The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 144: Wei Hua!
The little white fluffy cat had already left but when the man entered the room, he slightly frowned as he commented, "It seems like you have a cat."
Jie Fu Lian raised an eyebrow as he curiously asked, "How did you know?"
"The thing did not bother cleaning up after itself," The man sighed as he spoke, blaming the cat, "There is fur everywhere. You can hardly speak without choking on it."
Jie Fu Lian frowned as he heard this and looked around with a little bit of confusion as he wondered if his eyes had gone bad. Why was it that he could not even find a single hair...?
"Did it already leave?"
Jie Fu Lian gave a nod as he spoke, "It left just a few minutes ago."
"Good," The man nodded his head in satisfaction as he closed the window and spoke, "Let’s keep the windows closed. This way, it can’t return."
"..." Jie Fu Lian had the feeling that he had invited an odd man inside his house.
The man freely looked around as he spoke, "It doesn’t look like you’ve been staying here for long. Looking at your clothes, I can tell that you are from the Yan Sect. Are you here to investigate something?"
"I’m... Kind of lost," Jie Fu Lian replied vaguely as he sat down on the bed and asked, "What about you? Why are you here?"
"I’m a rogue cultivator. I make a living by going around and taking up work in small villages like this."
"What’s your name?"
"Hua-" The Rogue cultivator opened his mouth to say something but after muttering out just a single word, he shut his mouth closed and desperately looked around as a cold sweat trailed down his forehead.
"Hua...?"
"Wei!"
"Wei...?" Jie Fu Lian frowned as he repeated.
The man enthusiastically nodded his head, "My name is Wei Hua!"
"..." Jie Fu Lian felt a little speechless as he heard the man’s name. He wondered if the man was even trying to hide the fact that he had just given a fake name.
"What about you?" Wei Hua immediately changed the topic as he asked, "What can I call you?"
"Jie-" Jie Fu Lian also stopped himself after uttering out just a single word and thought about it carefully before he spoke, "Fu Ming. I am called Fu Ming."
According to what his father had told him, it seemed like there were people after him and although this rogue cultivator didn’t seem like the type to become a threat in the future, Jie Fu Lian wanted to play it safe, and hence, he also followed the man’s example and gave a fake name.
Wei Hua didn’t seem to mind it and happily grinned as he heard the name.
"It must be hard for you to live as a rogue cultivator," Jie Fu Lian spoke with a sigh in an attempt to distract himself from thinking about his father.
"It must be harder for you to live as a Yan sect disciple," Wei Hua also sighed as he replied.
"..."
"The Yan sect isn’t that far away from this place and yet, you say that you are lost." Wei Hua looked directly at Jie Fu Lian as he spoke with no hesitation, "It’s clearly a lie that you have lost the way back home. Rather than saying you aren’t able to go back, to me, it seems more likely that you can’t go back."
Jie Fu Lian pursed his lips together and refrained from giving a response to that.
"Your eyes also look a little red and puffy," Wei Hua pointed out with a small frown as he asked, "Have you been crying?"
"As if!" Jie Fu Lian defensively retorted, "I just rubbed chilly into my eyes by mistake."
Wei Hua chuckled as he heard this and nodded his head as he replied, "Understandable. I have also done that many times."
"Why are you so talkative?" Jie Fu Lian questioned with a judging tone.
"I am normally a talkative person," Wei Hua replied, looking as if he were the most energetic and happy man living in this world, "And Daoist Fu looks like he needs someone to talk to."
"..." Jie Fu Lian hated the fact that the man was right.
"I am a stranger and I hardly know you so whatever you tell me, I’ll remember today and forget tomorrow. I won’t judge you and even if I do, you won’t have to care about it since you’ll never see me again so Daoist Fu, is there something you want to say? At times like this, if there is something weighing you down, it’s best to share that burden with a carefree soul like me."
Jie Fu Lian was swayed away by his words and sighed as he looked down at the ground and spoke, "I need to do something..."
"Hmm?"
"But I’m afraid I don’t have the power to do it."
Wei Hua raised an eyebrow and looked to be a little curious as he questioned, "What do you want to do?"
"Kill the demon king."
"..."
"If I kill him, everything would turn out to be fine again. I’ll be the hero who will go down in history books and my father would no longer need to be worried about me."
Wei Hua seriously thought about it for a moment and nodded his head in understanding as he asked, "Is that what you want?"
"Huh?"
"Do you really want to kill the demon king or do you just want to stop worrying your father?"
Jie Fu Lian’s mind went blank for a second.
This question was quite stupid and the answer was a given but Jie Fu Lian still could not say it.
"In this world, is there any cultivator that does not want to kill the demon king?"
Wei Hua nodded his head as he confidently spoke, "There is."
"Who?"
"Me," Wei Hua honestly spoke as he replied, "I do hate him and I hate the fact that his existence is putting the one I love in danger but that does not mean I want to personally kill him. In fact, even if I did want to kill him, I know that I would not be able to. He is too strong for me and killing me, for him, would be like snapping a chopstick into two."
Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but laugh as he heard this and asked, "Then what if he kills the one you love? If it were for revenge, would you do it? Would you kill him?"
Wei Hua’s expression suddenly turned a little serious as he spoke, "If that happens, I will not kill him. I will want to torture him to the point where he begs me to kill him. But that doesn’t mean I would suddenly be capable of doing that to him. As it stands, I am still too weak against him. If I let my rage blind me, I’ll die a worthless death."
"So you’ll forget about it and move on?"
"No," Wei Hua shook his head as he spoke, "I’ll train myself and try my best to reach his level. I’ll let the hatred inside me grow and when I know I am strong enough, I’ll finally face him and take my revenge."
Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but feel a little moved as he heard this and softly chuckled as he spoke, "She’s quite lucky. I mean the one you love."
Wei Hua innocently smiled as he spoke, "The one I love is a man."
"..." Jie Fu Lian was a little taken aback but recovered fast enough and smiled as he replied, "He is still lucky."
Wei Hua looked at Jie Fu Lian and gave a nod as he spoke, "He is. He just doesn’t know it."
"I’m kind of jealous of him," Jie Fu Lian sighed as he casually spoke, "Today, I was abandoned by my father and now, I don’t even know what to do next. There is no one by my side left to support me. I wish I also had someone I could depend on but unfortunately, it seems that you need luck for that as well and luck has never favored me in life."
Wei Hua tilted his head as he heard this and spoke, "You have me."
"Huh...?"
"I’m sitting by your side listening to you, am I not?" Wei Hua asked, pointing at himself, "If you want someone to depend on, I can be that person."
Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but feel deeply moved by the man’s words. He had just met the man but he could already feel a familiar connection between them.
"Have I met you before this?" Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but question.
The man immediately shook his head as he insisted, "This is definitely the first time we have met!"
"..." That was a bit of an extreme reaction but Jie Fu Lian laughed it off as odd and didn’t think too much about it.
"Actually, I do not believe you," Wei Hua quickly changed the topic as he spoke, "I think you must also have people who care about you and are always willing to stand by your side, but you are just too blind to see it."
"It would be nice if that were the case."
