Chapter 92: The Owner’s Character Development

Evan arched an eyebrow, mirroring her posture as he leaned in to join her gaze out into the evening sky.

"Shouldn’t I be the one saying that to you?" He countered, though there wasn’t a hint of malice in his tone.

"Now that you mention it," Eternity replied, her eyes half-lidded as she chuckled. "That sounded ironic coming from me."

She turned her attention from the view outside to Evan as her laughter subsided and a thoughtful expression took its place. Suddenly, she shifted closer to him and leaned forward as if to share a secret, drawing Evan’s attention.

"Though, I 𝘢𝘮 curious," he said, eyeing her with his azure eyes that seemed to look bluer under the moonlight. "What do you mean by ’more human?’"

Eternity’s lips curled into a mischievous smirk as she leaned in, opening her mouth as if to whisper something, drawing him closer.

But before he could hear whatever secret she intended to share, she suddenly pushed him away with surprising force, sending him tumbling backward to the floor.

"Whoa--" Evan exclaimed as he landed on the ground with a soft thud. "Hey, what was that for?!"

Rather than answering, Eternity extended her hand, her eyes shining with mischief. With a deep scowl, Evan accepted her hand, allowing her to effortlessly pull him back to his previous position at the window sill as if he were weightless.

"There." Eternity declared, and her voice had a tone of triumph as if she had just proven a long-debated point.

"There?" He repeated it, a mixture of annoyance and curiosity in his tone.

"I don’t think you remember," Eternity began to explain. "A month ago, back when I just arrived, we took a bath together."

Evan’s eyebrow quirked in disbelief, but he remained silent, gesturing for her to continue.

So she did.

"When we finished using the bathtub, I offered you my hand, but you scoffed at me and declined."

Evan wrinkled his forehead as he looked at her in disbelief. "I did that?"

"Yes, you did." Eternity nodded affirmingly. "I guess it was because your misogyny level was over 9999 when we just met, so the notion of you getting pulled up by a woman was beyond you."

"Over 9999..." Evan spoke slowly, and his expression of surprise turned to amusement. "You’re spending too much time on the internet, Eternity."

"Am I?" She tilted her head to the side, feigning innocence. "But anyway, do you remember when I got angry because you implied that I needed a man like you just to feel safe?"

"This I remember," Evan said, nodding as he reminisced about the memory.

"To be honest, I half expected you to get angry back at me." Eternity admitted, covering her face with her hand to hide the smile that wanted to form on her lips.

Evan’s brow furrowed in mild confusion. "Why would you think that?"

"See!" Eternity exclaimed, using her hand for emphasis. "The mere fact that you’re asking me this shows how much you’ve changed in a month!"

Evan looked hummed, though his expression implied that he was still unconvinced. However, despite his reservations, Eternity couldn’t help but notice the subtle softening in his features. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"You promised that you’d try to change for me," she reminded him gently, her voice soft yet firm.

Evan nodded in acknowledgment. "I remember doing that."

"But I can’t believe you actually toned down your misogyny to this extent," Eternity said, her tone a mix of awe and admiration. "Although sometimes, you still end up slipping in a misogynistic remark or two... But Rome wasn’t built in a day, and progress is still progress!"

"Is this what you meant by ’more human’?" Evan asked, finally making sense of her words.

Eternity nodded. "I didn’t mean it like, you were a doll like just me before, but it’s just..."

Eternity trailed off, but Evan understood her point perfectly.

"So, what you’re saying is I lack the ’human’ in humanity," Evan finished for her.

She seemed to be searching for that particular sentence as she snapped her fingers and nodded.

"Yes!" Eternity exclaimed. "Exactly!"

Evan chuckled, a faint smile playing on his lips as he considered her words.

"To be honest, I didn’t even notice these changes going on with me." He admitted.

"But you did change," Eternity insisted. "You changed a lot in a span of a month and a half!"

Evan’s gaze softened as he looked at Eternity, the glow of the moonlight casting a shadow on his chiseled face. "I guess sometimes we don’t realize how much we’ve grown until someone points it out to us."

Eternity smiled warmly at him. "Exactly. And I’m happy with how far you’ve come. From a man who wouldn’t accept that his misogyny was something bad to a man acknowledging that this world is unsafe for women."

"Because of people like me," Evan finished for her.

Eternity shrugged.

"Not necessarily! But if the shoe fits," She added it mischievously.

Evan rolled his eyes, but the sides of his lips formed a slight curve.

There was a moment of silence shared between them as they stared into each other’s eyes under the glow of the moon. After a while, Evan slowly reached out and gently took Eternity’s hand in his, intertwining their fingers together.

"Thank you, Eternity," he said softly, his voice filled with sincerity and his icy blue eyes seeming to have melted.

Eternity blinked blankly, her moss-green eyes wide with curiosity. "For what?"

"You know," Evan shrugged, a faint smile playing on his lips as he searched for the right words.

But Eternity shook her head cluelessly, her expression a mix of innocence and genuine confusion.

"I do not," she admitted.

Evan’s laughter echoed softly in the room, but once it subsided, his expression turned serious, and he squeezed her hand gently but firmly.

"For helping me turn into a new leaf."

"Not entirely," Eternity corrected, but her tone was playful.

Evan nodded in acknowledgment.

"True," he conceded, but he insisted. "Still."

"Still." Eternity echoed, agreeing with him.
