Substitute Wife for the Mafia King R18-Chapter 428: Be Mine
As if providing a feast for my eyes wasn’t enough, I spotted shadows of a group of people that slowly emerged into the garden in front of the mansion.
Then, it all started.
The sound of live classical music flooded the golden-lit garden of the mansion and seemed to transform the entire atmosphere into something so magical. I was never quite a big fan of classical music, but even so, I couldn’t deny that the unexpected live performance sucked me in and held me captive. My mood suddenly felt joyous and yet peaceful at the very same time.
The parade of black limousines finally arrived at the driveway in front of the mansion. I wondered what was going on, and what was the reason behind such a grand procession in which I seemed to be the only intended audience. Despite all the surprise, there was one thing that was clear to me and that was the man that was behind it all was none other than Bradon.
"Bradon..." I whispered his name under my breath as the door to one of the limousines opened.
I knew that it couldn’t be anyone else that would step out of that car. Time seemed to slow and everything moved as if in slowmotion as my heart beat rapidly fast in my chest. Everything told me that I couldn’t wait to see him and to hear his explanation. Bradon stepped out of the limousine, dressed in his standard all-black attire that I had gotten used to. It felt very like him, and it made me feel like I was seeing his true self.
Without a word but with a slightly mischeviously smugged smile on his lips, he slowly walked towards me. My attention was so consumed by his presence and the beautiful curve of his lips that I didn’t realize it was that he was holding a very large bouquet of deep red roses in his hand.
"What is going on?" I asked in a breathless whisper.
Bradon continued smiling as he came to stand in front of me without saying a word. The beautiful classical live music faded into the background along with the spectacle of lights because all I could see was the man standing right in front of me. He made me feel as if there was nothing and no one that I needed in my life apart from him. As his beautiful intense gaze landed on my face and our eyes met, I could hardly breathe. The way that he was looking at me seemed to answer all of my questions at once without the use of words.
I opened my mouth, but no words would come out. The feeling that I knew what was the come but wans’t quite sure how I was going to handle it took over me in full, and I felt like a figure carved into stone. I stood there staring up at Bradon’s captivating eyes as if frozen in time.
"It’s finally time," Bradon said in a low whisper.
His voice sounded silky smooth as if he was singing a sweet loving lullaby that was meant for my ears only. My lower lip quivered as I felt intense waves of emotions washed over me. I didn’t know what exactly I was feeling but the intensity of it all moved me very close to tears. I wanted to cry, yet at the same time, I knew that I needed to hold the tears back and focus on what he was about to say. Something told me that this moment was going to change my life, his life, and our future forever.
Without taking his eyes off of me, Bradon slowly got on one knee. It was a scene that I had witnessed my times before both on screen and in real life when my friends got proposed to. However, to see it happen to me made it feel so unreal. With his eyes still meeting mine, Bradon slowly handed me the bouquet of roses.
"Marry me, Dahlia," Bradon proposed simply.
Bradon beamed with confidence as he waited for my reply. I was stunned speechless for a moment as I stared down at his upturned face. Everything around me felt much brighter and lighter than ever before. It didn’t take me long for me to realize that what I was feeling must have been overwhelming happiness. I coudln’t stop smiling as my head began nodding automatically up and down in agreement and acceptance.
"I will..." I replied in a small voice that didn’t quite sound like my own.
"I’ll take care of you forever, Dahlia," Bradon promised as he took out a small black velvet box.
It wasn’t the first time that Bradon was about to place a ring on my ring finger, but I had never felt so excited in my life. This time, it definitely felt different and more real. This was the real thing. Because I was still wearing the ring that he had given me, I nervously began taking it off but Bradon stopped me with his hand. I watched as he slowly and firmly placed another large diamond ring on my left hand ring finger.
"Perfect..." he said as he guided my left hand to his lips.
He kissed the back of my hand softly before his lips moved down further to kiss the rings that were on my ring finger. My heart fluttered in my chest and this time it felt so futile to hold my tears back. Instead of fighting what was inevitable, I let the tears of happiness overflow and flow down my cheeks in streams.
"Why are you crying?" Bradon asked a little teasingly.
"Becuase...I’m just so happy..." I replied honestly.
"Don’t cry. I only want to see you smile from now on," Bradon said as he slowly stood up.
I closed my eyes and let him wipe the tears away from my cheeks with the pad of his thumb. The moment felt so sacred and magical as I smiled through my tears of happiness.
"I love you..." I said before I could stop myself.
