The CEO's Seductive Doll-Chapter 90: What if the Doll told You She Had Fallen?
Evan hummed, tapping his ballpoint pen on the surface of his table as he looked outside and saw that the sun was already setting, casting an orange glow on everything in his office.
He glanced at the clock on the wall and realized that he had been working longer than he intended.
Again.
With a sigh, he closed his laptop and stretched his arms above his head, feeling the tension in his muscles begin to disappear.
’Time to call it a day,’ Evan thought, pushing his chair back from the desk and standing up.
As he gathered his belongings, his mind wandered back to Eternity, wondering what she might be doing at this hour. Her subjects scheduled for today were science, history, the arts, and music. And judging from how late it was, Evan assumed that her music class had just ended.
"I wonder how her class went..." Evan muttered aloud as he finished packing up his things.
Just as he was about to leave his office, his phone started vibrating from inside his pockets. Raising an eyebrow, he fished it out and turned it on, wondering who could’ve possibly contacted him since he rarely used his phone.
Upon checking the notification on his phone, Evan realized that Eternity was the one who texted him.
"Good evening, Evan ^_^"
The corner of Evan’s lips formed a slight curve as he took note of Eternity’s emoticon. She didn’t even use an emoji; she literally manually typed an emoticon instead.
Evan had been meaning to buy Eternity her personal phone for quite a while now, but since she barely knew anyone, he thought that she didn’t have a need for it.
However, ever since she started getting homeschooled, her acquaintances increased, and she also needed to get in touch with her teachers in case they were unavailable for their session. Hence, Evan finally ordered her a phone and gave it to her this morning before he went to work.
He could tell that Eternity enjoyed his gift greatly since she had been randomly texting him throughout the day.
"Such an odd girl," Evan mumbled, though his lips that he was restraining were now fully curved into a noticeable smile.
After a brief pause, Eternity sent another message that read, "I learned how to properly make a playlist in music class, so I made you one."
Eternity raised an eyebrow at the thought that he was actually paying her music teacher just so she could be taught how to curate a playlist instead of teaching her, say, sing or play a musical instrument.
He received another text, this time a link that would automatically open the application to the music streaming platform, Dotify.
He tapped it and was led to a Dotify playlist, just as Eternity had promised.
Weirdly, however, the playlist only had one song. Evan scrunched up his forehead as he read the title of the song, ’Fallen.’
"By Lola Amour, huh?" Evan muttered; even the band seemed unfamiliar to him.
He clicked on the ’play’ button, and he was greeted by the sound of trumpets, followed by the beat of the drum and the rhythm guitar. The sequence repeated itself two more times before the singer sang the first line.
’What if I’ve told you that I’ve fallen?’
Evan’s eyes widened as he listened to the first verse of the song, where the singer was telling the listener how he liked it when the listener said his name. How his heart skipped a beat whenever they called, and they liked that it even if it wouldn’t disappear.
He listened to the song more attentively as it continued, taking its lyrics to heart.
"Is this what Eternity felt toward me...?" Evan whispered, feeling pleased at Eternity’s romantic gesture.
As the song continued, he became caught up in its lyrics and melody, coming to terms with how deeply they mirrored his own feelings towards Eternity.
Lost in the music, Evan closed his eyes and let the song wash over him. He was never fond of music, since it brought back negative memories of his childhood. But for once, Evan thought music was a convenient way to express your feelings to someone without actually verbalizing them yourself.
As the final melody faded away, Evan opened his eyes and found himself smiling, a sense of giddiness washing over him.
God, Eternity had only been in his life for not even two months yet, but she was capable of making him, HIM, Evanescence ’Evan’ Holz, feel giddy like some sort of high school boy!
His phone began vibrating in his hand, signaling that there was another message from Eternity. He turned on his phone and saw Eternity’s chat.
"What if I’ve told you that I’ve fallen? ;)"
Evan rolled his eyes, but his cheeks were slightly flushed with embarrassment. A wide grin was plastered on his face, and as hard as he tried to wipe it off, it wouldn’t go away.
Like the skipping of the singer’s heart in the song.
With a chuckle, Evan typed out a response to Eternity’s playful message.
"I think I would say... I’ve fallen too ;)" Evan internally cringed at the winking emoticon but decided to send it anyway.
A second later, another message arrived.
"Did you like the song?"
"I loved it," Evan replied before adding a "<3" to show how much he did love it.
Eternity’s response came almost instantly, her enthusiasm practically radiating off the screen.
"I’m so glad you do! <333"
Evan couldn’t help but smile at her adorable emoticon usage. It was moments like these that made him realize just how lucky he was to have Eternity in his life.
Eternity might’ve entered his life unwarranted, but he was absolutely grateful that she did.
"Thank you for sharing it with me," he typed back.
She replied almost immediately.
"I’ll send you more songs, but for now, hurry and go home already! I miss you so much >:(((("
Evan burst out laughing, finding her antics so adorable. But he decided to follow her request, or rather, demand. With a final glance out the window at the beautiful sunset, Evan grabbed his coat and headed out of the office.
