"Sit down," Sect Master Quan spoke as he sat down behind his own table and gestured for Hua Tianshu to also take a seat.

Hua Tianshu politely nodded his head as he bent down and sat.

"Was it really him?" Sect Master Quan immediately questioned as he looked at Hua Tianshu’s face with a sense of urgency mixed with worry.

Hua Tianshu gulped as he heard this question and took a minute to respond before he nodded his head.

"It was him," Hua Tianshu confirmed.

"Oh, Great Heavens..." Sect Master Quan muttered in disbelief. His eyes widened in shock, looking at Hua Tianshu with pity.

"Sect Master... I want to protect him this time," Hua Tianshu firmly spoke as he met the man’s eyes.

Sect Master Quan pursed his lips into a thin line and didn’t dare give a response to that. As he looked at Hua Tianshu, he felt conflicted about what to do and which side to choose.

On one hand, he could see Hua Tianshu’s devotion and he could easily be moved by it, but on the other hand, he could also see the dangerous path that waited for Hua Tianshu and he didn’t want to let the man walk down such a difficult road.

"Sect Master, from here on out, I know you won’t support me." Hua Tianshu sighed as he looked at the man and accurately guessed Sect Master Quan’s thoughts, "But this is my choice and... Even if you don’t support me, please do not try to stop me."

Sect Master Quan gulped as he heard this and looked away immediately, not wanting to see the expression on the man’s face as he questioned, "Are you sure you want to make this decision?"

Hua Tianshu softly smiled as he heard this and unhesitantly gave a nod as he responded, "I have never been more sure about anything else in life. Sect Master Quan, I love him and no matter what it takes, I’m willing to protect him."

Sect Master Quan scoffed as he heard this and commented, "I should’ve never listened to your ridiculous plan. Even if you smile like this, I can’t help but regret helping you."

"Sect Master Quan, if you hadn’t helped me, I would’ve looked for another way to find him," Hua Tianshu chuckled as he immediately replied

Sect Master Quan felt no relief as he heard this. He took a sharp breath in and stubbornly closed his eyes, expressing his unhappiness.

A few months ago, Hua Tianshu had randomly gone to meet Sect Master Quan and made a ridiculous request. Presenting Jie Fu Lian’s sword, he told Sect Master Quan that he had found the way through which they could find Jie Fu Lian.

Sect Master Quan was deeply worried about his beloved disciple and although he didn’t believe Hua Tianshu’s words, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse such an innocent request.

For a short time, Sect Master Quan pretended to play along and he released the news that the Changbo was being given away as a reward for solving the Xu clan case.

The Xu clan case involved demons and hence, it was originally supposed to be a high-grade case but Sect Master Quan purposefully announced it as a low-grade case in order to make sure that no ordinary cultivator could solve the case and take the Changbo as a reward.

The trap was perfectly laid according to Hua Tianshu’s wishes but Sect Master Quan still held no hope since he believed Jie Fu Lian to be dead.

He thought no one would be able to solve the case and as a result, the Changbo would not be given away to anyone.

However, to his surprise, Hua Tianshu’s trap seemed to have worked and the impossible seemed to have come true.

Not only had someone solved the Xu clan’s murder case, but that person had also revealed himself to be the demon king who immediately coveted the Changbo sword.

This was certainly a bit too unexpected, but even after seeing the demon king take the Changbo sword away, Sect Master Quan wasn’t sure what to make of it. He dare not believe that the demon king was Jie Fu Lian, but at the same time, if he were not Jie Fu Lian, it made no sense why the Changbo would react to him so enthusiastically.

If Hua Tianshu hadn’t personally confirmed it, perhaps Sect Master Quan would have still had a hard time believing the truth about the possession of the demon king’s body.

If Sect Master Quan had already known that things would turn out this way, he would have surely refused Hua Tianshu’s request and never helped the man lay out such a trap using the Changbo. He would have tried everything in his power to keep Jie Fu Lian away from Hua Tianshu.

However, there was no use regretting his decisions now. He had already made a mistake and there was no fixing it.

"Hua Tianshu, how did you know?" Sect Master Quan kept his eyes shut as he questioned, "How did you know Jie Fu Lian had returned?"

Hua Tianshu smiled as he heard this question and took a minute to answer.

"A letter from a benefactor came. The letter told me to monitor Changbo’s movements and when I did... I noticed it. The day he possessed Shen Fang’s body, Changbo grew restless and I immediately knew that he had returned."

"A benefactor?" Sect Master Quan abruptly opened his eyes as he questioned.

"It is not someone I know, but it is someone I am greatly thankful towards."

"Hmm?"

"It is the person who brought Jie Fu Lian back," Hua Tianshu revealed and Sect Master Quan’s eyes widened in shock.

"Somebody helped him possess the demon king’s body?!"

Hua Tianshu gave a nod as he responded, "I am sure of it."

Sect Master Quan gulped as he worriedly pointed out, "Then there is one more person who knows this secret...?"

Hua Tianshu’s expression stiffened a little as he heard this and instead of giving a direct answer, he spoke, "I am trying to find that person but so far, I have no clues to follow. The letter is the only proof I have of that person’s existence, but right after I read the letter, the words written on it disappeared and the paper itself burned without even leaving ashes behind."

Sect Master Quan frowned as he heard this but didn’t say anything.

"I know that it’s dangerous to let that person live but..." Hua Tianshu gulped as he suddenly took a pause before continuing, "I am grateful to them."

Since that person had brought Jie Fu Lian back, Hua Tianshu didn’t want to do that person any harm.

"Letting such a person live would do you no good," Sect Master Quan sighed as he spoke, "We have no guarantee that the person would keep their mouth shut. If the truth is leaked to others, both you and Jie Fu Lian would suffer greatly. In the worst-case scenario, history might repeat itself and you’ll... Lose him again."

Hua Tianshu clenched his fist as he heard this and firmly responded, "I would not let that happen."

"Then find that person," Sect Master Quan replied without missing a beat, his tone sounding extremely strict. "If you want to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself, you need to be one step ahead of your enemies. I can clearly see how serious you are with Jie Fu Lian, but your desperation isn’t enough to keep him safe."

Hua Tianshu gulped as he heard this but dared not to say anything against it.

"Hua Tianshu, you need to find the person that bought him back, and you need to find out why they helped him. Every righteous cultivator boasts about wanting to help people. They all want to seem kind and humble, but there are rarely any that actually speak the truth. You cannot trust that person even if you feel gratitude towards them."

Hua Tianshu nodded his head as he heard this.

"Hua Tianshu, I know you are not a fool and I trust you to make the right decision," Sect Master Quan cleared his throat as he added, "As for the reinvestigation, I think it would be better if it is done in secret."

"You can rest assured, I did not reveal any information about the reinvestigation to anyone I do not trust."

"That’s good," Sect Master Quan nodded his head, "Did you find anything new?"

"We have found a few things that seem a bit odd," Hua Tianshu revealed with a sigh, "We visited Xiujiang and looked through the memories of the witnesses from Bai LiuXian’s murder case. The culprit that we saw seemed to have wanted to blame the crime on Jie Ming, but it is certain that Jie Fu Lian is not the culprit."

"Did you find any proof to back that statement?"

"We are looking into it. As long as we can find the real culprit, we’ll be able to prove his innocence," with a soft sigh, Hua Tianshu shook his head as he spoke, "We have found reasons to believe that Bai Guanyu had been possessed by a demon and as long as Bai YiJun agrees to cooperate, we’ll be able to prove that the Jin Sect had purposefully tried to hide the real culprit."

Sect Master Quan nodded his head in understanding as he heard this and spoke, "Make sure you hurry up. I’m sure the Jin Sect already has eyes on you."
