Chapter 127: CH 127: Best Shooter Alive (WMR5)
Dave’s fingers moved with precision, his expression unreadable. From his void space, a realm invisible to the eyes but tethered to his wil, something shimmered into existence.
The air around his hand warped briefly, before solidifying into a cold steel. It was then that everyone could see what it is, as a certain weapon had dropped into his hand.
It was unassuming in design but unmistakable in presence. Sleek, deadly, and modern. A weapon most people had stopped using in a world crawling with beasts.
Beasts that are strong enough to survive multiple attacks from the said weapon. Especially the advanced tier beasts.
Gasps rippled through the crowd as they saw the gun in Dave’s hand.
"A rifle! He’s got a rifle!" one of the masked men shouted, his voice cracking with disbelief and a sudden fear.
But he wouldn’t get another word out as a sharp PANG split the air, the gunshot echoing like a whipcrack against the stone walls.
The man’s chest erupted in a burst of red, as the force of the bullet threw him backward. His body crumpled into the dust without ceremony.
At that moment, panic had set in. Screams tore through the crowd as people ducked, scattered, or froze in place.
Chaos surged like a wave. Yet amidst the rising din, Dave remained perfectly still, he was as calm as death itself. But he wasn’t firing at everyone.
His eyes scanned the mass of people, picking his targets with eerie precision. He aimed only at the masked figures, the ones standing tall behind their blades. The ones that radiated with authority and cruelty. Those were his prey.
A second shot cracked and another masked man dropped, his scream choked off mid-breath.
Dave had just lined up his next shot, the third masked man in his sights, as his finger tightened on the trigger, when he noticed movement near the back of the formation.
The burly man, the one commanding the masked men, had started gesturing sharply to them. His voice didn’t carry over the distance, but his intent was clear: he was forming a new strategy.
The masked men immediately began shifting, weaving themselves into the crowd of people, using them as human shields. They moved quickly, ducking low, crouching behind families and frightened stragglers, knowing full well it would complicate Dave’s next shot.
"Cowards hiding behind innocents!" Dave clicked his tongue.
But still, even as his targets melted into the mass of people, his expression remained calm. After all, this wasn’t just a weapon in his hands, it was an extension of mastery.
His shooting skill wasn’t just for play, it was maxed out and perfected with 100% Precision and Accuracy. He’s currently the best shooter alive in whole of earth.
Still seated atop the broad back of the Berad beast, he adjusted his posture slightly. From his elevated vantage, he could still see the masked men, their posture moving slightly, shoulders ducking, with masks shifting through the crowd.
But he didn’t fire yet. Instead, he turned his head slightly toward the three men behind him; Peter, Kurt, and Jeff.
"Loosen the ropes around your hands," Dave said, his voice calm but firm. "Get everyone to move away from the masked men. You said they work for Kim Hyun. Right?"
All three nodded, the truth written plainly on their faces.
"Then I need you to show everyone who they’re really following," Dave murmured. "Like I said, I won’t hurt anybody that is innocent. But those cohorts of Kim Hyun, not likely."
He returned his gaze to the crowd, his rifle steady in his grip. The barrel shifted just slightly as he began to aim again, not recklessly, but with the careful hand of someone who knew he couldn’t miss.
Peter, Kurt, and Jeff began to pull at the ropes wrapped around their wrists, loosening the knots they had all tied by themselves. They had intentionally did this to see if the masked men would save them or not. But in the end, they didn’t care about them, it had also went to prove to Dave that the men were indeed Earth’s most wanted criminals.
The fibers of the ropes slipped free easily, dropping to the ground like discarded shackles. Then without hesitation, they started moving toward the dense crowd of people. Though chaos still lingered from the earlier gunfire, people were beginning to regroup in small, nervous clusters.
Many recognized the three men immediately. They weren’t strangers. They were the heart of this community; as they were the first to join the growing ranks of beast tamers under Kim Hyun’s influence.
As the three men pushed through the gathering, Peter’s voice rose above the clamor, sharp, commanding, filled with desperation.
"Everyone, listen!" he shouted. "Move! Get away from the masked men! If you don’t want to get caught in the crossfire, now is the time to act!"
Kurt and Jeff flanked him, echoing the warning with equal urgency. "Step aside! They’re not who you think they are!"
The crowds could hear them shouting, but they couldn’t help but tilt their heads around to see if they had heard them right. Confusion immediately rippled through the people like a rising tide.
"What are they saying?" someone murmured.
"Did he say to move away from the leaders?" another asked, brow furrowed.
"Are they serious? What’s going on?"
Suspicion and uncertainty flickered in their eyes. To all of them, the masked men weren’t threats, they were their mentors, their protectors.
The ones who had taken them in when the world began to fall apart. The ones who had shown them how to awaken their powers, how to tame beasts, how to survive.
To be told now, in the midst of this violent eruption, that those same leaders were the enemy... it didn’t make sense to them.
But Peter wasn’t giving up.
"They’re Kim Hyun’s men!" he bellowed, voice straining with urgency. "They’re not here to protect you, they’re using you! Step away from them before it’s too late!"
The crowd began to shift, a few of them were stepping back, while the others hesitated, their eyes darting between the masked men and the trio yelling the warning.
Doubt was blooming. And once doubt took root, it didn’t take long for the truth to follow.
Watching everything unfold was Kim Hyun himself. "What are those three idiots saying! How did they know my name!" But he couldn’t help but look at the man sitting on the beast. "That person, he can tame beast just like me, but why is he attacking my base?! And he seems to be asking for his women..."
It was then that he recalled a certain memory of someone yelling that a man would come for them. At that moment, a smile had appeared on his face. "Really? It is this guy?"
Instantly, he had started making his way back to the room he had come from, his smile growing widely as he concort a plan in his mind.
