Chapter 565: Chapter 606: The Traditional Dating Process

Sienna Johnson forced herself to stare at the movie screen, not allowing herself to look down. She’d heard that when watching horror movies, the worst thing to do was to watch a bit and then look away; apparently, they weren’t actually that scary. What truly terrified you was your own imagination. If you watched the entire thing without looking away, you’d realize it wasn’t so bad after all.

"It’s just a movie. Do you really have to be so headstrong?" Adrian Desmond was rather annoyed by this trait of Sienna’s.

The woman he desired should be gentler, weaker, content to hide behind him and manage the household, raising their children. Yet, this particular woman insisted on striving out in the world just like a man, attempting to stand on equal footing with them.

"I don’t want to have any weaknesses!"

"Everyone has weaknesses!"

"That’s why I have to work hard to overcome them!"

"We’re on a date, not here for you to overcome your weaknesses! Can you please stop ruining the mood?"

In the quiet theater, only the terrifying sound effects from the movie echoed in Sienna Johnson’s ears, amplified countless times. Still, Sienna found herself spooked by her own imagination, constantly worried that something would suddenly pop out from the row in front—perhaps a figure like Sadako from *The Ring* suddenly turning around...

"Let’s go." Adrian Desmond suddenly grasped Sienna Johnson’s hand. Startled by his touch, she broke out in a cold sweat.

"You scared me to death."

"We’re not watching anymore."

"Why stop all of a sudden?"

"Because I didn’t come here to watch you try to be brave!"

Sienna Johnson didn’t want to leave. She pulled Adrian Desmond back down. "We’ve already bought the tickets. Let’s finish it before we go."

Adrian Desmond was displeased, his face cold. He had brought her to a horror movie, not to help her train her courage. "My being here with you isn’t very effective. You’ll only get the real effect if you watch it alone." Saying this, he stood up to leave, but Sienna Johnson, naturally, wouldn’t let him.

"Don’t go! I think *The Ring* is actually quite interesting."

Afraid he might actually leave, Sienna Johnson sat on his lap, her entire back nestled against his warm chest. Though tall, she seemed almost petite compared to the towering Adrian Desmond.

"I’ll watch the movie; you can do naughty things to me..." Sienna Johnson said to the man, who had been behaving himself, her eyes still on the screen.

"What naughty things do you want me to do to you?"

"Stop playing innocent. Isn’t this what you were thinking before we even came?" She saw right through him. He’d gotten furious out of embarrassment earlier and wanted to leave, all because she hadn’t played along.

Childish!

"What was I thinking?" he feigned ignorance, his tone softening.

Sienna Johnson was wearing a loose-fitting maternity dress today. His hand slipped inside... Her attention instantly diverted, she said firmly, "No!"

"Isn’t this what men and women come to the movies for?"

In the dimly lit theater, women who had been screaming in fear moments ago were now locked in passionate kisses with their boyfriends. Sienna Johnson turned her head and saw Adrian Desmond’s eyes, as deep and dark as the Abyanabad ocean at night.

They sat in the back row, kissing quietly until the movie ended.

When they walked out of the cinema, both their complexions were a little flushed. Adrian Desmond’s eyes, in particular, shimmered like spring pools, threatening to drown her in their depths.

"Brother!"

When Bella Ford appeared before them, the fleeting romantic atmosphere instantly dissipated.

Adrian Desmond didn’t break stride, clearly intending to ignore her. Bella Ford, however, boldly hurried after them. Because Sienna Johnson was pregnant and couldn’t walk quickly, Bella still managed to catch up.

"Brother, I just want to say a few words. It won’t take up much of your time."

The bodyguard stepped forward and pulled her away. Ultimately, Adrian Desmond didn’t exchange a single word with Bella Ford.

Sienna Johnson could guess what Bella Ford wanted to say. Selfishly, she didn’t want Adrian Desmond to have too much contact with Melanie Carpenter.

Sienna Johnson had always been reluctant to return to Abyanabad because her memories of the place were far from pleasant. She had only just arrived and had already run into Bella Ford. Who knew how many more disagreeable people would pop up in the future?

But now that they were together, Sienna Johnson knew she couldn’t keep dwelling on the past. If she kept thinking about bygone matters—about Adrian Desmond and Melanie Carpenter’s messy history, about how he once wanted two women to serve him—she wouldn’t be able to continue her life with him. It would utterly destroy the relationship they had painstakingly managed to maintain, and then what would become of the children?

If she truly separated from Adrian Desmond, his personality was such that he would undoubtedly take the children, and he wouldn’t even grant her visitation rights.

When this man treated you well, he could pamper you to the heavens. When he treated you poorly, he could cast you into hell, making life worse than death. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Maintaining a marriage required turning a blind eye sometimes. She had to let go of the past and focus on how to live in the future. With this thought, Sienna Johnson proactively slipped her arm through the arm of the man beside her. Adrian Desmond, sensing her disquiet ever since she’d seen Bella Ford, tightened his grip on Sienna’s hand.

"I won’t speak to people you dislike," Adrian Desmond promised, noticing her apprehension and unhappiness.

"I don’t like Melanie Carpenter, and I don’t like Bella Ford either..." she confessed her feelings to him.

"I know all of that."

"And I don’t like those women who covet you..."

"I’m yours. No one can take me from you!"

"Tell me, apart from being handsome and having some money, you don’t really have any other outstanding qualities. So why do those women keep throwing themselves at you, one after another...?" Sienna Johnson grumbled.

"You’re still not satisfied with someone like me? What kind of man are you looking for, then?"

"He doesn’t need to be too handsome or too rich, just wholeheartedly devoted to me... And, crucially, no other women competing for him!"

Sienna Johnson’s fingers intertwined with Adrian Desmond’s. She took a few deep breaths, repeatedly telling herself what she needed to hold onto and what she needed to let go of. Whatever had happened in the past, at least Adrian’s kindness to her now was genuine and tangible.

Sienna Johnson squeezed Adrian Desmond’s hand tightly and whispered close to his ear, "Sixth Master, now that the movie’s over, what’s next on the agenda?"

"Getting a room!"

Sienna Johnson was speechless.

Adrian Desmond leaned close to Sienna Johnson’s ear and said in a suggestive tone, "I’ve already booked the hotel."

Sienna Johnson chuckled. "I didn’t expect you to be so well-prepared, Sixth Master."

"It’s peak tourist season. If you don’t book in advance, it’s hard to get a room," Adrian Desmond lied without batting an eye, not wanting Sienna Johnson to know that the Mandarin Hotel was his private property. He was planning to get up to mischief with her in his own hotel.

"Sixth Master, does the script have to be this cliché? Can’t we do something more meaningful?"

"...Whether it’s men and women dating, eating out, or watching movies, isn’t the ultimate goal always to get the woman into bed?" Adrian Desmond stated bluntly.

"Go to hell!"

"Could you bear to?"

"I could! And you can die far away from me!"

"Fine, we’ll go together!"

"Who wants to go with you!"
