Chapter 46: Giving him the slave! to the next level

Moving a great distance away from the Awakeners Association, Oliver finally stopped in a narrow alleyway. The walls rose high on either side, trapping shadows between them, while the faint scent of damp concrete lingered in the air.

Now, with this distance, he was sure he had more than ten minutes before his shadow returned, assuming the clone was already dead.

He summoned his system.

[You have 250 karma points left]

[Life Worm is 60% refined]

"Another greedy bastard," Oliver grimaced.

At this point, the Life Worm had consumed maybe two thousand karma points or even more, using both what he originally had and everything he earned from hunting with Bai Mina.

At this rate, Oliver knew he had to gather more karma points.

"And I only have two hours to do that... or maybe less."

He summoned more status screens. Some displayed the usual information required to enter the game, while others flickered ominously with warning signs.

Oliver was left with no choice now. Since his shadow had been infiltrated, no matter where he went, it would find him. Especially his physical body.

Like a homing device.

So, he needed to disappear completely, both his mental and physical existence into the game.

[Are you sure you want to access Full Function?]

[Full Function: Entering the game with both your physical and mental body.]

[Warning: If you die in this state, even with life points remaining, your physical body will be permanently damaged. Your mental body, however, will continue to exist using remaining life points.]

A double-edged sword.

It allowed him to fully enter the game, but at the cost of possibly losing any chance of returning to reality.

"It’s a dangerous risk... one only Guild Owners, Sect Leaders, and top players take," Oliver sighed. "They can’t afford to leave their real bodies behind to be assassinated."

He paused briefly... then tapped the screen.

Accept.

[Integration has begun]

In a mere second, Oliver’s body began dissolving into particles of digital light. They shimmered faintly, breaking apart into fragments that slowly faded into the air.

There was no going back.

As his body crumbled into nothingness, a faint smile formed across his lips. A memory surfaced brief, distant, almost warm.

And then...

It vanished.

---

A bright light burst into existence, blinding, beautiful, and overwhelming, before fading just as quickly.

When it disappeared, the Crow stood in the middle of the bustling streets of Alkarya.

[You have successfully reached the Town]

[The System commends you for your audacity to attempt Full Function]

"Haha... how funny," he muttered sarcastically, swiping the notification away.

He began walking through the town. The streets were alive with movement, players rushing past, merchants shouting, distant sounds of clashing steel echoing faintly.

Some players waved at him as he passed.

Others greeted him enthusiastically.

A few even praised him for his hunt with Bai Mina—a story that had apparently already become headline news within the Town.

He simply waved and kept walking.

Eventually, he arrived at a familiar shop.

Leaning against the counter, he stood beside a few other players who were busy purchasing materials for their hunts.

"Good day, Lord Crow!" one of them greeted, trying and failing not to sound desperate. His face betrayed everything.

He wanted recognition. From the Crow, who was probably a symbol to him... How unfortunate.

Oliver simply nodded.

The other two weren’t nearly as restrained.

They immediately bombarded him with questions, about the hunt, about Bai Mina, about whether he had her contact both in-game and in real life... even whether they were dating.

While they talked, the shopkeeper, Jarvis Botswaner noticed the situation.

He burst into laughter.

Rushing over with the requested equipment, he shamelessly lingered nearby, clearly trying to listen in.

At times, he even added his own "details" to the story.

And by details...

Lies.

He claimed he saw Oliver and Bai Mina kissing the night they returned.

That alone ignited a wildfire.

The players’ eyes lit up, their grins widening with excitement over gossip that wasn’t even theirs to begin with.

’What a pain...’ Oliver grunted inwardly.

A few seconds later, they grabbed their items and left, already eager to spread the "news" as far as possible.

"Sheesh..." Oliver rubbed his forehead.

"Hahahaha! Man, you make my day every single time, Crow!" Jarvis laughed, slapping the counter repeatedly.

"Sure."

Oliver casually raised his hand and showed him his middle finger before dropping it back down.

"I’ll be leaving for the next level of the game for a few days."

Jarvis narrowed his eyes slightly, then chuckled.

"But you’re a Ranker... is that really okay? Why am I even asking? You’re the great Lord Crow. So—got anything to sell, or should I expect something big when you return?"

Oliver nodded.

"I’ll be back with materials. But I need you to watch over something for me."

Jarvis tilted his head, curious.

"And what would that—"

[Ding!]

As usual, Oliver didn’t bother asking.

He simply sent it.

Jarvis paused, then opened the notification.

His eyes widened instantly, so much it looked like they might fall out.

Then he slowly turned toward Oliver, his expression filled with confusion... and dread.

"What is this...?"

[You have been passed leadership of 3 slaves]

[You are now a Master]

[You have received a friend request from The Crow]

Oliver exhaled.

"I need you to control them while I’m gone. I also sent a friend request, use it if anything comes up."

Jarvis opened his mouth to protest.

But nothing came out.

’I can’t accept this...’

This wasn’t who he was.

This wasn’t something he wanted or could even handle. No! He could not.

He finally forced himself to speak—

Poof!

Oliver was gone.

At this, Jarvis blinked.

Once.

Twice.

He slowly turned his head left... then right...

Then groaned loudly.

"Uhhhh... fuck me."

---

Oliver moved away from the stall and toward the center of Alkarya.

And there it stood.

A massive blue portal, swirling violently like a vortex. Bright white streaks of light spiraled within it, crackling faintly like contained lightning.

Despite its importance, the area around it wasn’t crowded.

Only those Level 10 and above could use it.

This was the Travel Portal.

It allowed movement between the three safe zones of the first level...

Or access to the second level entirely.

[Ding!]

[Decoy Skill has been cancelled]

Oliver smiled—mischievously.

He could already imagine the expressions of those present when his clone vanished into smoke.

Then he turned back to the portal.

The shadow was coming.

Fast.

So he stepped forward.

By the time it would arrive...

He would already be gone.

And even if it crossed the portal...

Even if it followed him into the next level...

"If it does..." Oliver paused briefly.

"When it does..."

His smile darkened.

"I’ll give it the treatment traitors deserve."

With that—

He stepped into the swirling light.

And disappeared into the second level of the game.
