Chapter 1216: This Is the End

The Bald Blade Emperor stared at Ling Feng in shock. Only then did he notice Ling Feng sway slightly. A thin trail of blood slid down from Ling Feng's left eye.

The quarter-hour limit had already passed, but Ling Feng was forcing himself to continue. His entire left eye was burning hot, as if about to ignite. The Heavenly Dao Divine Inscription dispersed, and Reality Reversal naturally collapsed.

"Everyone move away!"

Ling Feng clutched his left eye and shouted at the top of his lungs.

"Huh?"

The Bald Blade Emperor froze for half a breath. A foul gust swept down from above.

Boom!

A deafening boom followed. His head exploded into pieces!

Shui Wuhen's pupils shrank. He melted into liquid and retreated as fast as he could.

Lan Yuhuang formed a hand seal. A cold glint flashed in her eyes. "Poison burst!"

Bang!

A muffled boom rang out. Dark green poison mist erupted across the monster's body. Flesh tore open and its skin turned into a mess of blood and poison.

Even so, the monster barely slowed. It let out a furious roar and charged directly toward her.

Its claws stretched forward. Three hideous green nails tore free from its fingers and shot toward Lan Yuhuang like lightning.

Lan Yuhuang's expression changed at once. She pulled out a small round shield and held it in front of herself.

However, the force behind those three nails was completely beyond Lan Yuhuang's expectations!

Her early-tier sacred artifact shield shattered instantly. Two of the nails bounced aside, but the last one punched straight through Lan Yuhuang's chest.

"Mhmm!"

Lan Yuhuang let out a muffled groan. Her chest was a bloody mess, and a burst of black qi spread from the wound. The demonic qi residue on the nail immediately began to corrode her body.

Ling Feng grabbed her and pulled her back, then placed the Vermilion-Eyed Ice Silkworm on her chest and shouted, "Shui Wuhen, attack now! The monster is blinded by poison, you can finish it!"

Shui Wuhen had already lost his nerve from the sudden turn of events.

The Bald Blade Emperor was killed, Lan Yuhuang was severely injured. Wouldn't he be next?

"No! I am not dying here! I am not dying!"

He no longer dared to attack. His figure flashed as he immediately made a dash for the rear cabin door and fled.

"Idiot!"

Ling Feng cursed under his breath. There were large numbers of demonic corpses outside, and even if he was lucky enough to avoid them, there was still the terrifying sword array beyond the cabin. Even if he ran, where could he possibly escape to?

Ultimately, all his efforts would only amount to moving his own grave!

At that moment, Lan Yuhuang was extremely weak and her consciousness was blurring. Ling Feng sighed softly and helped her to the side. He temporarily sealed her injuries with golden needles. Her survival, however, would still depend entirely on herself.

When everything was in place, Ling Feng finally turned to the monster. His voice sounded cold. "You refuse to attack me. Seems like you are confident that you can control me and remove the last seals?"

"Heh heh heh..."

A twisted laugh rose from the creature. Black smoke gathered above its head and formed a hideous face. "Human boy, your cultivation is low, but you stayed calmer than those Human Emperors!"

"Calmness comes from strength!"

Ling Feng smiled faintly. He looked steadier now than when he had three Human Emperor allies at his side.

"Strength?"

The creature burst into arrogant laughter. "Even the Human Emperor couldn't withstand a single blow from me. All your struggling together for so long has merely delayed your deaths slightly. I wonder what exactly is this 'strength' you speak of?"

"My patience is almost gone. Human, let me claim your mind and undo the final seal!"

Its eyes glowed with burning desire. "After so many ages, I can finally see daylight again!"

"Sorry. Your plan ends here!"

Ling Feng narrowed his eyes, and purple light flashed within them. Suddenly, a tear in space opened behind the monster, and a thick Void Tentacle shot out, binding the monster firmly.

"W-What is this?"

The monster trembled. "Void Eye? A talent of the Gulandor clan?"

"You know quite a bit!"

Ling Feng folded his arms across his chest and looked amused. "If you know the Void Eye, you should also know that high-tier devilkin can command lower-tier devilkin with ease. Do you still think you can control me?"

"That is impossible! The Void Eye of the Gulandor clan coming from a human?"

The monster stared at Ling Feng in disbelief. Its voice changed at once. "Since you possess the devilkin's Void Eye, you should help me escape this place. Let darkness cover the land again! Join me!"

"Heh, someone like you? You're not worthy!"

The Eradicator of Realms sword appeared in Ling Feng's hand. A cold light glimmered across the blade.

"Xiao Bai, finish it!"

"Yes, Master!"

The next moment, a white light flashed, and the sword soul Xiao Bai took human form. He glared at the creature with extreme disgust. He then immediately performed the Heaven-Slaying Sword Art, swiftly shredding the monster, bound by the Void Tentacles, into pieces.

"No! No!"

The monster howled as its black smoke scattered. Its essence was sucked into the glowing door covered in sealing inscriptions.

A hateful voice echoed from behind the door. "Human, I will return! I will take revenge!"

"Say that again when you actually get out!"

Ling Feng let out a cold laugh. He examined the dim sealing inscriptions, then used the replicating ability of the Heavenly Dao Eye to reinforce the five fading lines with elemental force.

"Damn it! What are you doing?"

The furious voice inside slowly weakened. As the seals strengthened, the monster lost all power to escape.

Another shrill cry came. "No! What have you done? Master, save me! Master—"

The demonic qi drained from Madam Zhuqu's body. Her limbs shrank and her features slowly returned to human form. The torn flesh on her body could not heal, and her vitality leaked away.

The monster had drained every last thread of her life force.

Ling Feng looked at her fading figure and let out a quiet sigh. "Madam Zhuqu, you are about to die. Are you still lost? Even if your husband returned to life, would he want to see a bloodstained monster in your place?"

"Was everything I dedicated myself to over all these years a mistake?

Tears streamed down her wrinkled face as she passed away.

Maybe she found clarity at the end. Maybe she remained lost. Perhaps in another world she would meet her beloved again.

"Even the hateful have their pitiful side!"

Ling Feng took a slow breath. He walked to Lan Yuhuang and checked her pulse. After a moment he showed a faint smile.

It seemed the woman had luck on her side. At the very least, she still had a chance to live.

(Author's note: Some readers might say Ling Feng betrayed his teammates. Here is a brief explanation: 1. Ling Feng did not want to expose his Void Eye, and he naturally cannot trust people like Shui Wuhen. 2. Shui Wuhen and the Bald Blade Emperor are not good people. Ling Feng never intended to save them anyway.)
