"Demon venerable Shen, you’re back!" Kong Xun immediately greeted the man with a relieved expression plastered on his face, "I was very worried about you."
Jie Fu Lian nodded his head as he heard this, "I’m guessing nothing important happened...?"
"Nothing out of the ordinary," Kong Xun reassured.
"Then I have a few things for you to do," Jie Fu Lian spoke with a sigh, "First, I’ll go and take a bath. We’ll talk again later."
"I’ll prepare the bath for you."
Jie Fu Lian nodded his head as he agreed.
While Kong Xun prepared the bath for him, Jie Fu Lian took out his sword and stared at it for a long time.
The Changbo sword had always been precious to him. Whenever he felt troubled, this sword was always there to help him. Whenever he held it close, he felt a sense of reassurance.
However, now, he could only feel a pang of guilt as he looked at the sword that now had a piece of Hua Tianshu’s soul trapped within.
When Kong Xun saw the man, he couldn’t help but frown a little as he asked, "Are you still thinking about him?"
Jie Fu Lian side-glanced at the man as he heard this and nonchalantly asked, "Who do you mean?"
"Immortal Jie Fu Lian, of course," Kong Xun responded, as a matter of fact, "Who else would you be thinking about as you stare at his sword?"
Jie Fu Lian didn’t know if he wanted to laugh or cry as he heard this, "You’re right. I’m supposed to think about Jie Fu Lian as I look at this sword."
"Eh?" Kong Xun titled his head in confusion as he looked at the man.
"Did you know?"
Kong Xun’s eyebrows creased together as he heard this question and he repeated, "Know what, Master?"
"That Hua Tianshu split a part of his soul and infused it inside this sword," Jie Fu Lian spoke with a sigh as he asked, "Did you know about it?"
Kong Xun gulped as he heard this and felt a little worried as he looked at the expression on the demon king’s face. He wondered if he was supposed to say ’yes’ or ’no’. If he said ’yes’, he would be blamed for not informing the demon king about this issue and if he answered with a ’no’, he would be blamed for his incompetency.
No matter what answer he gave, it didn’t look like he would get a good result so he decided to keep his mouth shut.
In the end, Jie Fu Lian only sighed as he let the matter go and threw the sword aside as he went to take a bath.
Once he left the room, Kong Xun also sighed in relief, having barely saved his life by staying quiet.
After half an hour, Jie Fu Lian returned from his relaxing bath and Kong Xun couldn’t help but sense the man’s bad mood.
"Kong Xun, have you heard about the master of curses?"
Kong Xun nodded his head as he heard this, "I know him."
"Do you know his real identity?"
This time, Kong Xun shook his head as he responded, "I do not know."
"I need you to find him for me," Jie Fu Lian immediately ordered out, "And while you’re doing so, also find the one who is backing him up."
Kong Xun obediently nodded his head as he heard this, "Yes, Demon Venerable Shen."
"Also look into the woman called Jin Shifeng and find out what connection she has to the master of curses."
Kong Xun once again nodded his head as he heard this order.
Jie Fu Lian picked up the Changbo sword and looked at it carefully without saying anything. His expression looked quite pitiful and at the same time, angry as well.
With a bit of worry, Kong Xun couldn’t help but reluctantly ask, "Demon Venerable Shen, is there something that is troubling you?"
"There are far more than just a single thing bothering me," Jie Fu Lian scoffed as he replied.
Kong Xun immediately gulped as he heard this and thought about it for a moment before he asked, "Is this related to that Hua Tianshu?"
Jie Fu Lian gave a mocking smile as he heard this and spoke, "Kong Xun, I can see why you are my most-trusted subordinate. You might be a coward but you have a talent at predicting things."
Kong Xun sighed in relief as he heard this and quickly spoke, "Actually, there was already something that I wanted to inform you about him."
"Hmm?"
"Remember the time when you went to take the Changbo sword?"
Jie Fu Lian nodded his head as he heard this.
"Well, I felt that it was a bit weird how the sword was suddenly being given away as a reward to a low-grade case so I looked into it a bit," Kong Xun sighed as he hesitated for a few seconds before continuing, "I found something weird."
"Hmm?"
"It was Hua Tianshu," Kong Xun spoke as he met Jie Fu Lian’s eyes, "He was the one who found the sword and preserved it for the last eight years. He kept the sword near and treated it like a treasure but..."
"But?"
"But one day, he suddenly decided to give the sword away as a reward."
"He probably stopped treasuring it," Jie Fu Lian nonchalantly responded.
Kong Xun immediately shook his head as he spoke, "That’s not it."
"Then what are you trying to say?"
"It was a trap," Kong Xun revealed. For some reason, although he sounded sure of his words, his expression looked a bit confused as he continued, "He was trying to lure Jie Fu Lian with the sword."
Jie Fu Lian’s eyebrows creased together in confusion as he heard this, "Who told you that?"
"One of our spies overheard Hua Tianshu discussing it with his Sect Master. He was trying to lure immortal Jie Fu Lian in using the sword."
"But Jie Fu Lian is already dead."
Kong Xun nodded his head, "I also think it sounds ridiculous. Why would he try to lure out a dead man? It is certainly weird."
"Are you sure that spy of yours didn’t mishear things?"
"I’m sure he didn’t," Kong Xun confirmed, "But Demon Venerable Shen, there is also something else that’s weird."
"What?"
"The master of curses," Kong Xun gulped as he spoke, "It is said that he has also been looking for immortal Jie Fu Lian."

According to what Kong Xun had said, it seemed that Hua Tianshu already knew that Jie Fu Lian would be back in another body. However, that was something even Jie Fu Lian could not have guessed so how come Hua Tianshu knew?
Was it really a coincidence that he was able to use Changbo as bait and lured Jie Fu Lian in?
Jie Fu Lian felt as if he could only find the answer if he managed to find how he was able to possess Shen Fang’s body.
Perhaps it was all a big coincidence and if it wasn’t... Then all of this was already planned by someone and like a puppet on a string, Jie Fu Lian was playing a role in someone else’s story.
The latter was the worst possible scenario while the former was something he hoped to be the case.
"For the time being, just look into the identity of the master of curses and his connection with Jin Shifeng." Jie Fu Lian sighed as he paused for a few seconds before continuing, "Report his every move back to me."
"Yes, Demon Venerable Shen. I’ll make sure to find his identity by the end of the week." Kong Xun obediently nodded his head as he replied, asking, "In the meantime, do you plan to stay here, or are you going to head out again."
Jie Fu Lian needed some time away from Hua Tianshu and that was the main reason he had come here so when he heard this question, he sighed as he leaned back on the bed and calmly spoke, "I’ll rest here for a few days."
Kong Xun smiled as he heard this and enthusiastically nodded his head as he bowed and left the room.
As soon as the demon left, Jie Fu Lian took out the second book that he had stolen from the record room of the Jin Sect.
It was titled ’The thrilling love story of immortal Xue Lan’.
It was a book that Jie Fu Lian had picked up on a whim but he certainly felt a little excited to read it.
