Chapter 384: Arena of Warriors 4

As the Samurai stepped forward Jace stepped back. He looked at the Khopesh for a moment before tossing it to the side. He moved further back and took the longsword that the Knight was using earlier. He decided he should use a weapon he was more familiar and experienced with.

Instead of chasing Jace, the Samurai took up a stance and watched Jace. Jace took a moment and observed the Samurai. This was going to be different. Neither of the other two warriors were going to interfere in the fight. But Jace could tell these fights would still be difficult.

Jace took up position opposite the Samurai. Then after a few seconds dashed forward with a sweeping strike. Instead of moving their body, the Samurai tilted his sword. Then when their two swords came in contact they redirected the force of Jace’s strike. Causing him to fall off balance.

Jace forced his fall into a roll and watched the Samurai take up another position opposite him. Except this time they took on a different stance. Jace had to get up and attack again. This time he tried to stab forward.

The Samurai just tapped their swords and completely threw off Jace’s strike. Then he was being hit in the head and stumbling backwards as he processed what happened. The Samurai did not just tap his sword off course, they also elbowed Jace in the face.

As he looked up he saw the Samurai did not pursue him. Instead he took on a different stance with his free hand forward. The Samurai made a gesture with his hand, essentially beckoning him to come at them.

Jace pulled himself up and thought for a moment before he took his own stance. Then he dashed forward, going low this time. The Samurai moved to side step his attack. But Jace stabbed his sword into the ground at the last moment and kicked out the Samurai’s legs from under them.

Then instead of pulling his sword out of the ground. Jace tackled the Samurai and then started punching him while pinning his sword arm to the ground with his knee. After a few punches the Samurai began turning into dust while his fist was bleeding and he could see something was broken in his right hand.

He forgot. He may be good with a sword. But before that he was a brawler. He was far more effective with his fists and moving his body.

He stood up and looked at the last two.

The Viking Berserker was the next to move. They were covered in animal furs and even had a wolf head on his head. He was wielding two hand axes and ran right toward him.

Jace returned the charge and lowered his body to tackle the Viking. But as he did he felt one of the axes sink into his back. The Berserker was flying through the air as Jace tossed him up. They landed with a thud and Jace turned around and slammed his foot down on their head.

They shattered into dust as well. Then while the Knight with the Greatsword slowly moved toward him he reached back and pulled the hand axe out of his back. He grunted in pain and looked at the bloodied hand axe before he threw it at the Knight.

Jace ran toward the Knight as they used the hilt of their sword to block the attack. Jace had to find a way to quickly put this knight off balance; they were far too large for him to just tackle. Instead he would have to put him off balance and then get him down.

But as the Knight broadened his stance, Jace realized that idea was not as feasible. Instead he would just have to kill him. Jace jumped up as the greatsword was cleaved through the air. It went right under him as Jace landed on the opposite side and closed the distance so he could get too close for the Knight to use their sword.

Jace then jumped up and grabbed onto the Knight’s back. Once he was up he grabbed the Knight’s throat and began choking him. The Knight dropped his sword and reached back to pull Jace off his back.

Jace gritted his teeth in pain as the Knight grabbed his wounded shoulder and Jace felt like his arm was being torn off. But after a few seconds as his vision began to get blurry he heard a crisp snap.

Then the Knight’s body went slack and released Jace’s body. Jace fell to the ground for a second breathing heavily. He looked up to the sky and saw the blood red moon hanging in the sky.

After a few seconds his vision was blocked by the figure of the Xenar. The gold was slowly peeling off its form to reveal a purple and dark green armor.

Congratulations. You managed to pass the Arena of Warriors. It is a stage no humans have even managed to enter.

Jace gritted his teeth as he pulled himself up and looked at the creature. He was no longer feeling the sense of danger. It had disappeared at some point. Jace looked around and saw the structure refiguring. The stands were disappearing along with the dust and weapons. The walls were being decorated in paintings and other art pieces. Some styles he recognized. Some he did not. "Where am I? What are you?" Jace asked as he noticed the large metal gate was still in place.

You already know where you are. You are in your mind. As for what I am. That is far more complicated. Something that I can explain to you. But first you need to rest.

Jace rolled his eyes. "I know I am in my mind. But I do not remember a place like this. I doubt even Cho or Salem know about this."

There was an ominous chuckling noise before the Xenar explained. That is because the Astral Beast is young. As for your wife. She has not reached your level of evolution. But as for what this area is called specifically, it is the Arena of Warriors. It is a concept you can access when your species evolves enough. Your desire for battle is what awakened it when you fully progressed to the next level.

Jace went to ask another question but the Xenar was suddenly pressing his forehead with a clawed hand. Then Jace was waking up.
