Chapter 129: Quality Time is the Owner’s Love Language

"I’ll see you in a month or so, brother," Freiheit said, peeking his head out from the glass door of the CEO’s office. He then shifted his gaze to Eternity and said, "You too, Eternity."

He gave her a playful wink, causing the doll to giggle at his antics.

"I’m glad to see you again, Freiheit, and see you in a month or so!" Eternity said cheerfully. "Please take care on your trip, Freiheit!"

"Just go away already," Evan groaned, burying his face in his hands as if his adopted brother would disappear physically if his eyes weren’t there to see him.

In contrast with Eternity’s amiability to Freiheit, Evan had been bottling up his irritation with his brother ever since he implied that Eternity was doing ’something’ to him. The nature of that ’something’ was still unverified, but still, it made Evan immensely pissed off at how Freiheit was talking about Eternity in such a negative light.

"I’m going, I’m going!" Freiheit chuckled as he retreated his head.

Soon enough, his silhouette could no longer be seen behind the tinted glass walls of the CEO’s office. They heard a series of footsteps,, but soon, they became muffled until it disappeared or became inaudible completely.

Once they were absolutely sure that Freiheit was gone, then did it dawn upon Eternity.

"Oh, I forgot to ask where he was going this time!"

Evan opened his mouth and was about to tell her Freiheit was going to Manika, but he held his tongue.

"God knows where," he said in a disinterested tone instead.

For some reason, he had a feeling inside his gut that told him not to tell Eternity about what they had just talked about prior to her arrival.

It wasn’t because he was keeping a ’bro code’ (whatever the hell that even meant) or because Evan didn’t want to hurt Eternity’s feelings either. He just had a feeling that this should be kept a secret, even without Freiheit telling him that it was.

"So," Eternity drawled once she was sure that they were alone. "When are we planning to try again?" 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Evan furrowed his eyebrows together and looked at her in confusion.

"Try what again?" he asked, wondering if this was still connected to Freiheit or a different topic altogether.

"Office sex," she replied bluntly, causing Evan to feel a rush of heat on his cheeks and cough at nothing in particular.

Eternity hurriedly grabbed an empty cup on Evan’s table and refilled it with cold water using the water dispenser inside his office. She handed the cup, and Evan chugged it down in one gulp, sighing as he emptied it ’til the last drop.

"Are you okay?" She asked worriedly.

Instead of answering her question, he reprimanded her.

"You shouldn’t be saying things like that out loud, Eternity," Evan reminded her, his voice low in embarrassment. "We don’t want our colleagues to get any weird ideas about us."

Eternity lowered her head sheepishly and nodded. "Sorry about that. I completely forgot that your room isn’t soundproof."

Seeing that she was genuinely repenting for her mistake, Evan shook his head in dismissal.

"No worries, just be more mindful next time."

He then gestured at the stack of documents on his table, changing the topic.

"Can you sort these out for me?"

Meekly, Eternity nodded and took a portion of the stack, placing it on the coffee table in front of the sofa. She sat down and began her task, sifting through the papers with remarkable speed.

They were silent for quite some time. Their concentration was so intense and fragile that one slight sound could ruin it.

But even if she knew this, Eternity spoke after setting down one last folder, finishing her fill of the documents.

"You know, Evan," she said, her voice softer this time so no one else could hear. "I could do the tasks you’re giving me on my table."

"And your point being?" Evan raised an eyebrow, lowering the folder he had been focused on.

"Not much, really," Eternity chuckled. "I just don’t see the need for me to go here all the time if I could do this in the comforts of my personal table. Unless, of course..."

She took a pregnant pause, looking up from her documents to look at Evan straight in the eyes.

"You just want to spend time with me."

Evan scoffed, but his cheeks, which were turning red, betrayed his attempt to act all nonchalant about it.

"Awwww," Eternity gushed, her eyes sparkling teasingly. "You’re acting all shy about it!"

"Shut up!" He snapped, but his face was becoming redder and redder the more she teased him.

"I guess your love language is quality time?" She pressed, standing up from the sofa and lifting up the documents without even the slightest indication that she found the papers heavy.

She headed to his table and settled them down on Evan’s desk, causing it to rattle at the sheer weight of all the papers. Evan felt a sweat drop on his face as he glanced at the paper and then at Eternity.

Even though he had been aware of Eternity’s superstrength for quite some time now, it never ceased to amaze him whenever she presented her prowess.

"You couldn’t exactly call ’sitting in silence together and doing your respective jobs’ as ’quality time,’" he said once he got over his amazement at her strength.

"I think it is!" Eternity insisted, grabbing the other half of the pile of documents from Evan’s table. "As long as I’m near you, I think I can consider it as ’spending time with you’!"

She then turned around, her back was facing Evan, as she walked back to the sofa. Because of this, she didn’t see the small smile that uncharacteristically formed on Evan’s lips.

The wholesomeness of what he had just heard made his heart, which was made of ice, melt.

Once she turned around to sit on the sofa, Evan quickly covered his hand with his mouth. Although he made sure to do it casually so Eternity wouldn’t be suspicious.

"Even if we’re not talking?" he asked.

"Even if we’re not talking," Eternity confirmed.
