Chapter 88: Eighty-seven

"Good morning, Countess!"

"A lovely morning to you, lady!"

"Good morning, lady countess!"

"It’s just Countess, child. Not lady countess—"

"Look, it’s a pretty lady!"

"Did you sleep well, Lady Jannah?"

The Countess strode through the crowded street, her footsteps slowing as passers-by turned to greet her.

The greetings of the children and adults echoed in the air, their voices full of enthusiasm and energy as they beam at the Countess, lighting up the atmosphere of the street.

People called out greetings, their voices blending together in a chorus of recognition and respect, making Jannah smile and nod in response, pausing occasionally to ruffle a child’s hair to return their cheerful greetings.

The street was alive with activity, the clamor of footsteps, and the calls of mothers or fathers for their children to eat, creating a constant, energetic hum.

People moved around her as if she were a fixed point in the middle of a constantly shifting terrain and as Jannah continued on her way, her path was clear and unhindered with people making way for her.

Princess Huenazia, Duke Eulicies, and Kirie are trailing behind the Countess and her little sister.

As they walked through the busy street, they were simultaneously met with greetings and smiles from all those around them.

The four of them passed by on the street, watching the crowd part ways for the woman they are following, saying their greetings, their voices blending into a harmonious chorus of friendly "good morning", "how do you do", "Did you sleep well", "pretty lady" by adults and children.

The people seemed genuinely pleased to see the Countess, their faces breaking into happy and excited smiles as she passed by.

Of course, they also watched as she returned the greetings, her own smile warm and genuine while she continued her way down the street, looking like she was basking in the warm embrace of the community around her.

Duke Eulicies and Princess Huenazia were the ones who had a higher noble title out of everyone, but with the Countess in their presence, they felt small and underestimated.

Though, they really don’t mind since the Countess said the nobility status will be removed in their community sooner or later.

"Has it always been like this?" Princess Huenazia spoke up, her sunset colored eyes scanning the cheerful crowd who greets the Countess.

"Not at first, Your Highness." Kirie answered, the tone of her voice respectful and the smile on her face polite, "There were a lot of protestors when we arrived and they were looking down on my lady because she’s a woman."

"Which made me upset when Countess Rafelon told me to stand down when one of the protesters kept throwing insults in her way." Duke Eulicies murmured, his words reaching the two women’s ears.

"What did she do to the protesters?" Princess Huenazia asked, looking away from the crowd to look at the green haired maid and the Duke.

"She ordered them to cut down trees last week when we went around the town to check the perimeter." Duke Eulicies answered, an unreadable look crossing his eyes when he recalled the night Jannah ran around the town to create the rock wall outside the wooden walls.

"Remember the knights that got injured when they apprehended the protesters?" The Duke looked at the crowned princess.

"Yes? Your knights were the hurt ones." The Princess said, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "Why are you asking me this?"

"My lady had issued an order to kill them." Kirie muttered softly and quietly, her voice small, but loud enough for the Duke and the princess to hear what she said.

She can’t exactly say what happened inside the small prison because they are out in the street, with children running about to greet the Countess, but since no one has enhanced hearings like them— she decided to risk it and say it.

Ever since they have been put in the flower bond that Jannah talked about, their physical strengths and senses have been enhanced in an overwhelming amount.

The physical strengths were tested when Princess Huenazia asked for Kirie to accompany her for a quick stroll behind the mail house where the fall logs were thrown.

Duke Eulicies saw them and decided to accompany them. That’s how they found out how strong they were.

Kirie’s and Princess Huenazia’s can now lift two to three fallen logs that the prisoners had cut down with the Duke being able to lift at least six to seven fallen logs depending on their size and weight.

Then, in terms of enhanced hearing..

The maid and the crowned princess can now hear clear words and noises from ten meters around them while on the other hand, the Duke can hear from his spot to the next fifty meters around him.

They have not said this to Jannah yet and instead shared the information among themselves because they don’t want the Countess worrying about their being when she already has a lot on her plate.

Princess Huenazia let out a sigh, "I can understand where she was coming from. I would have issued an order of execution of protestors and assaulters if they decided to be an outlaw and hurt my people."

"I wholeheartedly agree." Duke Eulicies stated and nodded his head, his eyes glued on Jannah’s back, watching her smile and converse with her little sister.

"I’m completely sure that everyone agrees." Kirie hummed out, the small, polite smile still on her face.

Their conversation slowly come to a halt as they got near to the front gates of the town, Jannah and Jeriel approached the knights by the watch tower, immediately saying something to them before they signalled to the knight, Anthony, to see what he could see outside the gate.

"There are ten zombies outside the gate, my lady!" The burly knight informed his master.

"Good work, Anthony!" Jannah called out before she walked towards the gate and said loudly, "Come on, you three. We’re going up."

Almost immediately, Princess Huenazia had claimed Jannah’s left hand, holding it tightly on her own. Jeriel already has Jannah’s right hand so Kirie went on Jannah’s back instead and wrapped her arms around the woman’s waist, burying her face on her back.

The Duke, who was slow and got left behind, had no choice, but to stand beside Kirie and grab Jannah’s forearm, shooting a bitter glare on Kirie and Princess Huenazia.

Those who saw the pathetic state of Duke Eulicies had felt their shoulders sagging and heart strings getting tugged— he was outnumbered! The ladies were faster than him and it was obvious that he wouldn’t pull them off the Countess just so he could hold her hand.

All of them prayed for the Duke’s successful attempt for the next opportunity.

With a deep breath through her nose, Jannah looked at the ground and chanted the skill, Elemental Wall, in her mind.

"Kyaa!"

"Woah!"

"Sis!"

"Ack—"

The reaction of the ground was immediate and so was the surprised yelps as the stone beneath her feet began to vibrate and tremble— slowly, the rock wall began to rise, lifting the Jannah and the people holding for dear life onto her upwards as the rock moved as if it were liquid.

She stood atop the rising wall of rock, her feet seemingly glued to the ground and her expression calm.

The rock continued to rise, carrying them higher and higher into the air, the wind whipping around her as she rode the stone wall like a wave.

The Countess stood firmly, her gaze fixed on the ground below her. With a subtle twist of her fingers, the stone beneath her began to shift and move, rising up beneath her feet and slowly bending over the wooden wall.

As she waited for the wall to take her to the top of the other rock wall outside the town, her expression remained unchanged, her breathing steady and her body calm.

When the rock wall had successfully gone over the wooden wall and connected itself on the other rock wall, Jannah shifted slightly to let the four people hugging her tightly that the skill was done doing its job.

Princess Huenazia was the first one to scramble to detach herself, her face heating up when Jannah glanced at her.

"I was just shocked!" The princess exclaimed, stepping two steps away from Jannah.

Next was Duke Eulicies, he had realized that he held on to Jannah and buried his face on her shoulder when he opened his eyes.

He was quick to move away, his heart hammering inside his chest as he looked away.

Kirie though.. She remained embracing Jannah and even had the nerve to shoot Duke Eulicies and Princess Huenazia a playful smile.

They expected Jannah to push the green haired lady, but no, she let Kirie hug her waist from the back and the lady had the courage to change the way she held Jannah— reaching out to touch Jannah’s hand instead!

You cunning fox—

What a sly and scheming little—

The Duke and Princess Huenazia stopped their thoughts from saying the insult they wanted to say because Jannah raised an eyebrow at them.

Then, they remembered that Jannah could hear them through their thoughts, leaving them feeling embarrassed and ashamed of themselves by letting their jealousy get the best of them.

It’s so easy to read their faces! Jeriel laughed obnoxiously, her gaze shifting between Kirie, Princess Huenazia, and Duke Eulicies.
