The CEO's Seductive Doll-Chapter 45: Hell Hath No Fury Like a Doll Scorned
It was already nighttime when Cynthia came out of her room.
Eternity knew this because she could hear Cynthia slamming the door open to a deafening degree.
It was borderline obnoxious.
Well, it wasn’t borderline.
It really was.
But perhaps Eternity just disliked Evan’s sister to the point where everything Cynthia did seemed irritating to Eternity.
One might think that Eternity’s annoyance toward Cynthia was unwarranted and seemed like something petty.
But maybe it actually was.
Either way, it left a bad taste in Eternity’s mouth, knowing that Cynthia deceived her by acting as if she liked Eternity.
It simply did not sit well with the doll that Cynthia believed Eternity was merely a hired girlfriend that Evan had paid for the entire time they were "bonding."
Well, Eternity knew that they were also lying in front of Cynthia about their relationship history and Eternity’s identity as a whole... But still! At least Eternity wasn’t faking it that she liked Cynthia! She genuinely did!
Not until Eternity heard Cynthia’s accusations, though.
Oh, how much it made the doll’s blood boil!
And Eternity didn’t even know she could feel such emotions (much less the concept of boiling blood)! In another irony, she talked with Evan about having mixed feelings before.
But now that Eternity was the one experiencing it, it made her realize that it was a lot easier said than done.
What a hypocrite Eternity was!
Anyway, going back to Cynthia, she went out of her room.
Her slippers made loud tapping sounds as she walked in the hallway.
Eternity couldn’t help but ask herself, ’How could someone so small make such a significant amount of ruckus?’
Eternity, being the curious doll that she was, couldn’t help but go out of her own bedroom to check on Cynthia (and why she needed to announce with her footsteps that she was going out).
As soon as Eternity arrived at the end of the short hallway, she saw Cynthia rummaging through the refrigerator in the kitchen-dining room.
Eternity raised an eyebrow at the sight before her. She wasn’t a real human, and the concept of human manners was foreign to her, but she was absolutely sure that it was ill-mannered for a guest to be ransacking other people’s food.
"Oh!" Cynthia exclaimed as she grabbed the yogurt inside and slammed the refrigerator door shut before turning to face Eternity. "Hey, Eternity!"
Eternity didn’t reply to her; instead, she came to the sudden realization that Cynthia was doing it on purpose to be as loud as possible.
"What’s with the judgmental look?" Cynthia frowned as she removed the lid of the yogurt and began slurping on it.
It made her cringe.
After she finished the yogurt in less than a minute, leaving a mustache on her upper lip, Cynthia spoke. "I’m a big girl, Eternity. You think these fats just formed on their own?"
"Technically," Eternity said. "It’s natural for humans to have fat in their bodies to maintain homeostasis."
Cynthia raised an eyebrow at her, though she looked quite impressed. But not for the right reasons.
Eternity scowled, an expression that was foreign to her usually gentle face.
’Does she think I’m stupid?’ Eternity thought to herself.
"I mean," Cynthia said, taking the bag of potato chips that was idly sitting on the bottom of the pantry. "The reason why you have so much food in your fridge is because you prepared for a guest: me."
Eternity cleared her throat and began thinking carefully about how she could say her next set of words without saying directly to Cynthia’s face that she was being an entitled piece of shit.
"Not exactly," Eternity said. "Freiheit visited us not too long ago so Evan decided to buy some groceries so—"
"Freiheit?!" Cynthia exclaimed. "He’s in the country right now?"
"I think so." Eternity frowned, trying her best not to show it on her face that she was offended that she wasn’t even given the chance to finish her sentence. "It’s literally been just a few days after all."
"That idiot!" Cynthia placed her hands on her hips, pouting. "He didn’t even tell me that he was coming back!"
"Do you miss him?" Eternity asked.
"Of course, I do!" Cynthia chuckled as she ripped the plastic container of the chips without any hint of grace. "Don’t tell Evan, but I consider Freiheit to be my closer brother."
Cynthia picked up some chips from the plastic and ate them loudly. Her munching was so irritating Eternity visibly winced.
But Eternity internally shook her head and decided that it was best if they continued their conversation without showing any hint of disgust.
"Even though Evan is your blood-related brother?" Eternity pointed out.
Her icy-blue eyes widened, and Cynthia looked at her with very confused eyes.
’Ah,’ Eternity wanted to narrow her eyes. ’She thought I was just some paid whore, after all. She obviously didn’t expect me to know such personal details.’
"Uhm," Cynthia laughed nervously, trying to hide her initial expression at the question hurled at her. "Yeah, Freiheit spoils me more than Evan does. Of course, I love Evan more."
Eternity raised an eyebrow at her. "Is that so?"
Cynthia nodded eagerly.
"I’m a self-proclaimed brocon, after all!"
"Brocon?"
"Brother’s complex."
Cynthia scratched the side of her face, not feeling embarrassed at her proclamation but finally feeling embarrassed now that she had to explain it.
"You know, it’s when you—"
"Ah!" Eternity gasped dramatically, surprising Cynthia so much that she almost dropped her potato chip. "Like the Oedipus and Elektra complex?"
Cynthia nodded.
"But of course, not the fucking part." She clarified in case Eternity might get the wrong idea.
"I see," Eternity hummed. "So Freiheit is a siscon, then? Short for sister’s complex?"
Cynthia was about to answer but was interrupted when Eternity added.
"But with the fucking part."
Cynthia choked on her potato chip.
Eternity immediately went to the glass rack and took a glass, then proceeded to fill it with water before handing it to Cynthia.
Cynthia took it and gulped the drink in one go. Once she gathered her bearings, she literally shouted, "Where the fuck did you get that?!"
Eternity shrugged.
"It’s not like you’re blood-related, so it’s not considered incest."
"Don’t be disgusting," Cynthia scoffed. Her voice was filled with venom. "I love Freiheit, but I would never think of him in that regard."
"Yes, but you could think of me as a girlfriend-for-rent, huh?"
Her moss-green eyes widened. Eternity couldn’t believe that she let that out. She looked away in shame, biting her lips while her cheeks turned a pink hue.
Cynthia’s friendly demeanor practically vanished, and hostility took its place right away. She looked at Eternity with her icy-blue eyes, which were now cold and harsh, and a bored expression on her face.
"So you were listening," She clicked her tongue, her tone oozing with annoyance.
She still had a yogurt mustache on her upper lip all this time.
