Chapter 128: Being Two-Faced is a Trademark of the Royall-Holz Family

Evan raised an eyebrow, resting his back on the backrest of his office chair.

"You’re finally going to Manika?" he repeated. "Haven’t you told me this before?"

"What I told you before was that I had plans of going there," Freiheit corrected. "Now I’m actually planning to go there today."

"Well, what took you so long?" Evan joked, but his brother didn’t seem to get the memo that he was.

"It took me a while to remember—I had to retrace my steps just so I could remember how to get there," he explained unnecessarily. "They’re not exactly accessible for everyone to visit, Evan."

"Ah, it’s a magical island after all." Evan said sarcastically.

This time, it didn’t go unnoticed by Freiheit.

"You literally fuck a sex doll that becomes alive," he pointed out harshly. "Why does it sound unbelievable to you that the travel to go there could actually be magical as well?"

"Don’t call Eternity a ’sex doll,’" Evan hissed, like a snake that could spit venom.

Freiheit sighed, shaking his head in disbelief.

"I see that you’ve already started to humanize her as well."

"But she is a human!" Evan suddenly spoke in a volume that was a bit too loud, it was almost at the level of what anyone would call ’shouting.’

Realizing what he had just done and that he was quickly losing his cool, Evan continued speaking but with a more hushed voice this time. "She looks like one, acts like one, and—"

"—Is fuelled by semen." Freiheit practically spat out. "She probably doesn’t defecate either, does she?"

Evan scowled, tensing on his chair.

"Don’t be disgusting."

"Which statement specifically was I being disgusting?" Freiheit smirked. "Aren’t I just stating facts?"

The CEO rolled his eyes and propped his arms to his chest. "What did Eternity do to you to merit this kind of treatment?"

"She didn’t do anything to me," Freiheit leaned closer to the table, pointing his index finger accusingly at Evan. "But I know she did something to you."

"Yes, she did do something to me," Evan admitted. "But everyone has been saying I’ve changed for the better—"

"I also heard that," Freiheit said impatiently. "Actually, before I arrived here, I heard some of your workers gossiping about how different you’ve been acting, and they meant it in a positive light."

"But?" Evan pressed. "Certainly, there’s a ’but’ there somewhere, right?"

"But," Freiheit continued. "have you seen yourself in the mirror, lately?"

Evan furrowed his eyebrows together, not knowing whether he should laugh or scoff at what his brother just said.

"I know you’re the conventionally attractive guy between us, brother, with your ’dazzling blue eyes’ and ’soft, silky blond hair," He emphasized the words just to make fun of Freiheit, this didn’t go unnoticed by his brother because he rolled his eyes. "In fact, you could’ve been the protagonist of a romance movie if you ever decided to be an actor. Still,"

Evan placed an offended hand on his chest, and the expression on his face looked genuinely hurt.

"Don’t you think it’s a bit too much to imply I’ve gotten ugly?"

"I’m not saying that you’ve gotten ugly," Freiheit clarified, slamming his hands on the CEO’s table, causing the office stationery to rattle on top of it. "I’m saying you look older."

"Excuse me?" He gasped. "What do you mean I’ve gotten older?"

"I don’t need to explain that," Freiehit huffed, crossing his arms to his chest. "You think I didn’t see the strands of white on your head? Each time I visit you, they continue to increase in number!"

Evan consciously ran his fingers on his hair, as if this would make the white strands disappear.

"They’re not that bad..." he mumbled weakly.

"They are, Evan," Freiheit said bluntly. "I wouldn’t be surprised if, by the time I’ve come back from my trip, all your hair would’ve turned white!"

Evan didn’t say anything, but he continued to scowl at Freiheit. Under his table, his hands were balled into a tight fist.

"That’s why I asked you if you’ve seen yourself in the mirror lately." Freiheit said pointedly.

Evan didn’t consider himself much of a vain man. At least, not as much as Freiheit. Although he did admit that he took care of himself more than a regular man would. He practiced basic skin care, which consisted of moisturizer and sunblock. It was the bare minimum for a girl’s standard of skincare, but it looked like it worked on Evan.

Until recently.

But he would be lying if he didn’t notice the wrinkles forming on his forehead and the white strands of hair that kept sprouting on his head like a persistent weed in a garden.

Suddenly, a realization hit Evan.

"What does this have to do with Eternity?" he asked, raising an eyebrow of confusion at his brother.

Freheit’s expression darkened.

"That’s what I’m planning to investigate."

Evan gave him an even more perplexed look. "What does that even supposed to mean?"

"What I’m trying to say is--"

Before Freiheit could finish his sentence, a loud knock on the door interrupted him.

"Sir Holz?" A sweet feminine voice called out from behind the glass. "I’m done with my lunch break. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to call me. I’ll be waiting on my table."

Upon hearing the familiar voice, Freiheit’s expression changed from utter seriousness to his usual grinning and charming self. He spun around and headed towards the door.

"Eternity!" He called out as he opened the door to Evan’s office. "Come in!"

Evan glared at Freiheit, but since the person being led inside was none other than his seductive doll, he didn’t say anything.

"Freiheit?" Eternity exclaimed in glee as she was ushered inside the room. The artist was towering behind her. "When did you get here?"

"Just a few minutes ago," Freiheit said, grinning widely. "How have you been, Eternity?"

"Well, to be honest..." Eternity began droning on about how life had been treating her.

Freiheit nodded intensely as he listened to her.

Evan continued to watch them in silence, trying his best to hide his disbelief at the fact that just a minute ago, Freiheit was talking badly of Eternity. But now they’re talking to each other like they’re best friends!

’What a two-faced bastard,’ Evan thought.

Just like a certain someone.
