The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 104: I can control a spirit
Hua Tianshu was surely planning to head out to the demon realm but he wasnโt going there in search of the master of curses, he was going there in search of the fake โart of controlling spiritsโ cultivation manual. ๐ป๐โฏโฏ๐ค๐๐๐๐ฐ๐๐๐.๐ธ๐๐ฎ
The spy nodded his head. Although he was still confused, when being threatened by Hua Tianshu, he didnโt really have a choice of asking questions or refusing to comply.
"I donโt expect much from you but if you can, try to find the identity of the demon that is threatening you."
The man gulped as he heard this and muttered, "Heโs a demon... Can they really be differentiated?"
Hua Tianshu smirked as he heard this question. Most people didnโt distinguish demons from one another. As long as they were a demon, they were considered evil and needed to be killed or feared. Previously, even Hua Tianshu shared the same thoughts but now, he could no longer say the same.
"Is there no difference between a low-ranking demon and a high-ranking demon?"
The man nodded his head hesitantly as he heard this question and replied, "There is a difference..."
"Then is there no difference between a high-ranking demon and the demon king?"
The man once again nodded his head as he gulped and replied, "There is a difference."
"Then how can you say they are all the same?" Hua Tianshu asked with a smirk.
The man shut his mouth up and thought that Hua Tianshuโs words made sense, but at the same time, he also felt as if he was somehow being trickedโeven if there was a difference, werenโt all demons still evil and dangerous...?
"So go and try to find the identity of the demon that is threatening you. If you can tell me who it is, perhaps I can get rid of him and thatโs something that would be good for you as well, isnโt it?"
The man reluctantly nodded his head with a confused expression as he heard this and spoke, "I donโt know if I can find his identity but..."
"But?"
"There is something odd about him that I noticed."
Hua Tianshu raised his eyebrows as he asked, "What is it?"
"He could summon a spirit."
Hua Tianshu immediately frowned as he heard this and his expression turned serious as he questioned, "What do you mean?"
"Elder Hua, do you remember the technique mastered by Jie Fu Lian?" Without waiting for an answer, the man continued as he revealed, "The technique used by the demon was very similar to โthe art of controlling spiritsโ used by Jie Fu Lian."
For a second, Hua Tianshuโs mind went blank. He had guessed that the demon who had planted this spy at the HuiXue sect would be with the Jin Sect or the master of curses, but shockingly enough, it seemed that this demon was the impersonator who had murdered Bai LiuXian.
Hua Tianshu didnโt know if he wanted to laugh or question his luck.
How could such a coincidence exist...?
The murderer that he was looking for had decided to seek him out first...!
Feeling a little unsure, Hua Tianshu couldnโt help but question, "When you say he summoned spirits... What type of spirit do you mean?"
The man carefully thought about it for a minute and tilted his head slightly as if having difficulty putting his thoughts into words.
"It was... Weird." The man sighed as he shook his head and spoke, "It was just very scary and weird."
"What do you mean? Explain clearly." Hua Tianshu pressed on.
The man flinched as he heard Hua Tianshuโs slightly raised voice.
"I donโt know how to explain this but there was this claw," The man sounded unsure as he tried his best to explain what he had seen, "If you had ever seen Jie Fu Lianโs art of controlling spirits, you would immediately notice how breathtakingly beautiful it is. The spirits summoned almost seem as if they are made out of pure air, they are very clear and although they are dangerous, they still look amazing. However, the spirit summoned by that demon was something... Horrifying."
The manโs face turned a little pale and it looked as if he wanted to puke as he remembered that scene.
"It was a demonโs claw covered in blood and demonic Qi."
"You canโt use the art of controlling spirits to summon the spirit of a being that is alive," Hua Tianshu, as if wanting to test the man, immediately pointed out as he asked, "Are you sure about what you saw."
The man gulped and his eyes slightly widened as he stutteringly spoke, "I-Iโm not lying. I definitely saw it! It was definitely the art of controlling spirits but that claw..."
The man cringed as he remembered the sight and paused before adding, "It was more dead than alive."
"Explain," Hua Tianshu replied shortly, his eyes dangerously narrowing down on the man.
"Well, even demons bleed, right?" The man frantically tried to explain as he spoke, "When he attacked me, I acted on impulse and stabbed the claw but there was no blood."
"Didnโt you say that the claw was covered in blood?"
The man nodded his head as he confirmed, "It was! But the blood did not belong to the claw."
"Then youโre saying the blood belonged to the victims of the... Claw?"
The man shook his head, "Didnโt I tell you that the claw was covered in blood and demonic Qi?"
"Hmm."
"The blood of a cultivator does not contain any spiritual Qi since all the spiritual energy is stored in the core and travels through the meridians. However, for demons, their blood contains demonic Qi and it is quite hard to hide," The man gulped as he spoke, "The blood belonged to another demon."
Hua Tianshuโs eyebrows creased together as he heard this. When he and Jie Fu Lian went inside the witnessโs memory to see the truth behind Bai LiuXianโs murder, they saw the demon claw covered in blood and demonic Qi but they guessed that the blood belonged to the victims and the demonic Qi came from the claw itself.
Since it was a memory, they didnโt have much time to analyze the claw and since it was a demonโs claw, they didnโt bother speculating where the demonic Qi came from.
"Elder Hua, I believe that the claw was a forced spirit," The man gulped as he continued, "You must have also heard about them. It is a technique used in demonic cultivation. You pour in enough hatred, curses, and sacrifices to force something to gain a spirit. The demon probably forced the demonic claw to awaken a spirit by constantly keeping it submerged in a demonโs vengeful blood filled with demonic Qi."
Hua Tianshu couldnโt help but feel slightly impressed as he heard this. He looked at the man carefully as he asked, "What is your name?"
The man gulped and suddenly put on a shy smile as he spoke, "My name is Wang Zexian. I am an outer-core disciple of the HuiXue sect. I was recently accepted so it would make sense for Elder Hua not to know me."
At first, Hua Tianshu had guessed this man to be an outsider who was posing as a HuiXue sect disciple so when he heard this, he was visibly surprised.
"How come you have no cultivation?"
Wang Zexian scratched the back of his neck, feeling a little embarrassed as he spoke, "I donโt have a spiritual root but I have great interest in alchemy."
"How did you pass the sect entrance test without a spiritual root?"
"I made a pill."
"How did you make a pill without a spiritual root?" Hua Tianshu questioned, feeling even more suspicious.
The man let out an awkward chuckle as he explained, "I can control a spirit."
Hua Tianshu immediately frowned as he heard this and coldly glared at the man.
"D-donโt get me wrong! Iโm not claiming to be a spirit master!" Wang Zexian immediately waved his hands in front of his face, the movement causing him pain due to his broken hand. Ignoring the pain, he desperately tried to explain, "Iโm just a fan of spirit Masters like Xue Lan and Jie Fu Lian! I have been studying spirits and I found out that even without a spiritual root, I can control the spirit that I have nurtured. With the use of the spirit, I can make pills and pursue a path in alchemy."
Hua Tianshuโs expression did not lighten up as he remembered hearing something similar from the Sect Master of the Yu Sect.
"What spirit do you control?"
"Itโs the spirit of a cauldron."
"..."
"I did not mean for it to develop a spirit. Honestly, it was an innocent mistake." The manโs cheeks turned a little red in embarrassment as he explained, "I was very interested in alchemy and my father gifted me a cauldron when I was just eight years old. I used to practice with the cauldron every day and I cared for it deeply. Although all my practice was fruitless, after twenty years of constantly being with me, the cauldron suddenly developed a spirit, and then I started learning more about spirits and thatโs how I came to know how to use it."
Hua Tianshu could immediately guess most of what the man had failed to explain.
