Talent Awakening! Every Legendary Summon Grants Me Assassin Attributes-Chapter 21: Evolving my Assassin skills
[Congratulations Crow on becoming a Bronze Assassin]
[Here are your rewards]
Oliver scrolled down through the grey, ethereal holographic light of the System, his eyes scanning the shifting information it held.
"Wow... This is—this is quite the haul!" Oliver exclaimed, his voice edged with disbelief as his gaze locked onto the two new skills he had earned.
[Your Rewards]
[Racell: the monstrous blade carved from the tooth of the Onyx Serpent, laced with a lethal poison that few would dare endure. A poison that, if refined to its final form, is said to possess the lethality to kill even gods] [D Rank]
[Decoy: A killer of the shadows is most powerful when unreadable. Create a five-second illusion of any object or person you touch.]
[Warning: User can only create a single illusion at a time. Illusions disappear when attacked] [D Rank]
One reward was a D-Rank weapon—one that could rival, or even surpass, the Blood-Sucking Daggers. Especially when going up against monsters that had no blood or need for it to survive, like rock creatures or slimes... poison had far more utility in such encounters.
Oliver couldn’t help but smile at the Decoy skill. From what he understood, he should be able to create an image of himself as well. That alone made it extremely valuable for his Assassin Class.
He could already imagine the kind of chaos he could weave with this.
Come to think of it, he had been accumulating a lot of Evolution Karma Points for a while now.
’I already have more than enough to distribute... I should start investing.’
Oliver recalled a particular lesson in his first life, one that stuck with him through his regression... Those who grew their strength every time they gained a single stat point or minor increase in power preferred immediate gratification... but that small habit made them rely too heavily on Talent growth rather than mastering control over that Talent.
That was why a Level Three Talent Awakener could defeat a Level Five, despite the clear difference in raw strength.
Because control far outweighed outbursts of strength.
Oliver repeated in his mind.
He summoned the System with a sigh.
[Evolution Karma Points: 125]
This was his first time dealing with such mechanics, so he had no idea how many points each skill evolution would require.
’I should test this out.’ 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
[Stealth (C Rank) → (B Rank)]
[Evolution Points Required: 30]
Without hesitation, Oliver accepted.
"This is better than I expected."
[Stealth Skill (B Rank): Cooldown time after use has been reduced to 5 seconds. User can now remain permanently in stealth mode.]
[Warning: Stealth mode will be automatically deactivated if the user is hit]
[Evolution Points: 95]
"Now I can permanently stay in stealth... that’s going to be useful for both combat and reconnaissance."
A massive boost.
With this, Oliver could have eliminated every last Orc without taking a single hit.
"Yet I doubt it would be that easy..." Oliver muttered, a faint frown tugging at his lips. "It sounds too good to be true."
’I’ll probably consume more stamina... or there’s some hidden drawback,’ he thought.
"And for the rest of my Evolution Points, it would be rather savory if I keep them till I can test and evaluate the two new skills, that way I can figure where best to place them." Oliver blinked a few times as a new notification popped before his gaze.
[Your summon has killed a Cave Orc]
He turned toward the Dark Crow.
The creature slumped over the corpse of the last Orc it had killed, its wings slightly spread as if they could no longer support its weight. It looked almost lifeless, chest rising and falling heavily as it dragged in deep, labored breaths.
It was injured, but nothing fatal.
"Whenever the thought of how great being a summoner crosses my mind, you never fail to crush it," Oliver taunted lightly.
The weary Crow responded with a sluggish shake of its head before dissolving into shadows, its form unraveling into strands of darkness until it vanished completely.
It was probably trying to say—
If you’re so capable, then scout on your own.
Oliver would have been unsettled before.
But now, with near-limitless Stealth at his disposal, he simply chuckled under his breath and moved forward, his figure fading seamlessly into the dim cavern as he resumed his search for the other two.
’Hopefully... they’re still alive.’
