The Countess Lives Twice in the Apocalypse-Chapter 89: Eighty-eight
"Okay." Jannah spoke up as she continued to walk along the top of the rock wall, walking around the town’s wall, checking if the wall she created three nights ago had faulty cracks on them, "So far, I haven’t seen anything out of the ordinary."
Jeriel raised an eyebrow and let out an unladylike snort, "You think the wall we’re walking on is ordinary?"
Jannah returned Jeriel’s sassy expression, raising an eyebrow and shooting her little sister a conniving look, "Well, do forgive me because this witchcraft of mine is ordinary in terms of my witch’s vocabulary."
Since crude people who had witnessed Jannah’s ability showcase kept calling her a witch, the Rafelon sisters had turned it into a joke and laughed about it instead of getting offended and mad about it every time people called her a witch.
"But you’re no witch, my lady." Kirie spoke up, her eyebrows furrowed and looking at Jannah, a puzzled look in her eyes.
"I agree with her. You’re not a witch, Countess." Duke Eulicies stated, a solemn and confused expression settling on his face.
Can’t they take a joke? Jeriel asked through the mental link between her and her big sister.
Leave them be, they have no idea that it was a joke. Jannah sighed out, her eyes shifting downwards to look at her intertwined fingers against Kirie’s when she felt the lady’s hold tightened a little.
She didn’t shake off Kirie’s hold when the lady gathered enough courage to hold her hand.
She’s going to let the three of them do whatever they want and wouldn’t interfere unless their rivalry with each other became physical.
"It was just a joke between me and my little sister." Jannah said, protecting Jeriel’s honor.
She appreciates the fact they are quick to defend her and turn down any statements regarding her being a witch, but aren’t they being too serious about it?
"Oh, well, please forgive me for jumping into conclusions." Kirie apologized, squeezing Jannah’s hand lightly, hoping and praying that it would make Jannah accept her apology.
Jannah didn’t speak, but she returned the squeeze that Kirie did on her hand.
At this point, Jannah could feel the staring daggers on her intertwined hand against Kirie’s, making her sweat drop on her cheek due to how ridiculous the stare the crowned princess and the Duke were making.
Why don’t you hold one more hand in your right hand? Jeriel asked through the link, her voice dripping with amusement before she let out a cackle.
Jannah’s eyebrows furrowed and looked at her little sister, she saw the bright grin on Jeriel’s face.
But I’m holding your hand right now—
Jannah couldn’t finish what she was saying through the link when she felt Jeriel pulled her hand away from hers.
Now, hold another hand. Jeriel demanded, the amusement swirling in her ocean blue eyes, excited to see who Jannah would pick out of the crowned princess and the Duke. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Unexpectedly, Jannah turned to Kirie and said, "Let go of my hand. You have been holding my hand since we started walking so it’s time for Princess Huenazia’s turn."
Jeriel raised an eyebrow at what Jannah was trying to do.
"Oh." The green haired lady blinked, her face twisted into a downcast expression, but did as she was told.
Jannah stopped walking for a moment and turned to the crowned princess, holding her hand out to her, "Your turn, hold my hand."
The princess physically brightened up and immediately reached out to hold Jannah’s hand. Then, Jannah held her hand out to Duke Eulicies, making him blink rapidly, puzzled, but gladly held Jannah’s hand.
Since they’re halfway to the back gate, Jannah decided to be fair on letting the three of them take turns holding her hand.
Wow.. You really have to be fair and square, don’t you? Jeriel sighed out, the previous amusement in her voice disappearing as if she was disappointed with the outcome of a drama she was watching.
Yes. I don’t want a war to break out. Jannah said, an underlying playful tone in her voice.
The walk to the back gate became peaceful. No words were exchanged between the four of them because Jannah was focused on checking the wall and the perimeter.
When they reached the back gates, Jannah had to let go of the princess and the Duke, waving a hand on the knight by the watchtower.
"Countess Rafelon!" Jeremiah called out, waving back enthusiastically.
Jannah approached the knight, her foot stepping into the thin air and in an instant, the ground began to shift and twist, a wall of rock suddenly thrust up from the ground, surging upwards with a quick and powerful force.
A rock wall formed beneath her foot, catching her weight before she could fall.
"Are the clay, wattle, slate, tiles, and turf ready?" Jannah asked, watching as Jeremiah held out a hand to assist her getting inside the watchtower and she accepted his help, crouching down to slip inside the tower.
"Yes, my lady. Sir Arthur, Sir Polo, Ms. Lucienta has brought them over." The purple haired knight said, assisting his master.
"Is Clara here?" Jannah let go of Jeremiah’s hand and turned to the four people who were waiting for their turn to get inside the tower.
"Yes, my lady." Again, the knight answered.
Jannah hummed softly, helping Jeriel get inside the watchtower. She helped Kirie to get down and helped the princess. She was hesitant to help the Duke, but the Duke looked like he wanted to be offered a helping hand so she helped him.
He’s such a baby. Jeriel commented, watching as Jannah let go of Duke Eulicies’s hand and turn to her.
Just because he’s a man wanting to be helped, doesn’t mean he’s being a baby, sis. Jannah said, letting out a huff through her nose.
Jeriel couldn’t retort anything back because Jannah turned in her heels and descended the stairs of the watchtower. Jeriel let out a groan before she followed behind her big sister.
"Jannah!" Clara perks up when she sees Jannah approaching at a fast pace, "I was told to come here and bring the blueprint."
Yes, I asked Lucienta because I checked the wall I created. It’s a good thing you’re here, I’m about to build the building you’ll be stationed in. Jannah said, her voice echoing in the back of Clara’s mind.
Oh, but why? Wouldn’t it be better if I’m stationed in the middle of the town? The blonde woman wondered, tilting her head.
Yes, but I’m going to build the training area by the back gates and will extend the wall to expand the town. Jannah responded, her eyes falling on the roofings she asked for.
"Lucienta, assist Clara on choosing the roofing she wants for her station." Jannah orders softly, turning away from them and approaches an empty lot beside the back gates, her eyes scanning the area.
"Yes, my lady!" The head maid chirped cheerfully.
Elemental wall. Jannah chanted the skill’s name in her mind, with a certain element in her mind and her eyes trained on the ground where she wanted the wall to rise.
The air around her crackled with energy, a soft buzzing sound reverberating through the air as the ground beneath her feet shifted and trembled, the earth shaking as the strange power given to her began to shape and mold before her.
Then, suddenly, the ground of the center of the empty lot began to rise, wooden planks forming from the soil and rising up to form the walls of a small, but seemingly sturdy structure.
The earth continued to shift and churned in response to Jannah, the ground shuddering beneath everyone’s feet, making them let out a collective yelp of surprise as they try to balance themselves on top of the moving ground.
As she continued to watch what she had in mind to form, the ground began to rise higher and swirl, until a house composed of wood and rock started to form among the haphazardly placed walls.
Slowly, the seemingly nonsense structure began to take shape, its lines and curves forming a solid wooden and rock wall of a building similar to a house.
The wood and planks bent and warped to her will, mending and mixing together to form a house.
By the time she was done, a house consisting of rock and wooden walls had taken shape, an empty square shaped left on a random spot on the wall where her people could place the window.
Of course, the house doesn’t have a roof.
"Arthur." Jannah called out, looking away from the house she just created using her skill to look at the knight.
The knight who was watching everything unfold has a look of astonishment and awestruck on his face had snapped out of his daze when he heard Jannah called him.
"Yes, my lady?" Arthur rushed to her side, his admiration and respect for her breaching the roof of every house, soaring high up in the sky.
"You saw what I just did, right?" Jannah asked, facing him and crossing her arms, "Your skill can be used as a protection, platform to reach high places, and can be used to build a house lik—"
[Ding!]
Jannah accidentally stopped herself from saying the rest of what she wanted to say because of the system.
[The side mission [Drafting lodging house] is done!]
