The CEO's Seductive Doll-Chapter 115: The Doll’s First Day at Work
"Well then," Evan said, extending his hand for a handshake. "Welcome to Royal Blue, Miss Doll."
Eternity took his hand and shook it. She was a little agitated because she wasn’t accustomed to his professionalism.
But she knew this was all theatrics.
Once they were done, Evan then glanced at the other new recruits, who were eyeing them with wide eyes.
He wasn’t sure if it was because they were surprised that he was a lot friendlier than they thought (he wasn’t), or they were just awestruck to see two conventionally attractive people (he proudly consider him as such) interacting.
"And to all of you," Evan nodded at them in acknowledgment. "As the CEO of this company, I welcome you all."
The new hires responded with uncoordinated "thank you’s." Still, it was evident in their tone that they were all appreciative of the CEO’s simple gesture.
Evan shifted his gaze to Jakob, only to scowl again the moment he saw Jakob’s expression.
"What’s with that face?" He snarled.
"O-oh," Jakob stammered. "Sorry, I’m just genuinely in disbelief at how different you treated the new hires now compared to how you treated me when I was in the same shoes as them."
Evan didn’t say anything about his colleague’s observation. Instead, he waved his hand in dismissal as he turned his heels.
"I’ll leave them up to you, Jakob."
Without waiting for a response, Evan walked down the hallway, the heels of his expensive leather shoes clicking on the tiled floor. In a matter of a minute, he was gone from sight.
Jakob sighed heavily, shaking his head as he muttered under his breath.
"I guess he still treats me the same."
Before Eternity could ask what he meant by that, Jakob turned around to face the group behind him, flashing a wide, cheerful smile as if nothing peculiar had happened.
"Let’s proceed to your orientation. Oh, and you, Miss Doll." He looked at Eternity and spoke in an upbeat tone, which she will later know as his default tone. "You’re also coming with us."
***
"Hey," a voice whispered. "Hey, I said!"
All the new hires were now inside the conference room, sitting on their respective chairs depending on what division they were assigned to.
Directly in the middle and front of the room, a woman was standing and presenting on a projector screen a PowerPoint presentation, welcoming them to Royal Blue and giving some do’s and don’ts on what they should do in the company.
She introduced herself as "Katie" before the start of the presentation. She was probably one of those human resource staff members that Eternity read about when she was researching the structure of RBAB’s workforce.
"Hey!" The voice continued. "You with the red hair!"
Eternity was sitting in the middle row. This was the portion of the seating arrangement assigned for those working under the executive branch of the company, which means they’ll be working directly under Evan.
Evan said he’d assign her as his personal secretary, and Eternity did some research on the internet on what secretaries do. She technically didn’t need to do that since she’ll be analyzing the office and will consequently learn about everything a secretary does the moment she sets foot inside the office.
Of course, this 𝘥𝘪𝘥 happen the moment she arrived. Not only did she learn about what a secretary’s work entailed, but she also learned about the function of every position in the company.
Still, Eternity intently listened to the presentation, but the persistent voice was ruining her concentration.
She looked to her right and saw someone motioning to look at him. He was just a few seats away from her.
This man had an appearance that people would typically call "baby-faced." He looked younger, even younger than the other hires, who Eternity was sure were fresh graduates.
Even though he was wearing an office suit, because of his young looks, he looked as if he were a kid playing pretend.
But Eternity thought he might be aware of this because this man still tried his best to look mature.
He slicked his hair backward. There were no lost strands of hair that could’ve ruined the "professional" look he was going for. His eyes matched his hair, a brown shade that was so dark it was almost black.
She could see from afar that his face was subtly covered with makeup, and his lips were slightly tainted with lipstick.
"Yes!" He said it excitedly, his voice with a hint of flamboyance. "Yes, you!"
Eternity pointed at herself, just to be extra sure so she wouldn’t accidentally make a fool of herself. But then again, she was the only redhead in the room, so there was no denying that the chances of her being the one called were 100 percent.
The baby-faced man nodded eagerly, flashing a set of teeth so perfect they couldn’t possibly be anything but veneers.
"Miss Doll, right?" He said this before offering his hand out to her. Due to the presence of two other people in between them, he made more effort just to extend his hand to her. "I’m—"
"You two," Katie, the woman presenting in front, exclaimed sharply as she pointed in their direction. "Stop your whispering."
The guy pulled his hand away quickly, as if he were scalded by hot water. He sat primly on his seat and lowered his head in embarrassment. Meanwhile, every single person in the room was now looking at them, probably intrigued that someone got called out on their first day of work.
In that moment, Eternity wanted the ground to magically open up and eat her alive.
Katie sighed and began speaking to the whole batch.
"I know you’re all excited to get to know your colleagues, but you can introduce yourselves to each other later after the orientation."
"Yes, Ma’am." Eternity said, although she was absolutely sure Katie didn’t hear her since she was far from the front.
But it seemed like she did because Eternity could see Katie smiling faintly.
"Anyway," The HR staff said, quickly dismissing the interruption. "Let’s continue with the presentation."
Eternity returned her attention to Katie, not wanting to get in trouble again. It would be embarrassing if this reached Evan’s ears that she was causing trouble on her first day at RBAB.
But in her peripheral vision, Eternity could see the man still motioning at her to look.
With an exasperated sigh, she looked at him.
The man grinned and started mouthing something. Eternity wasn’t a good mouth reader, but she could slightly make sense of what he was saying.
’Let’s talk later.’
