Chapter 31: Chapter 31 Franco-Chinese Mixed Blood

At noon, Jiayi and Tang En’en went to the employee cafeteria for lunch.

Amid the bustling crowd, they picked a relatively quiet spot. One ordered Kung Pao chicken fried rice with a can of Coke, and they chatted while savoring their meal.

"Hey, how on earth did you manage to deliver the samples to Souty Road within half an hour?" Tang En’en was still curious and wouldn’t miss the opportunity to ask during their break.

While scooping up rice, Jiayi mumbled an evasive response, "I just happened to hail a car when I left, and I was lucky that the driver knew a shortcut. Plus, we didn’t hit traffic, caught all the green lights, and just floored it the rest of the way."

Tang En’en pursed her lips, still not quite convinced.

She had been to that client on Souty Road before, and each trip, whether by cab or subway, had been sweaty and disheveled.

Yet, Jiayi returned cool and refreshed, as if she had only visited the company next door.

However, it seemed that this little assistant colleague was becoming more and more mysterious.

Just then, the footsteps of a female colleague could be heard from the cafeteria.

As the colleague approached, she glanced at their lunch and smiled, "Hey, what are you eating there? Today, Manager Qiao got promoted and is treating the marketing department to a feast over there. You should join us."

The female employee had been sent by Qiao Mina to invite them. Though it was an invitation, her tone was one of pity and disdain, as if dog food filled their plates.

Jiayi glanced at Tang En’en, then looked up, trying to be polite, "No need, please tell Manager Qiao that En’en and I are enjoying our meal and we’re almost finished, so we won’t be heading over."

The employee hadn’t expected their refusal and her voice turned harsher as she whispered, "Mina is now in charge of the marketing department. It’s an honor for her to invite you to lunch. Who do you two think you are? Don’t disrespect the kindness offered to you."

Qiao Mina’s lapdog was just as tricky and overbearing as her master.

Tang En’en deliberately bent her elbow, pretending to be accidental, and the can of Coke suddenly tilted, spilling its contents onto the female employee without leaving a single drop! 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

"You—" The colleague’s face fell in shock, and she screamed, "Tang En’en, why did you splash me?!"

"I saw that you bumped into it yourself, and the fact that En’en didn’t ask you for compensation is generous enough." Jiayi exchanged a knowing look with Tang En’en, nodding in silent agreement.

Despite the crowded restaurant, everyone was busy eating; who would notice En’en knocking the Coke onto a colleague?

The employee couldn’t defend herself and left in a huff, her facade of control totally gone.

Qiao Mina had seen everything clearly from the other side and knew all along that Jiayi and Tang En’en wouldn’t come over. She had sent someone merely to mock them, but unexpectedly, it was her own lackey who got played instead. Mina’s expression changed and she stood up abruptly, approaching them.

"I was merely being kind, inviting you to join us for a meal. Was it necessary to be so rude? If you didn’t want to come, just say no. But to pour a drink on the colleague who kindly invited you, aren’t you lacking manners?" Qiao Mina raised her voice deliberately, attracting the attention of the other employees in the cafeteria.

All eyes turned towards Jiayi and Tang En’en, and whispers began to spread.

After all, Qiao Mina was a veteran employee and had just been promoted. Most people would definitely take her side.

Rude? Lacking manners? As if she’s some kind of white lotus flower! Tang En’en was fuming.

Jiayi pressed down her hand and said calmly, "As we said earlier, it was that colleague over there who got too excited and accidentally bumped into the Coke."

"I’m sorry, but I clearly saw it was Tang En’en who knocked the Coke onto her!" Qiao Mina pressed aggressively.

Jiayi smiled slightly, her dimples revealing an innocent yet cunning charm, "Oh? With Manager Qiao standing so far away, you could still see that it was Tang En’en who deliberately spilled the drink on a colleague. Have you been watching us the whole time? Is there something you need? Or could it be that Manager Qiao anticipated this would happen?"

The crowd’s gaze shifted back to Qiao Mina.

Mina’s face tightened, and she was about to counterattack when the sound of footsteps was heard; the cafeteria staff parted, creating a path. Some even stood up: "President Gu."

Could it be the top boss of JJ, the Executive General Manager, Samuel Gu?

Jiayi looked over.

It is said that Samuel is of Chinese-French mixed heritage, his father being Chinese and his birth mother a French beauty, rumored to even possess ancient royal bloodline. He has the profound and handsome features of a Western man, sapphire blue eyes, and yet the gentleness and subtlety of an Eastern person.

Seeing him today, he certainly lives up to his reputation.

Samuel seemed to have heard the commotion here and walked towards Jiayi and Qiao Mina.

Qiao Mina immediately put on a different face, smilingly pushed through the crowd, and bowed, "Good day, President Gu."

However, Samuel’s gaze fell directly on Jiayi, "Are you the new marketing assistant?"

The president actually took the initiative to ask about a small assistant from the marketing department?

The employees’ eyes widened, unable to believe it, filled with envy, jealousy, and hatred.

Qiao Mina’s face turned the color of liver, although Samuel had always ignored her, at least he would respond when she greeted him in the past, but today he treated her as if she were thin air!

The president, high and mighty, how could he possibly know about me?

Could it be that Huo Zhenyang had mentioned me to him? Could every little thing I do in the company, every incident that occurs, be reported to Huo Zhenyang by Samuel Gu?

Jiayi was puzzled and asked politely, "Yes, President Gu. How would you know about such a minor employee like me?"

A gentle smile surfaced on Samuel’s face as he nodded, "I just got a call from a client on Souty Road, mentioning that you did well today. You managed to deliver the sample before their CEO’s flight, good job."

So that was it. Jiayi snapped back to reality, pulled by Tang En’en, "Thank you for the compliment, President Gu."

"Keep up the hard work, you can do it, I have faith in you," Samuel said with a smile, leaving her with those words before he turned and left.

In the dining hall, everyone was stunned for a moment, then the room erupted.

The president personally visited the staff dining room and even praised a junior assistant from the marketing department!

Who would still care about Tang En’en and Jiayi teaming up to fix Qiao Mina at this point!

Quite a few people crowded around Jiayi, seeking to get close to her.

"Jiayi, you’re so impressive, to have caught the attention of President Gu."

"It looks like a promotion for Jiayi is only a matter of time!"

"Yes, Jiayi just has the look of someone with a bright future!"

"Jiayi, Jiayi, don’t forget about me when you move up..."

Even the few followers around Qiao Mina couldn’t help but step forward a few paces, looking at Jiayi with different eyes now.

Qiao Mina’s promotion by the vice president was impressive, but it couldn’t compare to Jiayi being personally praised by Samuel!

Qiao Mina clenched her fists. Who was this unknown, obscure girl? Only a few days here, and she had managed to knock herself down from her princess throne.

Her face turned from red to ashen.

Samuel returned to the general manager’s office, only to see a man already sitting on the leather sofa.

The man sat tall and proud, exuding an aura of authority even without anger, his narrow eyes slightly downcast, overlooking the cityscape through the clear, bright floor-to-ceiling windows.

Samuel closed the door and greeted him with a smile, "President Huo, I just saved your sweetheart for you."
