Chapter 76: Weighing the Doll’s Options

Evan scrunched up his forehead as if giving Freiheit’s suggestion some consideration.

"I don’t know..." He said it with a tone of hesitance. "I think it’s too early for Eternity to be exposed to such a wide-scale environment where she’ll be forced to socialize with many people."

Eternity frowned, propping her arms on her chest. "You don’t think I’m capable of socializing with a lot of people?"

"It’s not that I 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 you can’t," Evan said defensively. "I just think it might be too much for you."

"Why would you think that?" She asked without a hint of menace in her tone but with genuine curiosity, tapping her fingers on her arm.

But Evan took it the wrong way, like she was questioning his judgment. Freiheit, seeing that their interaction wasn’t going in the direction of bickering but would escalate to an actual fight, tried to return to the topic at hand.

"How about starting with something small?" Freiheit suggested again, a sweat trailing down the side of his face. "Like a tutor? Or homeschooling?"

"A tutor, huh?" Evan mumbled, scratching his stubbled chin. "What do you think—"

Just as he was going to ask Eternity for her opinion, Evan saw her expression of bewilderment.

"What is atyutor and homeskuling?" she inquired naively.

Freiheit couldn’t help but smile at the innocent question.

"A tutor," patiently said Evan. "is someone who helps students with their academic work, similar to a teacher but not necessarily with the formal education to be a teacher."

"While homeschooling is when you get your education at home rather than at school," Freiheit also helped to explain.

"Oh!" She drawled. "I understand now. That seems like going to school, but without the socializing part."

"Something like that," Evan said, shrugging. "What do you think about the prospect of homeschooling, Eternity?"

Eternity seemed to weigh in her option (or the lack thereof) for a moment before giving a response.

"I think having a tutor or doing homeschool might be interesting." She replied. "It would let me learn without dealing with too many people at once, which was your initial concern, correct, Evan?"

Evan gave a nod.

Still, Eternity wasn’t going to let it slide.

"You still haven’t given me an explanation for why you think I’d have a hard time mingling with people, but okay."

Evan groaned, realizing that his doll was more stubborn than he thought she was.

"It’s not about thinking you can’t handle it, Eternity." He started. "I just want to make sure you’re comfortable and not overwhelmed. The outside world is completely different from the four walls of this apartment."

"I appreciate your concern, Evan. I really do." Eternity looked at him with genuine eyes as she spoke. "But I feel like you’re underestimating me."

Evan nodded, trying his best to understand her point with an open mind, even if he was used to not being questioned and merely being followed.

"But I also might be acting all hasty just because of my excitement to experience everything all at once." She confessed to her faults. "So I think getting homeschooled would be the first baby step I should take before going all out."

Evan nodded, trying to hide his delight that she was able to understand his perspective. "Of course, Eternity. We can arrange for that if it’s what you want."

Freiheit interjected with a teasing smile, "And who knows, you might even become friends with your tutor!"

"Friends?" Eternity repeated with excitement, her green eyes widened, and her cheeks slightly turned pink. "I’d love to have friends outside of Evan’s circle!"

Evan cocked an eyebrow. "What’s wrong with my circle?"

Eternity deadpanned at him. "Are you seriously asking me that?"

Evan gestured for her to continue, so she did.

"First of all, Freiheit is literally the son of a billionaire. Second, Cynthia is also the same and is soon to be a doctor. Lastly, Edelweiss is a billionaire herself." Eternity enumerated slowly for emphasis. "Meanwhile, I’m just... 𝘮𝘦."

"Don’t degrade yourself like that, Eternity," Freiheit said disapprovingly. "You’re something special yourself!"

"I’m a sex doll," Eternity pointed out bitterly, biting her pink lips. "How is that special?"

"A 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 sex doll," Freiheit corrected.

"I don’t think that proves your case." Eternity pointed this out.

Freiheit looked at Evan for validation, but Evan merely shook his head.

"I also think that the ’real’ outside world isn’t near being surrounded by the ultra-rich," Eternity insisted. "But to be surrounded by everyday people who walk on the streets!"

Freiheit nodded in understanding, surprising both her and Evan.

"This was one of the reasons why I opted to become a traveling artist instead of being an heir to a billion-dollar company," Freiheit said with a surprisingly serious tone. "I wanted to live and be exposed to a society outside of the billionaire bubble that I was raised in."

"Wasn’t it because you just didn’t want the responsibility?" Evan reminded him.

Freiheit made finger guns at him.

"That, too."

Evan rolled his eyes.

"But let’s go back to the main topic at hand." Evan cleared his throat and resumed a serious disposition. "Eternity, you’re okay with getting homeschooled, right?"

She nodded. "As long as you promise to send me to a real school in the future."

"This is the first time I heard of this..." Evan shook his head and said, "But sure, I’ll promise you that."

Eternity’s green eyes widened, and she let out a soft gasp of delight. "Oh, thank you, Evan!"

He sighed, smiling tiredly.

"Now that it’s settled," Evan started. "We’ll look into finding a tutor or exploring homeschooling options for you."

Freiheit clasped his hands together. "If you need any help with that, just let me know. I know a few people who might be able to help."

"Thanks, Freiheit," Evan acknowledged, appreciating the offer.

"Thank you, Freiheit!" Eternity beamed brightly at him. "Good things always happen whenever you visit us!"

"You mean things go in your favor whenever he visits us?" Evan corrected her, his tone sounding amused.

Eternity merely shrugged.

"That’s basically the same thing."
