The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 517 - 518: What happened to Aiden Howard’s Disappearance?
Sienna Johnson walked out onto the lawn, furiously kicking at the grass. A knot of frustration tightened in her chest, a feeling she couldn’t vent.
Adrian Desmond approached, gently stopping Sienna’s childish outburst. "Don’t be upset," he said softly. "Madam Johnson will be fine."
Sienna retorted irritably, "Who said I was worrying about her? Which of your eyes saw me looking sad? Didn’t you hear what Samara said? That I’m cold-hearted and ungrateful? Madam Johnson condescended, and I was supposedly putting on airs, even showing my temper to her. Now, Madam Johnson’s fragile heart can’t take it, so she’s chosen to die..."
"Samara is just a child!"
"A child? A child? Ha ha..." Sienna laughed coldly.
Adrian stepped closer and pulled her into his arms. "Don’t be angry. If your anger affects our son, I won’t let you off easily."
Sienna swatted at him. "Your son, your son, that’s all you care about!"
He gently pinched her chin and pressed a kiss to her tightly pursed lips. "Our son is in my eyes," he murmured, "and you are in my heart."
"..."
"Alright, don’t be angry... Give Sixth Master some face, will you? Stop being angry, okay?"
"Adrian, I’m so upset..." Sienna hugged his waist, leaning completely into him. At this moment, only his embrace could offer her comfort.
"She’s out of danger now, isn’t she? Don’t worry anymore. And... Samara is just a child; don’t take her words to heart."
"That girl hates me now too."
"Your sister is very soft-natured. She might be angry with you today, but she’ll probably forget all about this in a couple of days."
Sienna’s mind was a whirl; she couldn’t think straight. "Do you think Madam Johnson tried to kill herself because I was so cold to her?"
"Probably not."
She looked up at him. "Why do you say that? If it wasn’t because of me, then what was the reason? I really don’t understand. The man who murdered my dad has been brought to justice, and the Johnson Family is doing better every day. Why would she try to commit suicide?"
"I don’t know why Madam Johnson suddenly decided to attempt suicide, but I’m sure it wasn’t because of you. Think about it—your relationship with Madam Johnson has been lukewarm for a long time. Why would she suddenly choose to end her life now?"
Sienna said, "Maybe she couldn’t stand my indifference any longer, so she decided to die."
"Don’t overthink it. Once Madam Johnson wakes up, we can ask her."
Sienna’s heart was heavy. "What if Madam Johnson really did it because of me? I can never bring myself to be close to her. Am I supposed to pretend to be close to her from now on?"
"You don’t have to force yourself."
Pauline Briggs was out of danger. Although Sienna still hadn’t figured out why Pauline had attempted suicide, she wasn’t as worried anymore.
As long as she’s alive, we can slowly try to talk sense into her.
If Pauline truly wanted to stage a scene of profound mother-daughter affection, Sienna figured she could play along for Dexter Johnson’s sake.
With Pauline out of immediate danger, Sienna’s thoughts turned to the fake Aiden Howard, a matter that concerned her even more.
She asked, "That Aiden Howard, how’s your investigation going? Is he the real Aiden or an impostor?"
"An impostor!"
Sienna’s heart sank, and a wave of anxiety washed over her. "So, what do you plan to do with that fake Aiden?"
Adrian’s expression turned grim. "He’s suddenly vanished!"
"What do you mean, suddenly vanished?" Confused, she looked at him. Adrian pulled her to sit beside him on a bench and explained, "When Brett Jacobs and I went to find him, he was already gone. We tried calling his phone, but it just showed as switched off. I took a strand of hair from Aiden’s pillow and sent it for testing. The results showed that the owner of that hair and Aiden’s biological sister shared no genetic similarities. Genetically speaking, they had no blood relationship..."
"..."
"The Aiden you encountered was a fake," Adrian said, his tone just as heavy.
"Then what about the real Aiden?"
Although Sienna didn’t particularly like the original Aiden Howard, she didn’t want anything bad to happen to him. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Adrian remained silent for a long moment. Seeing his expression, Sienna’s unease intensified.
Aiden was probably...
"Can we find out who that fake Aiden is? Is he still in Sileria City? What does he want, pretending to be Aiden?" Sienna asked anxiously.
"I don’t know."
Seeing Adrian’s grave expression, Sienna tried to comfort him. "No matter what he’s planning, I’ll just be extra careful. I refuse to believe that the two of us together can’t handle him... Even if Sixth Master doesn’t trust himself, you have to trust me."
Adrian chuckled at her words. "Yes, with my dear wife here, I don’t have to worry about a thing."
"Exactly! Don’t you know who I am? I’m smart and beautiful..."
She leaned into his embrace, inhaling his familiar scent. When had they started relying on each other so much?
Adrian gently stroked Sienna’s back. He was even more worried than she imagined. Aiden was probably in grave danger. What worried Adrian more was that this man had managed to eliminate Aiden without anyone noticing. Aiden, a former police officer, was by no means weak—he was a tough character. Yet, someone like him had been so easily dispatched. How could Adrian not be worried? If he were still the solitary man he once was, it wouldn’t be such a concern. But now, he had a wife and child. If the enemy got hold of them, they would have him by his Achilles’ heel. Who could it be?
"Sis..." Samara ran over hurriedly, grabbing Sienna. Sienna looked bewildered. "What’s wrong? Is Madam Johnson in danger again?"
"It’s not Mom who’s in danger, it’s you!" Samara cried.
"Me? What’s wrong with me?"
"I don’t have time to explain right now! You need to go, immediately! Don’t come back for the next couple of days. I’ll call you when it’s safe."
She’s telling me to run? But what on earth have I done that requires me to flee? It’s like the saying goes: the monk can run, but the temple can’t. If someone was determined to cause trouble for me, where could I possibly go with a family to consider?
Samara, despite her usual lack of strength, actually managed to pull Sienna to her feet. Pushing her from behind, she urged, "Hurry and go! If I don’t call you, don’t come back!"
"Samara, tell me what’s going on," Sienna insisted.
"I can’t explain clearly right now! Just go! If you don’t leave now, it’ll be too late..."
Sienna stood firm, resolute. She wouldn’t budge, no matter how her sister pushed. "Samara, I’m not leaving unless you tell me exactly what happened."
