The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 622 - 663: Boarded the Wrong Car
"Sixth Master, you’re still injured. Take a break for a while. We’ll definitely find Madam."
"..."
"Madam is a very rational person. Maybe, after a while, she’ll come back by herself."
Adrian Desmond stood there, looking defeated, and asked, "Walter, what do you think she’s really angry about? I’ve already apologized. Why is she still upset with me?"
"Sixth Master, Madam is just too worried about you. She went to Sea View Residence to find you today. Seeing you injured, she was so worried. There is no one in this world who cares about you more than Madam. I think the reason Madam is so angry is that you don’t cherish your own life."
Adrian was somewhat confused. "What do you mean?"
"Sixth Master, try to put yourself in her shoes. If today you and Madam switched places, with Madam as you and you as Madam, what would you do?"
"I would kill the person who hurt her!"
"Madam’s feelings must be the same as yours!"
"..."
"Sixth Master, I’ll go find her."
Walter looked at the man who seemed to have taken his words to heart and felt relieved. The two of them absolutely mustn’t keep arguing. When they quarreled, it affected everyone around them.
...
Sienna Johnson wasn’t getting into someone else’s car, but the car of Javier Jervois, whom she had met earlier that day.
In that moment, she felt so angry and her mind was so clouded that all she wanted to do was escape from Adrian. So she impulsively got into Javier’s car. But once inside, Sienna started to regret her decision.
She didn’t know much about this man, Javier Jervois. If he harbored any ill intentions toward her, she would be in danger.
The only comforting thought for Sienna was that she had many bodyguards hidden around her. If she was in any danger, they would come out to protect her.
"Did you have a fight with your husband?" The bespectacled man spoke with a gentle smile, like an older brother concerned for her.
It wasn’t appropriate to reveal family troubles to others. Sienna felt a bit embarrassed and simply mumbled, "Uh-huh," not saying anything more.
"Can I know why you two fought?"
She replied vaguely, "Sometimes couples fight for no reason; they just want to argue. Arguing is just one way of communication between spouses."
"When you say things like that, you sound like a love expert."
"Just sharing my experience."
"Duly noted!"
"You’re too kind!"
Javier looked at the woman who still seemed very wary of him and felt somewhat helpless. He wasn’t sure what he had to do to walk into her heart. He was determined not only to get into her heart but also to drive Adrian out of it.
Javier looked at his reflection in the car window and smiled. What an interesting challenge! This woman had made his dull life interesting again.
"Where are you taking me?"
Sienna looked at the unfamiliar streets outside the car window, feeling flustered. This lack of control was a terrible feeling.
"To the pier."
Sienna clutched her hands tightly and asked in a tense voice, "What are we going to do at the pier?"
"Take you out to sea to watch the stars?"
"Thank you for your kind intentions, but I’m tired. If it’s convenient for you, please take me to a hotel to rest. If it’s not, just drop me off by the roadside, and I’ll take a taxi to the hotel myself."
Javier laughed. "If you go to the hotel, that man will find you very quickly! Since you want to avoid him, you might as well come with me."
"I want to go to the hotel!"
"You’re not being very obedient!" His tone was like that of someone talking to their own little girlfriend. Sienna felt increasingly annoyed and regretful for rashly getting into this man’s car.
"Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you."
"Mr. Jervois, you’re jesting. How could you possibly hurt me?"
"A smart woman indeed. You know how to flatter."
The car sped along as Sienna turned to look at the view outside the window, her heart filled with trepidation. She had never felt secure in Abyanabad. When she was with Adrian, she felt somewhat better, but away from him, this insecurity was infinitely magnified.
He won’t be able to find me; he must be furious...
Sienna didn’t regret arguing with him because she didn’t want to see that man standing there foolishly, beaten half to death again. That kind of guilt toward the Carpenter Family was unacceptable! Melanie Carpenter and her father were relentlessly aggressive. If Adrian didn’t change his ways, he would eventually be dragged down to his death by the two of them. Also, there was something very suspicious about Elliot Carpenter. He had been dead for over twenty years and suddenly came back to life. Sienna always felt there was something strange about it. He claimed to have been in a vegetative state, but where had he been living all these years? Who was taking care of him? Elliot Carpenter’s daughter was still alive, so why didn’t the people responsible for him hand the vegetative Elliot over to Melanie?
Her hand rested on her lower abdomen; the child had finally quieted down.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Abyanabad is beautiful..."
"Not as beautiful as you!"
Sienna: ...
After that, Sienna wisely chose to keep her mouth shut, afraid she might hear something even more shocking from him and be startled.
Her phone, whether broken or for some other reason, had no signal and could only be used to check the time.
"Can I borrow your phone to call my husband?" Sienna asked.
"I remember you two just had a fight," he reminded her.
"Mr. Jervois, you must be unmarried and don’t understand how couples interact. When spouses quarrel, there’s no such thing as an overnight grudge."
"But it’s not even dawn yet; the grudge is still there."
Sienna realized their ways of thinking were not on the same wavelength, making communication difficult.
The car stopped at the pier. Sienna hesitated to get out.
Javier bent down at the car door, looking at the woman inside, and smiled gently. "I won’t eat you. Can you please not be so afraid of me?"
"Your actions are frightening me."
"What are you scared of?"
"We just met today, merely as business partners, yet your interest in me is a bit too strong. Now you want to take me out to sea. I’m very scared." Sienna looked directly into the man’s eyes, not missing any subtle expression on his face.
"I swear on my deceased father that I will absolutely not hurt you. With that said, can you get out of the car now?"
Sienna got out of the car. Javier took her hand. Sienna tried to pull her hand away but couldn’t.
"I don’t know what it is about me, a pregnant woman, that has attracted you so much."
"If you divorce your husband, I don’t mind being the father of the child in your belly!"
Sienna firmly rejected him, "I’m sorry, my child already has a father. His father is Adrian Desmond!" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"Is that so?"
He led her by the hand towards the pier. Sienna pressed the preset speed dial key on her phone; speed dial 1 was Adrian’s number.
This man, immature and petty, wants to be number one in Sienna’s heart—even when it comes to her phone’s speed dial settings.
