Chapter 706: The Scapegoat

Wilderness

The Tier-6 Tsetse Fly Beasts were hovering above the access hatch. At this time, it was not only the Tier-6 Beast that was here.

Other insect beasts had come as well, including the one with the injured compound eyes. That Tier-6 Beast was more enraged than the others.

It could still see, but its vision was not that great anymore after learning that the culprit went into the hideout to hide.

The beast moved closer towards the access hatch. Now, the two Tier-6 Beasts were hovering near the access hatch.

The rest of the beasts were in a group like a dark cloud. The dark cloud was hovering in mid-air not far away from them.

At this point, the Tsetse Fly insect beasts were in revenge mode. They wouldn’t leave until they killed the enemy.

The other corrupted beasts in the vicinity had already fled. No one was near this area, including the Beast Tamers.

This was because the area beyond this particular place was nothing but unexplored territory, which was all the more familiar to the Tsetse Fly Beasts.

So, they were not afraid of other dangers.

Just as the two Tier-6 Beasts were locked onto that access hatch...

Creak!

The hatch door opened the next moment.

The next second, four Tier-5 Beast Tamers appeared out of the underground basement.

Swoosh!

The four of them rushed outside to leave, but they were met with giant pairs of compound eyes.

The four Beast Tamers saw the massive eyes of the beasts right above their heads. The next second, their hearts were gripped with fear.

"Impossible!"

"What?"

"We are doomed!"

"It’s over!"

The four Beast Tamers voiced their opinions out of extreme fear. They didn’t know what to do next.

They were all like frozen statues. The two Tier-6 Beasts didn’t expect the human Beast Tamers to come out from the hideout.

Now they were all the more ready to extract revenge from the human Beast Tamers. The situation was like an added bonus to them.

The veteran Beast Tamers quickly collected their thoughts. They didn’t have time to inform their leader, Mike.

The four Beast Tamers looked at each other’s faces. The next second, they decided to flee.

But they had underestimated the ability of the Tier-6 Beasts. Their minute movements were under the scanner of the beasts.

The Tier-6 Beasts had guessed what they were about to do next.

Pfff!

Before they could flee from the place, their bodies were pierced by the needle-like mouthparts of the Tier-6 Beasts in the blink of an eye.

Pfff!

The next second, the two Tier-6 Tsetse Fly Beasts began to drink blood from the bodies. In the blink of an eye, the four bodies became dry corpses without an ounce of blood left.

From beginning to end, not even five minutes had passed, but the four Beast Tamers were killed by the Tier-6 Beasts.

Only now did the two Tier-6 Corrupted Beasts feel good. They had gotten their kills and food after a long time.

They had been pissed off by a Tier-3 Human Beast Tamer before. Now they had their revenge by killing other human Beast Tamers.

But the hunger of the two Tier-6 Beasts was not satisfied. The two beasts could sense the presence of other humans hiding inside the basement.

At this point, the other fly beasts in the group wanted to join the fun as well, but the two Tier-6 Tsetse Fly Beasts didn’t give them a chance.

They continued to look towards the access hatch.

Meanwhile, Mike and the other members were waiting for the senior members to return. As time went by, they received no response from the four Beast Tamers.

Mike was feeling the heat. He was getting impatient. They had orders to dispatch; they couldn’t wait here all day.

Mike felt the gazes of the other members. The eight members left there knew something was wrong, but they were not ready to voice their opinions.

Otherwise, they could be the next ones sent to check the situation outside.

As time went by, the sound that was coming from above stopped. Now the place was quiet.

The members had relaxed expressions on their faces. They thought the corrupted beasts had gone for good.

If so, there was no problem for them anymore; they could do their jobs. Mike was obviously relaxed as well. He believed that the problem was over.

Yet, he was not ready to go outside to check the place himself. He once again sent four members to check the situation outside.

This time, there were two Tier-5 Beast Tamers and two Tier-4 Beast Tamers. They went to check the situation outside. They were not afraid anymore.

They believed that it was safe outside. What’s more, if there were any danger above, their lifeline beasts would have warned them.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Night was watching the situation with his X-ray vision. He didn’t feel good about it. He, too, noticed that the noise had stopped coming from above.

Especially the disturbing buzzing sound. He thought that the beasts could have left the place, but he still had lingering doubts.

Because he had done such damage to the Tier-6 Beast, he doubted the beast would leave without killing him.

The four Beast Tamers who went earlier hadn’t returned. He thought they had likely died. Now it had been some time since the buzzing noise stopped.

He was eager to know what the four Beast Tamers would find out. He was surprised to know that no one bothered to check the hideout.

I have been hiding here, yet the leader isn’t even aware of my presence. Maybe he was so confident that he didn’t even bother to check the place.

Outside, the Tsetse Fly Beasts had stopped flying. Instead, they were resting on the ground right near the access hatch.

Creak!

The Beast Tamers opened the access door and walked out. They saw nothing flying above their heads.

But their bodies froze in fear the next moment. The lifeline beasts in their mental zones felt something terrible hiding nearby. They were giving warnings to their contractors.

The Beast Tamers were shocked to the core. They couldn’t move their bodies now.
