Chapter 1210: What Was Left Behind (IV)

“This place is wonderful!” Li Hao smiled at his baffled comrades. “These ruins are great! But Zheng Yu should be aware of certain details now, and that his father lived here for countless years.

“Someone from the Lis should be aware of this place as well, but they haven’t been able to claim the blade in all this time. I suppose this means that we don’t need to be worried about anyone taking it before us...

“Do you think Ying Hongyue knows about this place?” A light flashed through Li Hao’s eyes.

The other two Saints looked blankly at him. How would we know? And does it matter if he knows?

“Ying Hongyue’s been living too comfortably these days,” Li Hao said after quickly running through calculations. “I’m going to pay him a visit...”

Too comfortably?

Capsize Sea didn’t know about that, but the old turtle was well aware. Ying Hongyue was leading anything but a comfortable life these days.

The man had fled from the central region to the northern continent, then run from the north to Great Li even further north. He was then forced into leading the three great organizations and Yonder Mountain to Divine Nation in the west. He only had one thousand supernaturals under his command now, a far cry from his vast horde in days past. How was that comfortable?

Did Li Hao understand what the word ‘comfortable’ meant?

Meanwhile, the young man entertained various ideas. He wanted to meet with Ying Hongyue! It’d been a long time since they last saw each other. While he might not be able to kill the man, he was certain that a group of people must be keeping an eye on Ying Hongyue. There might be people from Zheng Yu, Red Moon, and even the Li family around him!

With Ying Hongyue as the focal point, perhaps Li Hao would be able to hunt down a group of powerhouses!

Things would be even more interesting if the Moon God happened to be nearby.

Since there was quite a crowd in that area and he’d delegated all of his responsibilities to others, then he would join the party! This was also a chance to stop future trouble from reaching him.

As for Zheng Yu’s Galewind city, it would not easily reveal itself at present. Zheng Yu himself might have gone to Silver City. Li Hao laughed to himself when he felt that this was the most likely scenario. Zheng Yu was afraid that he would break the seal, wasn’t he?

That was the attitude he’d projected before, so that must be on Zheng Yu’s mind now. That was just as well—it would restrict Zheng Yu’s movements and prevent the exalted emperor from further damaging the seal.

If possible, Li Hao would rather avoid weakening the seal. Everything he’d done so far had simply been to intimidate Zheng Yu. That guy must be thinking that since I can’t outfight him, I’m going to go all out and ignore any repercussions. He probably wishes that he could hide the seal!

“Although no one’s claimed the blade, there is still some risk here,” Li Hao said with another glance at the eight thrones. “Guardian Turtle should remain on guard here for a while, the Sea Pacification Envoy is needed at Boundless! General Pagoda should return to Battle Heaven to stand guard.”

The old turtle didn’t mind; it was just slightly apprehensive. “What if... what if I accidentally barge into that place...”

It was afraid—not of death, but of that presence. It made one very uncomfortable.

“And what are you afraid of?” Capsize Sea interjected. “You’re a weapon, how are you getting inside if no one takes you in? Cut the blather and settle into your duties!”

Stop talking! What if I’m tapped for the job instead? I’m not gonna do it! I’d be scared to death!

“Is the Green Emperor... really that evil?” Li Hao couldn’t help but ask. “Isn’t he one of the masters of the world? Why are the two of you reacting like you’ve seen a demon?”

The two didn’t make a sound. Was the Green Emperor a demon?

To the Human King and his companions, the Green Emperor was fun, adorable, kind, and mature...

But to some other people, that was a... horrifically frightful existence. There was no concept of right or wrong, good or evil in its heart.

This kind of entity was terrifying as he simply followed his own whims. For instance, the Green Emperor would think it’s perfectly normal to eat beef if he wanted to. As for who or what he ate, did that matter?

The water cow family curried favor for all they were worth in order to avoid being eaten. Capsize Sea’s father and grandfather sometimes even had to cut off their own flesh so the Green Emperor could enjoy hotpot. It was such a sad, pitiful exalted emperor life!

Li Hao didn’t know any of that and Capsize Sea was too embarrassed to say anything. “No no,” the golden cow laughed awkwardly. “How would we ever? It’s just that the Green Emperor can’t possibly be here, so we’re worried that whatever he’s left in these ruins may randomly activate...”

That’s possibly the worst bullshit I’ve ever heard. Li Hao couldn’t be bothered to respond.

“I’ll explore that place again after getting some blood qi from the eight families,” the young man said instead. “Or I’ll bring Director General Zhao and the others with me—but they’re so weak that I’m afraid they’ll be drained dry!

“This is a great place. If we want to fight exalted emperors, we need to understand them in greater detail!”

That’s what you think!

The young man left the old turtle behind and left the ruins with Capsize Sea. The golden cow had wanted to leave a very long time ago.

Within the ruins, the old turtle swiftly fled from the Hall of Discourse. It hunkered down at the entrance to cultivate, ready to run at the slightest disturbance. The turtle made itself comfortable with a pitiful look, hoping for Li Hao to come fetch it as soon as possible.

......

At this moment, the west.

Just as Li Hao guessed, there was quite a commotion taking place.

A group of red-robed powerhouses could frequently be seen throughout the land, wanting to kill the Moon God. They did not attack Ying Hongyue.

In the meantime, a group of black-robed heavyweights also appeared regularly, protecting the Moon God. They fought the red robes, but did not attack Ying Hongyue either.

Meanwhile, Ying Hongyue followed the Moon God’s group.

None of the four factions were in contact with each other, but each seemed to know the other’s identities. Their battlefield had shifted from the Skystar continent to the western reaches.

There was no helping it, Li Hao of Skystar was too difficult an opponent. Here, the worst off was still the Moon God’s faction as she was constantly hunted down.

Livid, she continuously scanned the land behind her. Those from the Red Moon world were out for her head. How would they dare chase her if it wasn’t for Li Hao killing even Saint-level divine spirits??

The limits of divine spirit cultivation were the same as Li Hao. Since the world could tolerate ninth level Sun and Moon now, that was the level of strength that the divine spirit Saints could bring to bear. They were also manifestations of the heavenly dao.

Whether it was New Martial or Red Moon, their current limit was capped at peak Immortal—seventh level Sun and Moon.

The Divine Nation queen cursed to herself. If it wasn’t for the sun god and war god dying, they would’ve killed these pursuers long ago! But now, a tiger could be insulted by dogs when it was relegated to the plains!

The number of divine spirits steadily dwindled. Some more had died after many days of pursuit. Only five were left now, six if counting her. Thankfully, Li Hao had raised the limit of the world a bit more. That increased their battle strength, making them stronger than peak Immortal. It was why they hadn’t been exterminated yet.

This can’t be permitted to continue. We’re completely caught on the back foot. I need to figure out how to revive the god of prophecy!

The Moon God’s mind raced furiously. There was no hope for the sun god and war god, but it remained for the god of prophecy. Li Hao should still be looking for the god’s dao star.

As for herself, she wasn’t worried about that. Her dao star was likely not in the dao universe, but the seal. The moon that lit up Silver Moon world was the foundation of her great dao. When it came to the other dao stars that were the byproduct of her other meridians, it was fine if they were shattered.

She had recovered much of her battle strength, she simply wasn’t willing to expose all of her trump cards. The black robes were helping to defeat her enemies—a fact that sat perfectly well with her. Those black robes likely came from the Zheng family.

Clearly, they were worried that the seal would break if she died and affected the moon.

But why are Ying Hongyue’s people chasing us? That ran outside of the Moon God’s comprehension and she was highly irritated by the damnable fellow.

She’d met the guy once—Ying Hongyue had been very polite—but the queen had hated the look of his smile. She’d punched without further word and didn’t win the fight. Not wanting to bother with the partnership he offered, she ran off.

The Moon God wouldn’t trust any one of these fellows that looked cultured and refined.

As for the cooperation that he talked about... Despite knowing that he was Li Hao’s enemy, she still didn’t want to work with a bastard that looked elegant.

......

At the same time.

Ying Hongyue scowled. He’d offered the partnership with genuine sincerity since Li Hao was both of their enemies. If she worked with him, those of Red Moon world would not easily attack the Moon God again.

But no matter what he said, that fool of a god ignored him. And now all parties involved were fighting each other! Wouldn’t that just serve to benefit Li Hao in the end?

Whether it was Red Moon, Zheng Yu, himself, or Divine Nation... their enemy was Li Hao!

“We need to stop this internal bleeding.” Ying Hongyue paused for a deep breath. “We need to unify our strength against Li Hao! We shouldn’t be fighting each other. Whether it is Red Moon’s side or the Zhengs, none of them can leave their headquarters at the moment. There is no need to pit ourselves against each other...”

Why wouldn’t any of these guys listen to reason?

“All of us know that, but we’re all afraid of him!” The Celestial Sword Immortal bore an aloof attitude and identified the crux of the issue. “No one thinks they will gain anything from fighting him, just death! Therefore, we might as well find something else to do first and wait for the world to revitalize. There will naturally be powerhouses that march on Li Hao then, as opposed to rounds of weaklings going to their deaths and bringing presents to him!”

Who didn’t know that Li Hao was their greatest enemy? They all did!

But the key was that they’d suffered loss after loss. A bunch of Saints were dead, as well as apparently an Empyrean King. Whether it was the Zhengs or Red Moon, who dared make trouble for Li Hao now?

It was better to do something here and feel useful for once.

Ying Hongyue frowned, those words were true, but it was just creating further trouble for them.

“Yama is dead and we only have about a thousand left under our command,” the Celestial Sword Immortal growled impatiently. “We’ve been running to and fro, and now Divine Nation refuses to cooperate. Ying Hongyue, is there still a way out for us if this continues? There is barely anyone left of Celestial, I don’t want to keep wasting our lives here!”

“What do you mean?” Ying Hongyue turned his frown on the woman.

“If this continues, you can keep running yourself—I’m leaving! You’ve kept too much to yourself and refused to tell us everything you know. People keep dying and we are without hope. Death is the only end in store for us if we keep following you!

“Li Hao will not target Celestial first when he kills people. There aren’t many of us left and he may ignore us completely if we hole up somewhere!”

They would be Ying Hongyue’s primary target if they continued to stay with Ying Hongyue.

The man’s frown deepened. As he thought... the result Li Hao wanted was almost here. Was he to be deserted by all of his followers?
