SSS Ranked Taboo Student-Chapter 256: Campers -
Kieran’s voice sounded through the comm and the next instant, the sound of gunshots reached their ears.
Reacting, Max and Zara exchanged a single glance, realizing that because of their little adventure they were far behind the squad.
"Fuck!"
Cursing in sync, Zara hurriedly pulled up her shorts. Leaving her boobs to bounce freely in the air while she slipped out a dagger.
"Copy! Backup on the way." Max spoke through the comm, zipping up his pants and already jogging forward.
"I’ll be able to lock onto them from the trees. You go, I’ll cover."
Zara stabbed the tree with uncanny strength. The sniper rifle was slung behind her while she ascended.
–
Meanwhile– facing the center of engagement, John’s pupils shrunk.
"Shit! We are being ambushed by two groups! Retreat! I’ll cover."
Kieran, Ash, and Dominic’s faces fell as they heard this.
Two schools actually joined forces, such shamelessness.
But then again, they realized that there were no rules to begin with.
Though he shouted retreat, John made a secret signal for Dominic and Ash to strike covertly. Because retreating would have more casualties than meeting them head-on.
Ash was like a panther sneaking behind the trees. Dominic in the opposite side but same direction, opened fire with his silenced rifle.
The joint squad of two schools were caught off guard and thrown into disarray by this. Commanding shouts rang through the forest afterwards.
Briar took cover while Sasha covered Kieran and John who were facing direct fire from the enemy squad.
"Shit! Sniper in sight!"
John shouted but it was already too late.
Bang!
A .50 BMG pierced through the trunk of a tree then through Kieran who leaped just in time to protect John.
"Fuck! We lost Kieran. Where’s our backup?"
With no guarantee of safety due to the hidden sniper, John decided to go all out.
Both machine guns roared to life, shooting a steady stream of high-caliber bullets.
Screams of the enemy announcing their losses broke out.
Ash and Dominic already took out one target each by surprise. But the enemy were also elites like them, reacting fast to cover their flanks, locking in a standoff.
They were 1 man short; sooner or later John would run out of bullets. If the sniper was far enough to be suppressed by the machine guns, John would soon be taken out.
"I’m sending the drones to lock on the sniper’s location!"
"Backup! Do you copy?"
Briar’s voice rang through the comm just as Zara reached the tree’s crown.
"Copy! You say they’ve got a sniper?" Zara slanted over the tree’s branch while holding her sniper rifle in position and hoping that the branch wouldn’t give up from the recoil when she fired.
Hearing Zara’s voice, Briar felt relieved.
"On it," she said as she quickly switched screens between the two drones she had sent out.
"Gotcha! 2 o’clock towards the West!"
Having reloaded, the opposition sniper who was a dark-skinned youth cursed when he sighted the drones. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"I have to take her out before she pinpoints my location."
* Briar was just about to brief Zara of the sniper tree’s appearance when another distinct bang rang out. Her head was blown off leaving Zara grim over the comm.
"Bastard."
Zara, still oblivious to her exposed boobs, zoomed the scope to the limit and steadied her breath.
Not long after— "Found you!"
–
On the other end. The dark-skinned youth had just reloaded and prepared to fire when a silenced bullet pierced a clean hole through his head.
"Shit, I’m out of rounds."
John glanced down to see empty shells pooled around so that his feet got covered by them.
The enemy took note of this and jumped out of hiding, opening fire at his lone figure.
"Fuck you."
Unfortunately, John had no intent of giving away a point. He already pulled the pin of a grenade and killed himself. Making his kill point 4.
Ash and Dominic killed their second targets before being surrounded.
Luckily, Ash took an opposition with him.
Now it was just Zara, Sasha, with Max who was yet to arrive against four opposition.
Sasha hid behind a tree as four figures revealed themselves in the open while cautiously pointing their guns around. A single twitch was what it would take to open fire.
Watching through her scope Zara contemplated; she could take one out and gain a kill point but she knew better. Her job was to support when her teammate was in danger.
There was no way Sasha could take on those four people.
In the pensive silence of the battlefield just moments ago, bodies and empty shells could be seen scattered about as four figures moved in a rotating kite formation, ready to strike.
Watching this scene from above, Max pulled out the pin and threw down the grenade.
Sure, the distinct ping made them glance in his direction. But their minds were too slow to figure out he was high above a tree.
The grenade exploded without fault, sending one head flying and the rest to fly, slamming hard against the trees.
Calm and analytical, Max confirmed his kill with precise shots.
In the real world, those watching the scene on one of the five screens couldn’t be more shocked. But what Max did next left them all speechless. A popular tactic employed in battle royale games:
Drop the bait and camp for kills.
"Sasha, lie low and release 5 shots."
Max spoke over the comms.
Although she was a bit reluctant, Sasha still did as told.
As expected, another group sneakily arrived at the bloody site hoping that they could pick up leftovers.
But unfortunately after looking around, they found nothing and let down their guard.
Max threw down the unpinned grenade he was holding onto at the center of five youths.
They reacted too late.
Due to the fact that the grenade came from above, their necks couldn’t withstand the explosive force.
"Shit!"
Unexpectedly there was a teammate left behind the group who witnessed this scene. A sniper user. Before he could position to shoot at Max, Zara took him out.
