The CEO's Seductive Doll-Chapter 64: Keeping the Doll Company
"What do youβ" Evan tried to speak, but Eternity returned, holding a tray with a teapot and some cups. "Thank you, Eternity." ππ£ππ²π°πππ§π π§ππ.πππΊ
Eternity gave him a quick smile before placing the tea set on the coffee table.
"Would you like me to pour you some tea?" Eternity offered.
"Iβll pour myself some later," Evan replied dismissively. "Thank you, though."
Eternity nodded at him before turning her gaze to Edelweiss. "How about you, Miss Roth?"
"Please do," she said, and Eternity began pouring her some tea. "Thank you, Miss Doll."
Once Eternity was done, she gave both of them a half-hearted smile and said, "If ever you need me, just call me," and left the room.
Once she disappeared from sight, Edelweiss leaned closer and spoke in a hushed voice.
"She literally looks like a younger version of me," she pointed out. "I mean, I know Iβm hard to forget, but you couldβve been more subtle, Evan."
He raised an eyebrow at her, unamused by the confidence in her words. "I think youβve been greatly mistaken. That or youβre just self-absorbed."
At this point, women would recoil from him the moment Evan started spitting venom. But
Edelweiss seemed unfazed and began to blow at her hot tea.
"I was just kidding," she merely said, sipping.
"That was an unfunny joke," Evan said, rolling his eyes. "This is why women arenβt born for comedy."
Edelweiss knitted her eyebrows together, wrinkling her forehead.
"I see youβre still as misogynistic as you were when we were much younger."
"And youβre a thirty-year-old clinging on to your high school prime." He retorted.
Edelweiss only laughed, shaking her head.
"Maybe I am." She spoke haughtily.
"You are."
"But Iβm not the one dating a woman who looked like me during my prime, right?" she shot back.
Evan scoffed, shifting uncomfortably in his seat. βHow is this woman making me uncomfortable at my own home?!β
"Look, Miss Rothβ"
"βEdelweiss,β" she corrected. "Come on now. Donβt act so distant. Weβre alone now."
"Miss Roth," he persisted, causing Edelweiss to let out a huff.
He wasnβt sure if it was because she burned her tongue or because she was merely annoyed at him.
"I donβt know if you took Freiheitβs words too seriously that I am hopelessly in love with youβtruth to be told, I was," Evan finally admitted. "But I was just a high schooler who went with the flow and joined the bandwagon of finding cheerleaders and popular kids attractive. Nothing more."
He began pouring himself some tea, adding a few cubes of sugar to the mix. Edelweiss raised an eyebrow but didnβt question his weird tea preferences.
"And if you think Iβm so hung up on you that I intentionally chose to date a woman just because she looks like you, my, how shallow do you think I am?"
Edelweiss continued sipping on her tea before speaking.
"Well, Miss Doll, are you satisfied?"
"Eep!" Eternity jumped and unintentionally revealed herself standing near the living room.
Evan gave his doll a glance before returning his gaze to Edelweiss. "Was this...?"
"An attempt to calm down your girlfriend and stop her from being jealous of me." She replied in a matter-of-fact tone. "Is everything clear to you now, Miss Doll?"
Her moss-green eyes widened, and she hesitantly bobbed her head.
"Y-yes."
She hummed. "Good."
"That was all an act?!" Evan shouted, slamming his fist on the table.
"UhβYes?" Edelweiss spoke in a tone as if this were supposed to be obvious. "I told you, I just wanted to appease Miss Doll here. After all, sheβs been giving me a death stare the moment she laid eyes on me!"
"Butβ" Evan tried to argue, but he was so bamboozled by what happened that his brain wouldnβt cooperate. "But you said, to keep you company for the nightβ"
"Oh, Evan!" Edelweiss burst out laughing, making him more confused than ever. "You mustβve misunderstood me! I told you, youβre like a little brother to me."
"Little brother..." He repeated it unsurely.
"The notion of asking you out to βkeep me companyβ in the way that youβre thinking of is something I would never do in my whole life!" She continued, though she barely got it out because she was barely holding on to her cackles.
"Then whatβs the reason for your visit?" Evan demanded.
"Simple," Edelweiss giggled. "I want to keep your doll company!"
There was a pregnant pause.
"WHAT?!"
***
"So to cut the long story short," Evan took a long exhale, trying his best to summarize what he had just heard. "When you asked for my address from Freiheit, he gave it to you, and as payment to him, he instructed you to befriend Eternity and to keep her company on your brief stay here in Berlin. "
"Yup! And whatβs the easiest way to befriend and win a girlβs heart? Assuring her that Iβm not an enemy that would steal his man!" Edelweiss nodded before shifting her eyes to Eternity, who was now sitting beside her on the sofa. "It worked, didnβt it?"
Eternity smiled shyly, looking at the carpeted floor to avoid the brown and blue eyes currently eyeing her in interest.
Edelweiss grinned at her before turning back to Evan. "Freiheit told me that Miss Doll isnβt from this country, and everything here is unfamiliar to her. Andβyou know, Evan?"
She suddenly paused, as if something just popped inside her mind.
"I know youβre afraid of her getting kidnapped because of your relationship with her, but she wonβt get to enjoy the whole experience of immigration if you wonβt let her out of her new home!"
βAt least Freiheit didnβt make me sound like I locked up Eternity in my apartment for no good reason,β he thought to himself.
"So?" Evan adjusted his position, leaning on the backrest of the chair. "How do you intend to keep Eternity company?"
"Silly you, is that even a question?" Edelweiss gave him a sly smile. "Iβm going to bring her out of your apartment and into the city!"
