearing Han Yoonjun’s words responded, "Yes, father-in-law. I am about to ascend and return like Godmother had told me to do so."
The monk, Xu Jin, who was acting like a passerby was listening to the conversation between the reaper and people who seemed to be his family. He didn’t expect that the reaper would have a true god as an uncle and a father-in-law that is also a demigod. He seems to be an apostle of two gods as well which are wind and light.
Moreover, in this place he can feel a powerful accumulation of divine energy making it a bit hard for him to breathe. It was only when he wheezed as if he was out of breath that the others noticed him.
The Wind Sword God Xiao Muen said, "Boy, why did you bring a monk here? Don’t you know how to concentrate the divine energy in this place?!"
He poured a bit of his divine energy to protect the monk. Ru Yunlan can also do it as he is at Huashen Realm already. But Xu Jin is only in the Yuanying realm which makes it a bit hard to breathe in a place with concentrated divine energy like this place. It was only with Xiao Muen’s timely help that Monk Xu Jin didn’t get suffocated in this place.
Ru Yunlan said, "Sorry Uncle Xiao. He needs to sign a contract with me after ascension so I brought him back with me."
"What is happening?" Han Yoonjun asked.
With this Ru Yunlan had no other choice but to tell his elders what is the problem with the monk and they understood the monk choice and why Ru Yunlan brought him here. His godmother didn’t allow him to break through outside without her witnessing it. It seems that Ru Yunlan’s ascension would not only be harder but something that will cause commotion which Yue Xuexia wanted to avoid.
Han Yoonjun said, "If that is the case then he must come indeed. Alright, enough talking. It should be time to eat. Let go and meet your mothers for now."
So they invited the monk to have meals with them. During the meal. Xu Jin was served with dishes without meat yet he noticed that it was all made with immortal herbs and mutated vegetables which is considered not only expensive but also precious from the world he came from. He thought that they were being extravagant but upon seeing that most on the table were divinities, he understood that this is a meal for the gods and goddesses.
The person who caught his eyes the most was the Moon Goddess as expected. Her graceful gestures, her elegant demeanor and even her divine presence adding her ethereal beauty made the monk wonder why a goddess of this caliber exists in the mortal realm. People like this can only be found in the central region, or the core haven of the Immortal World. He, as someone who lives at the outskirts of the Immortal World and lives at the bottom rank of existence, never dreams of meeting someone like this. To avoid being rude, after a few seconds of peeking he immediately lowered his head and stared at his food.
Everyone in this group had already heard the life story of the monk. They felt pity towards him but that is all. They will choose not to get involved as something is meant to happen. This is another person’s fate and has nothing to do with them.
The Moon Goddess upon seeing the guest not eating asked, "Is the food not to your liking little friend? Do you want me to make something different for you?"
The Monk Xu Jun panics. He never expected the goddess with noble bearing to speak to him all of the sudden.
"N-No... Please forgive my rudeness. This little one is just thinking if I am worthy of such precious things! It’s not that I cannot eat but... I don’t feel worthy of it." Monk Xu Jin said.
The Moon Goddess said, "All beings are equal before the food. It is something you must eat if you wish and not if you don’t. You should eat, little one. After all, you have done well in life. Continue living as you wish to. Lifespan is something that is endless but limited."
Upon hearing the kind words of the Goddess of the Moon, the monk suddenly recalled the days when he was the happiest. When he was with his family before he became a monk. When he delightfully helps people which come from his heart and when he eats food with the people he sees as comrades and friends. It was only now that he remembers that his life wasn’t full of tragedies. There is also hope, dream and goals. It’s just that he had lost his way when he lost his precious people and thankfully, he didn’t become a fallen or he would lose even his dream to become a strong person enough to protect those he wants to protect. As if he was enlightened, the monk fell in dazed for a while and stared at the hot food in front of him.
With trembling hands, Monk Xu Jin slowly ate his food. Though his tears strolls down uncontrollably on his face, he continues to eat happily.
"It’s delicious. Thank you." Monk Xu Jin said.
—
After the meal, Monk Xu Jin asked for a place where he can meditate. Xiao Muen had allowed him to meditate in his sanctuary. At least, there he had blocked most divine energy so the monk will not get overwhelmed by it.
Ru Yunlan said, "This monk is a bit pitiful. But in the world of cultivation his case is just normal."
"It is a good thing that despite losing everything he didn’t become a fallen and turned into a demon," said Ru Lanyu.
Xiao Muen said, "Maybe because his loved ones were killed by the demons that he did despite becoming one."
"To bear the pain, guilt and yearning all these years, he had done well. He should be fine now," said Han Yoonjun.
Yue Xuexia said, "Don’t worry about him. He is destined to become a holy being as long as he doesn’t fall. Xiao Lan, you should get ready for your tribulation. Before that I need to talk to the one inside of you."
Everyone turned silent when Yue Xuexia said those words. Even though they knew that there is a divine being inside Ru Yunlan guiding him and protecting him, this is actually the first time they are meeting the Primordial God of Death.
Yue Xuexia warned the rest and said, "It would be better if you avoided looking at this being’s eyes directly. Within the hierarchy of gods, Primordials are the most ancient and the most powerful as the dao they hold is represented by themselves and they are the dao itself."
Ru Yunlan looked around and saw his family getting ready to meet the death god inside his body.
"Then I will call the Master out. Master, please meet my family."
As soon as Ru Yunlan said this, a black orb made up of powerful divinity appeared before them. The appearance of the orb was enough to make them want to kneel except Yue Xuexia who frowned as she couldn’t feel anything. Ru Lanyu, Han Yoonjun and Xiao Muen noticed the pressure that fell on them. This wasn’t intentional from the Death God, his presence is like seeing heaven itself and the gap in strength is not just one or two levels but more.
"Heavy?!" The thoughts of Xiao Muen, Ru Lanyu and Han Yoonjun at the moment.
The system noticed the confusion of his host and said, {Xue’er, you are different from them. You are a Heir of two Primordial Gods and your soul cultivation is at least first halo tribulation. This presence wouldn’t affect you at all unless he intentionally put pressure on you. You can spread your aura to protect your friends.}
With a thought, Yue Xuexia had spread her domain and protected everyone within the forest area and even isolated the overbearing presence of the Primordial God of Death which everyone in the ruins had felt the moment he chose to materialize himself before the Moon Goddess.
