Chapter 25: BITTER BLOOD

VINCENZO’S POV

She tensed up as soon as my lips met hers and I hoped she would do what I had in mind.

As expected, a second later, she started trashing about but I gripped her arms roughly and pinned it above her, biting down hard on her lips and making her whimper.

A low chuckle behind me made me finally pull back to see her panting heavily, tears in her eyes.

She didn’t even bother to see who it was, she scrambled up the stairs, leaving us there.

Good.

It worked.

"I didn’t know you were busy" My father’s very much familiar voice rang out and I turned around, a mask of indifference on my face again.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, purposefully swiping at my lower lip with my thumb as I walked over to him.

He gestured to the living room and sat down on a couch. "Aren’t I allowed to visit my son again especially after his unceremonious exit weeks ago?"

"Did you have to bring him along?" I nodded towards my cousin Ravolo.

A rather handsome man in his early 20s, his body a bit too lean for someone who was as dangerous as he was.

"Is there a problem with me being here? Or is this about the thing you’re fucking" He smirked as he sat beside my father.

My eyes hardened at his use of words but I refused to show it.

"Now, Ravolo. He’s allowed to have his fun with her, after all, she deserves it, doesn’t she?" My father chuckled softly, his gaze returning to mine.

"Then why don’t you just leave so I can get back to business?" I replied, a brow raised.

I didn’t regret kissing her in front of them, it was either that or manhandling her, it was an easy option. Anything to make my father believe that I was not just casually keeping her in the house for no reason.

"We will leave. I just came to check on the business myself" My father gestured around the house.

"And what is it about the business that you had to come to check up on today? I have everything under control" I hissed under my breath, leaning forward.

Master LaRosa was silent for a brief second, an expressionless look on his face for a short while before he smirked. "I’ve been getting reports and I’m not sure I like them" He muttered.

My gaze darted briefly to Ravolo who had crossed his legs, surveying the interior of the house. The fucker should be happy he was here with my father or I would have kicked him out immediately.

"What reports are those and have you been spying on me?" I returned my gaze to my father and I sighed.

"I wouldn’t put it that way, Vincenzo, I’m simply putting an eye on my business. That’s more important and so far I don’t like the sound of it"

My jaw tightened and I felt a tick in it. Of course, the business meant more to this man than his own child.

I leaned back against the chair. "Please enlighten me"

"The Cavalieri..." He said, watching for my reaction.

That one word was enough to make me frown slightly. "What’s wrong with my bikers?"

"As far as I’m concerned, they’re your most trusted and so far the most dangerous troop in the family. They’ve been going out lately and I don’t know where" He paused, waiting for me to say something.

"I believe that I don’t have to tell you everything that I do, is that correct?"

"I need to know what the Cavalieri are doing outside my own business because I checked and it has nothing to do with the business of this family" His tone turned a tad lower.

"It’s not the family’s business and it certainly isn’t yours. We’ve been having a hitch with shipments so I entrusted them with it" I lied easily, my face as cold as ever.

"Does that have anything to do with two of your men leaving today? Deserters perhaps?" There was no hint of a smile on his face as he spoke.

The Garots who had opted to leave after their loved ones were killed. "What?"

"Oh, I found out that two of your men left today. Don’t worry, if they deserted, I have it all under control"

No.

"And how?" I asked, struggling to keep my anger in check.

"I think we both know what happens to deserters in the ranks" A frown appeared on his face.

Ravolo who had been silently staring at the stairs, stood up suddenly. "I’m gonna have a look around. Get a feel of the place, hm?"

"Sit" I ordered him.

He scoffed. "Chill out, I’m going to use the bathroom and go up to the roof for a smoke where I can be alone"

I ignored him after that, noting how he walked up the stairs with quiet steps. "I do know what happens to deserters" I affirmed.

"Good, now I spoke to the little bitch you carry about. You know? The slut?" He said nonchalantly.

"Her name is Valentina" I said through grounded teeth.

"But I’m not wrong, am I?" He raised a brow.

"There’s nothing wrong with the business" I ignored his obvious dig at Val.

"There’s just been too many issues lately, are you sure you can handle it? I may have to step back in again to help" He suggested.

"No. I can handle my empire pretty well and I don’t need your help in anything, I think what I need is for you to stay away from the business. You’re doing more harm than good and hope I don’t get my hands on whoever is feeding you information" I glared at him. "I’ll kill them and send their body back to your manor"

He smirked. "That would be a pretty sight. You know sometimes..." He paused and so did I.

There was a scraping sound upstairs followed by a muffled scream.

My father scoffed and leaned back in his seat. "Ah, Ravolo is probably just having his fun with her"

I froze.

Adriana was upstairs.

Shit.
