The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 103: Why Henglong?
After talking with Sect Master Quan for a little more than an hour, Hua Tianshu finally came outside and immediately looked at Duan Luoyang as he spoke, "I need you to go somewhere."
Duan Luoyang looked back at the man, feeling a little clueless as he asked, "Where?"
Hua Tianshu glanced around and sighed as he stopped speaking and sent a voice transmission directly into Duan Luoyang’s mind, "We are being monitored. Do not say anything about the case that we are working on. From this moment on, you’ll only be using voice transmission to discuss the details of this case." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Duan Luoyang’s eyebrows creased together and he gulped as he heard this. His eyes quickly glanced around but he didn’t seem to have noticed anything out of the ordinary.
"Shizun, how can we be monitored in our own sect?"
"That is precisely the reason why we are being monitored," Hua Tianshu sent another voice transmission as a response, "There are reasons to believe that we have spies inside the HuiXue sect."
Duan Luoyang looked to be a bit intimidated as he heard this but didn’t dare question it.
"I need you to go undercover to Henglong. Try to find any information about ’the art of controlling spirits’ there. Pretend to be a rogue cultivator looking to practice the art of controlling spirits and I’m sure someone will help you."
Henglong was an infamous city where demons, demonic cultivators, human beings, and even ghosts coexisted. Normally, any righteous cultivator would choose not to visit the city simply because it would be bad for one’s reputation. If reputation wasn’t something to worry about, they’d worry about the dangers and choose not to visit.
Duan Luoyang had heard a lot about Henglong but he had never personally visited the city. In fact, he was one of the cultivators who were afraid to visit Henglong because of how dangerous the rumors made the city out to be. Even though all types of people coexisted there, it was surely not peaceful. In fact, it was far from peaceful. It was a city where you could be killed overnight and nobody would even know.
"Shizun, why Henglong?" Duan Luoyang gulped as he questioned.
"If you do not wish to go to Henglong, then you’ll need to go to the demon realm. Out of the two options, I thought you’d be more comfortable going to Henglong."
"..." Duan Luoyang didn’t know if he wanted to laugh or cry as he heard this response. Both options sounded equally bad and no matter what he chose, he would still be risking his life.
"Shizun, must I go alone?" Duan Luoyang worriedly asked.
Hua Tianshu gave a thin smile as he spoke, "You’d be going to Henglong and I’d be traveling to the demon realm. Except for us two, is there anyone else working on this case?"
Duan Luoyang immediately wanted to argue and take Uncle Fu’s name but he suddenly stopped himself as he thought back to the crying Hua Tianshu who could hardly keep it together when talking about the man.
As if guessing what was on Duan Luoyang’s mind, Hua Tianshu sighed as he spoke, "Before your uncle Fu returns, we must find out how the culprit manage to personate Jie Ming."
Duan Luoyang nodded his head as he heard this, however, he still felt a little reluctant and that reluctance could clearly be noticed in his eyes.
"Don’t worry," Hua Tianshu softly smiled as he patted the man’s head, acting as if Duan Luoyang were a child needing to be coaxed, "You still have Jie Ming’s dagger, don’t you?"
Duan Luoyang clutched onto the dagger that was always tied to his waist and hidden under his clothes. With a smile, he nodded his head as he reassured, "Of course, I have it."
"That dagger would protect you better than me. As long as you have it, there is no need for you to fear anyone."
Duan Luoyang suddenly felt courageous as he heard this. The dagger was extremely precious to him. It was the dagger that Jie Fu Lian had personally forged and gifted him. As long as he held onto the dagger, he would be able to defeat even the great demon king Shen Fang.
Hua Tianshu patted the man’s back and handed him a transportation talisman as he spoke, "Now go."
Duan Luoyang took a deep breath in and nodded his head with confidence as he immediately burnt the transportation talisman and left.
Once the man was gone, Hua Tianshu closed his eyes as he took a sharp breath in and tried to sense the presence of the person that had been closely spying on them ever since they entered the HuiXue sect.
He snapped his eyes open and immediately glared at his right side as he reached his hand out and used his spiritual energy to force the man out of hiding.
The spy choked and abruptly rushed out from behind the trees. He was dressed in HuiXue sect robes and looked like an outer core disciple. His face was quite common and had no defining features. Since he had no spiritual roots or cultivation, It wasn’t a shock that Duan Luoyang hadn’t noticed him.
With just a glance, Hua Tianshu was sure that this man was not an actual HuiXue sect disciple.
"Who are you?" Hua Tianshu immediately questioned as he grabbed the man’s neck and choked him almost to death.
The man struggled for a bit but refused to say anything.
Growing impatient, Hua Tianshu gritted his teeth as he clenched the man’s neck harder and questioned, "Who sent you?"
The man’s eyes almost rolled to the back of his head and it seemed as if he no longer had any energy left to struggle out of Hua Tianshu’s hold.
In the end, as soon as he lost his consciousness, Hua Tianshu let go of the man’s neck and the man limply fell down on the floor like a dead corpse.
Hua Tianshu rubbed his hand on his clothes as if he were cleaning them and glared at the man lying on the ground.
Feeling no sympathy for the poor weak spy, Hua Tianshu lifted his feet and kicked him as he forcefully woke the man up and questioned once again, "Who sent you?"
The man coughed and gasped for air as he tried to push himself off the ground but miserably failed.
Hua Tianshu stepped on the man’s hand and the man screamed in pain, his voice overpowering the sound of his cracking finger bones.
"Who sent you?" Hua Tianshu once again questioned, his voice hardly containing any emotions.
As the man raised his head to look at Hua Tianshu, he could not help but feel a cold shiver go down his spine.
Hua Tianshu’s face was devoid of any emotions and his entire demeanor was cold and ruthless. It didn’t look like he was bluffing or playing around. It looked as if he was serious and unless the man answered his question, it was clear that he would feel no hesitance to kill the man.
The spy quickly realized his own helpless situation and groveled on the ground as he frantically grabbed Hua Tianshu’s leg with his unbroken hand and begged for forgiveness, "I-I apologize! Forgive m-me! Please, forgive me!"
Hua Tianshu clicked his tongue in annoyance and kicked the man’s hand away as he cried out in disgust, "Don’t touch me."
The man immediately bobbed his head up and down, not daring to grab the man’s leg again.
"P-please forgive me! I have committed a sin! I shouldn’t have tried to spy on you! It was my mistake! I’m s-sorry!"
Hua Tianshu unsheathed his sword and held it over the man’s head as he spoke, "I never asked for you to apologize. I only asked you a simple question—who sent you? If you can’t answer that question, I can just kill you right now."
The man flinched as he heard this and with his eyes widened in horror, he stuttered, "I-I’ll tell y-you! I’ll tell you so please let me go."
Hua Tianshu raised his eyebrow as he replied, "Then speak. Who sent you?"
Tears started rolling out of the man’s eyes uncontrollably as he hesitated for just a few seconds before he spoke, "I-It was a demon."
"A demon?" Hua Tianshu repeated, feeling skeptical.
The man frantically nodded his head as he desperately confirmed it and continued, "It was a demon. He threatened to kill me if I refused to listen. I was too scared of him. I’m really sorry."
"What information have you given him?"
"N-Nothing!" The man gulped as he cried out, "I didn’t get any time to report back to him. I really didn’t give him any information!"
"How long have you been spying on us?"
"I-It hasn’t been long. I was told to spy on you when you returned to the HuiXue sect."
Hua Tianshu nodded his head and thought about something for over a minute before he spoke up with a sigh, "Go and report to that demon."
"Eh...?"
"Go and report to that demon," Hua Tianshu firmly repeated as he spoke, "Go and tell him that I’d be traveling to the demon realm in search of the master of curses."
The man looked up at Hua Tianshu in both confusion and concern.
